I don't think, even as a kid, any of those things would make me buy a comic book I wasn't already inclined to purchase. A mean a purple background might draw my attention to the comic book, but I don't think it would guarantee I'd get it.
I was never into the World War II comics, or the Westerns they published, and even if one of them had all SEVEN of these things on it, I still wouldn't have gotten it.
But then Carmine Infantino was a comic book artist, creator, editor and publisher, so I suppose he knows what he's talking about.
