My birthday song, my happy world (Part 86)...

 Badass Birthdays

Back in 1933, 92 years ago, in Texas Ann Richards was born.

Who's Ann Richards?  She was a Texas politician, including state treasurer and then governor 1991 to 1995.   She gave great speeches and had some great one-liners.  Even after she lost the governorship she remained active in politics until her unfortunate death in 2006.

Some of her quotes:

"I've always said that in politics, your enemies can't hurt you but your friends will kill you."
"I have a real soft spot in my heart for librarians and people who care about books."
"Let me tell you, sister, seeing dried egg on a plate in the morning is a lot dirtier than anything I had to deal with in politics."
"Well it's really hard to satisfy the right wing, I can tell you that."
"After all, Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred Astaire did. She just did it backwards and in heels."
"Poor George Bush, he can't help it.  He was born with a silver foot in his mouth."
"I did not want my tombstone to just read 'She kept a really clean house'".
"You can put lipstick and earrings on a hog and call it Monique, but it's still just a pig."
"They don't ask their public officials to be perfect.  They just ask them to be smart, truthful, honest, and show a modicum of good sense."

And she said it all with her deep, rich, smooth Texas accent.

Complete and total badass.
