Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow....

Since Sunday, meteorologists have been talking about winter storm Saturn (and if I might digress, whoever decided to start naming winter storms....stop it.  It's stupid.) and how we're going to get 3-6, or 5-10, or 4-8 , or 6-12, or 10-15 inches of snow from it.  It's going to start snowing Tuesday night at 11:00 pm and snow all the way through to Thursday morning.  So, in preparation on Tuesday, I put in a slip to take off Wednesday and possibly Thursday, if need be, and spend the time hunkered down in my house awaiting the blizzard.

Only it never happened.  I'm not one to complain (much), but seriously, this snow storm Saturn has been, so far, a dud.  We might have gotten about six inches of snow, but the temperature warmed up to about 35 or 36 degress, and thus, it all turned to slushy stuff.  Lately there's been more rain than snow.

I got up and hung out around here and did little.  Before showering or eating, about 10:00, I decided to go shovel out, just in case it actually DID turn to snow.  The sidewalk took about three minutes, like it always does.  Shoveling out the car took maybe twenty minutes.  The hood in fact, had no snow on it, it had all slid off.

But while cleaning it off, I broke the driver's side windshield wiper.  While it was still snowing, I had no working windshield wiper.  Nice.  So when I was done with the cleaning, I called mom to see if she needed anything from Wal-Mart, cause that's where I was going to get the replacement.  She said she didn't need anything, but she'd go along.  So after topping off the tank with gas, I picked mom up and we were off.

She suggested going to Advantage Auto, I didn't think they would be open, but they were.  So I pulled in, found myself a wiper blade and took it to the counter, wherein a rather cute black haired guy was working.  He checked it to make sure it was the correct kind and I paid for it.

On prior occasions, I had had trouble getting wiper blades on, so I asked cutie man to help me get it on.  So cutie guy took it outside, lifted the arm up, took the old one off, clipped the new one on and was done.  Well  I felt stupid for breaking it in the first place, but now I felt totally retarded cause I couldn't do something that simple myself.  To be fair, it was a more expensive blade than what I usually get, a different brand and it hooked up differently.  But still.....stupid.

So after dropping mom off, I came home (Sebastian did wonderfully in the snow/slush).  And I immediately walked to Rutters to get something for lunch.  I ordered two cheeseburger dogs.  When my number was called I got the bag, walked home, upbundled myself, sat down, pulled the dogs out, opened one up and found NOT a cheeseburger dog, but a regular hot dog sprinkled with cheese.  What the hell?  So, I re-bundled back up, and walked them back to Rutters.  As soon as I got there, the girl was all excited that I had brought them back and had my cheeseburger dogs all ready for me.

So I came home, enjoyed the cheeseburgers dogs, and spent the remainder of the day (so far) reading and watching porn movies on the Internet.  Despite the broken wiper, snow that needed shoveling, stupidity in front of a cute guy, and having to go BACK out into the weather to get the correct food, it's not been a bad day overall.

Here in RI they've been screaming at the top of their lungs about the foot of snow we're supposed to get.

Except here it is 01:04UTC on Thursday if you go by UTC time and it's just damp out there. Rained on and off - in fact I had to drive up to Needham, MA today and it rained all the way there and all the way back.

Did get a high wind warning on NOAA's RSS feed but thus far, nada.

So I poke fun out of all the chicken littles on Facebook.
