Time are tough all over, even at newspapers. The Daily Planet had to cut down on reporters, so Clark Kent was let go. Not having any money, he revealed his secret identity and did the only work he could find.
And as can be seen in the background, apparently things are just as bad with the Daily Bugle, cause Peter Parker's working in the same strip club.
