i wanna make friends with the badger, the woodchuck...

Enrickyricardo left a comment on THIS post about 20 year old straight guys not wanting to hang out with older gay men. It got me thinking.

I really don't have many friends my own age. I just started hanging out with Bob & Don, who are the guys AJ was staying with. Both are gay, Bob's in his 50's, Don's just 46. my buddy Michelle is my age. Dave S. is my age. The last guy I dated, Don, was 43. But most of my friends are younger than me.

AJ was 27. My buddy Ryan from work is 27. A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking is 30 (*snicker*...he's an old fart now too). Ghostie's like 28. My buddy Gar is about 28 as well. His ex, Troy is only 21. My last ex-boyfriend would now be 21. Poodle was just 21 when I was hanging about with him. Phoenix is about 35 or so, not that much younger, but younger still. And of this group, only four are gay. I think of everyone I used to hang around with when I worked at Borders, most of them were younger than me, and I was only gay person working there forever. I think of the people I hung around with when I worked at CVS drugstore, most of them were younger than me then too, although I was quite a bit younger than I am now, and none of them were gay, that I knew of.

And now that I think about it, when I was growing up, there was a group of use neighborhood kids that hung out together all the time, about 7 or 8 of us. I was the second oldest of the group. So maybe I'm just used to having younger friends from way back.

I just seem to always have younger friends. I act nowhere NEAR my own age. And clients and co-workers at work usually underguess my age by 5-8 years. My acute immaturity helps with that. SO I guess I don't seem like I'm 41 to most people.

I'm not sure I had an actual point to make here, I'm just thinking out loud...and on blog.

I don't have alot of real life friends, partly because I didn't grow up here and the nature of my work means we all filter in and out of town at various times in our life, but I do find at work I spend more time with younger people. Not sure why. I hope its not cause I'm totally pervy. :-) But I mean men and women. I seem to get relate better to the new hires, maybe because I'm not big on climbing the career ladder which most of my colleagues my age are madly trying to scale. But I think some people are naturally more young at heart or more mature and maybe they meet somewhere in the middle.

My on-line friends are all ages because we met through common interests rather than because we all happen to go to school at the same time.

Sooo, you're suggesting I spend time with younger people because I am 'totally pervy"????

Eh, could be true. :)

No no no, I don't think either of us is pervy. (Well, maybe just a little bit. ;-) )

Most of my friends are around either younger than or older than me. Only a couple are within 2 or 3 years of me. And those closest to my age, they're straight of course.

All my gay friends are either way younger (26) or older (63).

You worked for CVS too? I did the management gig for about what, five years there in the 80's.

Thankfully I realized I hated retail and got into IT instead.

Oh, put your pic up on The Age Project. I'm 44 but get pegged for 33 all the time.

Aww. Hope I didn't offend you with my comment!
I have older friends, younger friends and friends my age, as I think most people do.
I wasn't questioning the age difference factor at all, just the straight factor... haha.
But if you're SURE....
