Badass Birthday
In 1533, 492 years ago, Queen Elizabeth I was born in England.
She was the second of only 6 women to ever sit on the Throne of England (or UK). Her over 44 year reign also places her 6th on the list of longest reigns of all English monarchs. Other this why is she a badass? She founded the Church of England and showed religious tolerance (unlike her predecessors). During her reign, English theater (think Shakespeare) and maritime exploration (think Sir Francis Drake) both flourished. The Spanish Armada was defeated, keeping England an independent nation instead of a province of Spain. There was amazing stability in the realm during her almost half century reign.
And she never married, saying she was married to England.
Total badass.
