I didn't post until late last night because after work, I spent most of the evening with a new friend. We've known each other about a year, but this was the first time we actually hung out together. He'll be 20 in a week, has brown hair, incredible blue eyes, is 6'2", around 200 nice formed pounds and cute to the point of distraction. He intelligent, articulate, funny, and interesting. We have conflicting opinions on politics, but that didn't deter us from discussing it, along with our goals, and some of our history. We both like Mel Brook films, Monty Python, comic books, and similiar music. It's great being able to drop a 'Holy Grail' reference and finally have someone get it. We hungout and talked, went to get something eat and talked, and watched "History Of The World, Part 1" and, yes, talked. It was an entirely enjoyable evening.
And he's hopelessly straight.
Which ordinarily wouldn't be an issue, as I have many straight friends. But this one...damn, I coulda fallen for him. I think I might have a little. I mean, seriously, from what I know of him and the time we spent together, he's like THE perfect boyfriend material for me. Except of course, he's straight.
*SIGH*I'm not even really looking for a partner, but I thought I might have found one. Or at least decent dating material. But no, twasn't meant to be. It's mostly my fault I feel this way, cause just from the limited way I knew him before last night, I thought he might have been gay. I wasn't sure then, now I know for sure. But alas, we're meant to be only friends. Which is fine, cause he really is an awesome guy, and will be an awesome friend.
But I can't help but be a bit disappointed. But solely because of the expectations and assumptions I made. Counting your chickens early and all that...
