Get a roll with it, baby....
So today, I made it to work. My back still was sore, but not as bad as the day before. The nurses ruled out kidney issues, and said it was probably just a pulled muscle. But I couldn't think of how I could have pulled it. Then, later in the day it occured to that the 3 hours of bedtimesexxyfun with Kris on Monday was rather....vigorous. And that may account for how I pulled the muscle. Hey, at 21, he can handle that sorta stuff, and for longer periods than I can at 43! But whatever the cause, I'm just glad that it seems to subsiding.
During work, I was talking to a co-worker about the Captain America moving and the upcoming Avengers movie and we got to talking about The Ultimates graphic novels (which is a reworking of the Avengers if they had formed in the early 21st century). It's pretty awesome, but he never heard of it. So after work, I thought I'd go by Borders and see if I could find a copy and get it for him. Cause that's how I roll.
On the way in the door, I saw a notice that said, "New shipments from our warehouse everyday!" On Monday, the Harry Potter shelf was clear, but I thought, if they're getting new books in, and now everything's minimum 20% off, I'd just check and see. And lo and behold, they had TWO shelves of Harry Potter stuff! And I managed to get books 4, 5 & 6! Still missing 7, but that's okay, I'll pick that up when I'm ready to read it. And they had a copy of the Ultimates like I wanted! AND, I wandered around and ended up finding another $80 worth of books. I KNOW! But the upside was, on the bottom of the receipt, it said that I saved $32 and some cents! So in that respect, it all worked out, right?
When I got home, there were some of the neighbor guys sitting out back and one of them had a conversation with me as follows:
Neighbor: Hey, man!
Polt: Hey.
N: Hey, you got any watermelon seeds in your house?
P: Watermelon seeds?
N: Yeah. I can plant them for you and then we can eat them when they grow. We went to Wal-Mart and they were all out!
P: Isn't a bit late to plant them now?
N: Nah, they'll grow, they'll grow!
P: Okay...well, I dont have any now, but I'll see what I can do.
N: Okay, man. Great!
I should add he and I were both laughing throughout this whole conversation. Later, I had to go to the grocery store to get a few things, and I walked right passed the watermelons...and picked one up. I brought it home and took it over to him, telling him:
P: Hey, I know this isn't seeds, but at least you wont have to wait to eat it.
N: Yeah, but there's seeds inside man, there's some inside! thanks man! Seriously, thanks.
So, I dont know really why, or even if, he wanted a watermelon, but he's got one now. And yeah, that's how I roll.
Since I didnt' sleep terribly well the last two nights, I'm rather tired tonight and will probably go to bed soon, as it looks like work is gonna be a bear tomorrow. Ugh. But anyway, here's a photo of the books I've gotten at Borders recently, minus the three graphic novels I got for myself and the one I got for my friend.

Brilliant white light of pain Surrenders all thought...
Haven't felt right since yesterday. Like a few weeks ago, yesterday afternoon, my lower back and neck started aching. My back feels like my knuckles or my ankles do when they need cracked. You know, a tightness and pressure. I crack my knuckle or move my ankle a certain way, there is a cracking sound, and it all feels better. But I can't seem to crack my back in the right way. And I dont know whats wrong with my neck, might be I'm trying to sit differently because of the back and it's bothering my neck, who knows?
I got up about 8 this morning, putzed around here (having already called in to take the day off...I had trouble sleeping last night with the pains), watched a Netflix movie, and then went up to bed to read for a bit. Ended up sleeping about 3.5 hours! from like 1130-300! Craziness. And even now, I'm tired and ready for bed. I dont know, I guess rest is what I need.
But I should be able to get back to work tomorrow, as long as the pain doesn't get any worse.

I don't get lonely when you are away I've got a book...
Earlier this evening, it wasn't too terribly uncomfortable outside, so I took the book I'm current reading and a bottle of water and sat on the wall that surrounds my front porch.
I wasn't out there a long time though, cause it was warm, and the air conditioning inside the house was calling me back in. But it was a pleasant change to get some fresh air and do some reading.
Also, I took a photo of the books I scored at Borders over the weekend. Four graphic novels that I purchased are already upstairs, so they're not included in the this photo. But in addition to those, these are what I spent $170 on.
Yeah, that's like almost a half year's reading right there.

This morning, I went back to Borders. My thought was, since I already had the first Harry Potter book, and picked up books 2 & 3 Friday night, that today I'd go over and get the remaining ones. Bad idea that. The entire freakin' shelf was empty. Nary a Harry Potter book in sight. And they had a table set out elsewhere that on Friday had all kinds of Harry Potter stuff, books, movies, etc. Today, it held three Harry Potter LEGO sets and that was it.
I also took a list of five other things I wanted, none of which they had. Although to be fair, I hadn't checked on Friday for those things. So what I went to get, was gone. However, I still did manage to find $80 worth of other stuff that I wanted. And I plan on going back in a few weeks or so and picking through the remains to see if I can find anything else.
This afternoon, Kris came by. He's back in Hagerstown, not sure for hor long, but I know he was over here for about three hours. And we had a wonderful time, only about twenty minutes of which did not involve bedtimesexxyfun. And as a result, my neck and lower back are a bit sore. Reminds me of a quote I read years ago: "Both people should walk away from sex satisfied, and if it was really good, at least one of them should be limping." And while I'm not limping, well, it was really good!
Its crazy, we haven't been with each other since early April, but it's like we never parted. We click so perfectly together. We're comfortable together and which each other. And familiarity hasnt ruined anything between us. It's too bad we're not fated for something more than what we have. But then again, I'm happy with what we have. And I'll be happy with it again Saturday when he's planning on coming over and spending the night.

