Tonight, after work, I went for my monthly cut-n-color (gotta get the red put in to cover the gray!). After this, I rushed home, got a shower, changed clothes, and went to pick up my friend Michelle.
She and I then went to El Paso for some great Mexican food. We talked...a LOT! We did some planning, for the Toronto trip. We were there for like and hour and a half. Then i suggested going somewhere for a few drinks. I didn't know anyplace nearby though. She suggested this place downtown called the Gourmet Goat, which i had never heard of.
When we got there, I realized it was in the same place that previously housed Headquarters, THE gay bar in the tri-state area from like 1993-2001 or so. Almost every Saturday night over that period of time, I spent at HQ. HQ was never stylish or classy, just a great gay bar, with great music and great people.
The Groumet Goat IS stylish AND classy! I was quite surprised with how they had changed the place. It's really impressive. Although they still had to same bar in the back room set up. OH, the memories there. Michelle had been there before and she introduced me to one of the owners: Paul. He stood and talked to us for quite some time. He also got our drinks for us, we didn't have to go to the bar to get them. Wednesday ar GLBT Night, much to our surprise, and my enjoyment. There was some eye candy there, not the least of which was the very cute bartender Tony.
They've been there for 2 years, and I've never heard of them! Amazing. But now that I know they're there, I'll definitely be going back! We were there for slightly over an hour, having more fun talking. Then I took her home.
And a great night was had by all.
Also, I don't think I'll be going much posting tomorrow, Thursday, cause Mama Polt gets her orthroscopic surgery on her knee at 9:30 in the morning, and when we get back from the hospital, I'm pretty much gonna be hanging out there most of the evening, watching over and taking care of her. So I might get on here later tomorrow night, but that's about it.
keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
