Superhero Anydays
Today, I am quite saddened. I heard the Steve Lightle, illustrator extraordinaire, has died. He was only 61 years old, and he died of cardiac arrest due to COVID complications.
Mr. Lightle had an amazing run on the Legion Of Super-Heroes. He was incredibly detailed, and distinctive. And I heard he was responsible for the design, the look of one of my favorite legionnaires: Tellus.
First, we have a group shot he did, with all the members from the team's history, even the dead ones. And no, I'm going to name them all, I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the work.
And we also have, by Mr. Lightle, a cover from one of the issues, showing all the candidates for membership at the last time the Legion allowed 5 members to join at once.
And no, I'm not going to name them all either...although the yellow and purple alien with the helmet on in the lower left corner....that's Tellus.
Rest In Peace, Steve Lightle....and godspeed.