Everybody's working for the weekend...
So Friday after I work I made my way to Borders for their Going Out Of Business Sale. It was busy but not crazy so. And I found roughly $90 worth of books I wanted. There were others I thought of getting, but decided to go back on Monday and see what's left and what the discounts are. the longer it goes, the deeper the discounts should be. Course, I might wait too long and certain things I want will already be gone. but, whatever, those are the chances you take.
It's quite bittersweet, cause I remember ALL the good, no GREAT, times I had there. But then, I haven't worked there for 8 years, so it's been quite some time since those times occured. Still, I do feel like a bit of a vulture picking over a carcass. But with these discounts, yeah, I dont mind being a vulture.
Friday night, unexpectedly, a friend of mine stopped by. I haven't known him very long, maybe 4 months, we met through a mutual friend. He was bored and just stopped by to talk. Which he did, and we did and we watched 'professonal' wrestling (well, HE watched it, I putzed around online mostly). We also ate pizza and drank. Well Lenny drank more than I did, quite a bit of vodka actually. And he had so much that he ended up staying the night. In the spare bedroom, unfortunately. Although, at one point, we were discussing massages, and while I couldn't talk him into allowing me to give him a massage, he did agree to a footrub. Which lead to his calves and so on, to the point where he was wearing only his tshirt and I was massaging his thighs up to his hips. Nothing at all happened, he tired to cover himself up, but he was so relaxed the his shirt rode up, so I did get a nice eyeful. And considering he's only lik 5'5", 135 lbs, it was a rather large eyeful.
So anyway, Saturday morning, we both left, me for work, him for...whereever. Work was okay, not too bad actually. And afterwards, I met A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking and we saw Captain America. Which, by the way, was entirely entertaining. The first half moreso then the last half, which seemed to become a typical Hollywood movie. But the first part made it okay. And a shirtless muscular Chris Evans makes EVER movie a good one. But there were all kinds of little things there for the comic book geeks: The original Human Torch, Arnim Zola, HYDRA, Mr. Stark, and even the plane at the end was the same shape and design as the one drawn in the comics (at least on the outside)! And I'll just say that during the entire Avengers preview after the credits, I was riddled with goosebumps!
Following the movie, we ate at a Chinese buffet in town, going to Lowe's and Wal-Mart as well. Then we parted, and I came home, having a good night here.
Sunday, for some unknown reason, I got up at 8:00. Not that I wanted to, but well there you have it. I putzed around here online and such, until about 1230. Then I walked to the Post Office sweating off the pounds I'm sure. I walked on to McDonalds and waited inside for 10 minutes while only two of the six people in line in front of me got waited on by the ONE person working a register, and then I got pissed off and left. I walked to moms house and ate all her canteloupe and played with Angel quite a bit. She's probably lonely, since Mom's been gone since Tuesday, but she'll be back today. And then I came back here and managed to find a Harry Potter movie in TV.
And that's where things stand now. Just in case anyone was wondering how my weekend's been.

So, Sean and I are done. It ended this evening. I'm not terribly upset about it, and it wasn't entirely unexpected. Even though we had fun together, I'm not sure that we ever really 'clicked' on some level. It was a mutual decision and to my knowledge, there's no hard feelings. He said we could still talk and hang out cause he enjoys my company, to which I said, "Sure!" Although, seriously, I dont believe I'll ever hear from him again, unless I run into him somewhere by accident. I wish him only the best and I still kinda do wish we were still together, cause it was fun, but, it never really jelled, so, it probably was gonna be either sooner or later amyway. I can just consider it fun times with a fun guy, chalk it up to experience, and move on.

The name is Potter, hi there...
Back in 2001 when I was working at Borders, a friend asked me buy Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone for her to give to her kids for Christmas. And I did. And after a bit of time, I contacted her and she said, "Oh, I already got it for them myself, sorry!" Well since I worked at Borders, I thought eh, whatever, I can return it even though its been over a month.
But then, I thought, nah, I'll just hang onto it. I might want to read it and see what all the fuss is about. And I put it aside and pretty much forgot about it. Then, a few years ago, i found it again. I thought of reading it then, but decided to just wait until the movies were over. Once I'd seen all the movies, I figured that's when I'd read the books.
This past Saturday, A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking and I saw The Deathly Hallows Part 2. On the whole, the movie was just meh. I mean it wasn't a bad movie, but it wasn't anything I was gonna rave about. I was entertained and that's all that really matters I guess. But now that I've seen all the movies, I could read the books.
I started the first book yesterday. As of now, I'm over halfway through it. I;ve read all five of the Percy Jackson books, and Harry Potter reminds me a lot of that series (or perhaps it should be the other way around, since Harry Potter came first). Not in plot, but in tone, style, timing, etc. And again, I'm being entertained by it, so that's all that matters, I suppose.
