Theme going on and on and on It's not the same anymore...

As I've mentioned I've been watching the James Bond movies on G4, in order, one a night.  One hallmark of the Bond films is the opening credits and theme song.  So having heard so many of them lately, I thought I'd check them all out and compile a list of the best.

Top Ten Bond Film Theme Songs

10) Dr. No

This is a quirky theme, seemingly comprised of three of four different themes.  But it's here at number ten simply because most of it is what is known as "The James Bond Theme" (at least by me).

9) Diamonds Are Forever - Dame Shirley Bassey

One of the cheesiest of all Bond movies, but the theme song is by Dame Shirley Bassey, and that alone warrants a mention here.

8) Octopussy - Rita Coolidge

Certainly THE cheesiest name of any Bond movie, but not the worst one of the bunch.  The theme song is kinda sappy, but it's smooth and...gause-y and easy and stuff.  Not too bad.

7) The World Is Not Enough - Garbage

Again, FAR from a great Bond film (someone needs to teach Denise Richards how to act), but this song makes this list because it's done by Garbage.  Until just recently, I thought Shirley Mansion, lead singer of Garbage, was the second best Bond singer.  She just sounds like she was made to sing Bond themes.

6). For Your Eyes Only - Sheena Easton

This little ditty made Sheena Easton famous the world over.  And the movie itself was pretty darn good too.

5) The Spy Who Loved Me

This song is not titles after the film's title, but is called Nobody Does It Better, by Carly Simon.

4) Live And Let Die - Paul McCartney

One of the few Bond themes sung by a man, but you should know any song by one of the Beatles gonna make a list like this!

3) Die Another Day - Madonna

Here solely because Madonna sang it (hey it's MY list, if you don't like it, go make your own).  But even so, it's great song to dance to, I remember it being in the clubs.  Great remixes.

2) Skyfall - Adele

I've heard they have her lined up for the next movie's theme song as well.  And that's a good thing.  Cause her voice is perfect to sing the sultry, sexy, sublime music of most Bond films.

1) Goldfinger - Damn Shirley Bassey

Not only is this THE best Bond film, but it is THE best Bond theme song, sung by THE best Bond theme singer.  Damn Shirley Bassey *IS* the voice of the the Bond theme.  Adele comes a close second, Shirley Mansion a distant third.  But NO ONE can surpass her.  Or this song.  And the trumpets (or trombones, whatever)!  Best use of them ever!

I always loved "The Living Daylights" by Aha.

"All Time High" is a great one, too.
