Lost, do you lose things? I don't really lose them. Or if they get lost, I generally find them before too much longer. As an example, there were several CD that I could not locate after my move to the house, but I KNEW they had to be arond here somewhere. And then, late last summer, after being here like 10 months, I happened to be looking in a comic book box and I found a batch of them there. Not sure why they were there, but there they were.
There are a few things that I used to have, but no longer do, but I didn't get rid of them voluntarily. And here are the stories of a few of them.
"Steve Miller Band, Greatest Hits"
In the late 80's, since the rest of the music scene was nothing but rap, sap, crap and heavy metal, I engulfed myself in 'classic' rock of the 60's & 70's. Led Zep, Fleetwood Mac, Rolling Stones, The Who, The Doors, and yes, the Steve Miller Band. A few years after buying this particular CD, I loaned it to a friends of mine at the same time as he loaned me the "Kick" CD from INXS. And we just never got around to giving them back to each other. So even though I no longer have the Steve Miller band, I DO have the INXS CD. And I'm think I may have come out the better for it.
"Mellow Gold" by Beck
I purchased this almost as soon as I heard the song "Loser" for the first time. I kept raving about it. My friend, Amy, had a brother, Andy, who wanted to borrow it to listen to it. So I let him. The weeks turned into months, but it was no big deal. However, when I eventually asked him for it, he told me he didn't have and never had. I didn't argue with him, what would be the point, but I didn't get the CD back either.
Toreador Handbook
One of the Roleplaying games I used to play was Vampire: The Masquerade. I had the handbooks for all the Clans, including the Toreadors. Another friend of mine asked to borrow it as he was playing in a different group, but wanted to see the handbook. And so of course, I lent it to him. Then a few weeks later, in York PA he was arrested and his backpack, which contained the book, were confiscated. He never saw the backpack, nor I my book, again. I did however buy another copy of the book off Amazon a few years back.
An Active Duty production porno
A gay couple that were friends of mine stopped by about four years ago. We hung our, ordered pizza, watched a movie. Then we got to talking about sex and porn (imagine!) and we started watching one. It was an Active Duty production filled with "miliary" men playing with themselves and each other. When they left, I let them borrow a different one to take home and...enjoy just between them both. But less than a year afterwards, they seperated. I've spoken to each of them, seperately, since then, and neither one seems to know where the porno is. But really, I've got so many pornos, I'm not sure I even miss it.
A wife-beater
A friend of mine was over and we ended up fooling around (imagine!!) and as he was a tall muscular black man, I said I thought he'd look freakin' hot in a white wife-beater. I happened to have some that were in his size (what a coincidence, eh?) and he tried one on. He looked just as hot as I thought he would, and he kept it on through all the....remainder of our time together. And when he left the next morning, he took it with him. And since then, I've not seen him or the wife beater again. Course, it's only been 4 months. Hopefully I'll get to see both of them again. Soon.
