Best Of.....
I've been reviewing the seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation:
And today, I'm onto Season 6.
Season 6 had some great episodes: Chains Of Command, Parts I & II (There are FOUR lights!); Second Chances (Riker's Transporter clone); Timescape (Time freezes and speeds up); Relics (the Scotty episode); Tapestry (Picard doesn't get a new heart); and even Fistful Of Datas, which not everyone likes, but whatever. However, my favorite is not one that universally rated high, but one which I like best:
The Chase
The Enterprise crew discover that similar DNA is found on different planets and when put together, could make something great. But they discover that both the Klingons, Romulans and Cardassians were after all the DNA fragments as well. And when they're all assembled, its not a power source, or weapon, but a recording that shows that an ancient race seeded all these worlds with DNA and shows all the races of the cosmos come from one ancestor and are all related.
It's a bit corny, but I like the idea. And I always thought this would have made a great movie, with a little work. It could have involved more races, and a larger area covered.
But even so, it's a fun and thoughtful episode, and it's, in my opinion, the best of Season 6.
