Badass Birthday
In 1960, 65 year ago, in San Francisco, BD Wong was born.
He's had a career in acting on film, on TV and on the stage. He had an award winning performance in M. Butterfly on Broadway. He's been seen as Dr. George Houng on Law&Order, SVU; Dr. Henry Wu in the Jurassic Park franchise, and Huge Strange on Gotham.
But I knew him first from his performance in the movie about the AIDS pandemic "And The Band Played On". He was, and I believe always has, worked as an out gay man. And that's something that takes a lot of courage to do, especially 30 years ago when his career started.
An out gay Asian man actually having a career in Hollywood back in the 90s....total Badass.
