Badass Birthday
On this date, in 1908 in Czechia, Oskar Schindler was born.
Schindler was a German industrialist and member of the Nazi Party. He employed over 1200 Jews in his munitions factories in Poland, Bohemia and Monrovia during the war. In doing so, he kept those Jews from going to the extermination camps and the gas chambers therein. He continued to do so until the end of World War II and ended up spending most of this fortune on bribes to government officials and supplies for the workers.
He passed away in 1974.
Protecting over a thousand Jews from the Nazi while being a member of the Nazi party, risking not only his fortune, but his freedom and his life? Total and complete fucking badass.
