So, today, West Virginia's first confirmed case of COVID-19 was announced in Martinsburg WV.  That's 45 minutes south of me.  There are about 10 cases in Cumberland county, about 45 north of me.  So while there are no confirmed cases here, yet, it's on its way.

After work, I called mom and had an uncomfortable conversation with her.   I told her that she needed to STOP going out and playing cards and games with the other residents in the retirement community.  I told her everyone would be touching the cards and if one person was infection, then they all would be.

She is SUCH a social butterfly AND likes to help people, so she's always going to their houses to socialize and help them with things.  And that's great, it keeps her young!  But really, with what's going around, I don't want her doing that. I want her staying home, self isolating and staying safe.

Surprisingly, she agree everything I said was right.  Also, she said the village sent out letters to everyone living there saying they can have no visitors. I took it to me no visitors from outside the community, but she took it to me, no visitors PERIOD.  And that's even better.  Keep everyone away from everyone.  Especially with all the people over 70 out there!

So we'll be talking every day, but I told her, I'm not going to see her in person again until this is all over or until one of us is in the hospital with this shit.  And she agreed.

I've made light of this situation, really, until now.  but with the stuff I mentioned in the first paragraph, I'm totally serious on doing what I need to.

And I hope all of you do too.
