My birthday song, my happy world (Part 85)...

 Badass Birthday

In 1916, 108 years ago, Jack Kirby was born.   Jack Kirby may not be a household name, but in the comic book industry, he's a god.  Nicknamed The King.

I have never really liked Kirby's art, but I understand and appreciate what he's done for the industry.  Back in the Golden Age, World War II era, Kirby co created many heroes, including the iconic Captain America.

In the early 60s, along with Stan Lee, Jack Kirby helped revolutionize the industry again by co-creating The Uncanny X-Men, The Fantastic Four and helping the bring the Avengers together as it's artist.   He later in the early 70s had a falling out with Marvel and moved to DC where he created the Fourth World/New Gods including the uber villain Darkseid.

The man is truly a god among mortal comic book creators...even if I don't really like his work.

On the right we have Mr. Kirby himself, and on the left we have some of the Marvel characters he cocreated or drew.
