Six years and a few hours ago, my father passed away.
But I just wanted to note the...well not anniversary really, but the memory.

Mom and I talked a bit today, not about this specifically, but we were both doing well and actually laughing abut all kinds of other stuff. We did mention it in passing yesterday. But she seems to be doing okay with it all, and I'm fine.

Up on the rooftop, reindeer pause....
So, I had a call from mom just now and ended up yelling at her.
Let me tell you why. She told me "You won't believe what I did today." And I assured her I would never even try to figure out what she did on any given day. So follow this scenario...if you dare.
She thought it was time to put the flannel sheets on the bed. But when she had taken the other ones off, before putting the new ones on, she decided she needed to flip the mattress. Once she dragged the mattress off, she thought she should flip the box springs around, which she did. Then she managed to get the mattress back up and the flannel sheets on. But while doing so, she thought the room was pretty dusty, so she thought to dust it. While doing that, she was dusting windowsills.
Now, a slight digression: On the north side of my mom's bedroom are two windows. The overlook the slightly slanting roof of the living room. There's also one window from another room over looking that roof. Now back to the story (and yeah, I'm pretty sure that you can already see where this is going...)
So while dusting the windowsill, she noticed that under the window to the other room, she thought she saw a crack between the roof and the wall, and she thought that may be that was where some water had been leaking in. So, she went all the way to the basement, got some caulking, then crawled out the window.
Now before we go further allow me to reiterate...she CLIMBED OUT THE FUCKING WINDOW! Onto the sloping roof! And then put caulking in where she thought a hole was. And THEN, she decided to walk all the way across the roof to the EDGE where the chimney is to see how the top of it was doing. The FUCKING chimney. Did I mention it was ON THE EDGE OF THE ROOF! With a TWO STORY drop off right next to her.
And after I yelled at her about that, she says, all calm like, "Yeah, well I went back inside then, because it was cold out there. And I was still in my pajamas."
WHAT THE HELL?????
I yelled at her some more, while she kinda chuckled. And she said, "I dont think you're allowed to yell at your mother." And I told I WAS going to yell at her. And I asked her if she knew why. I said, that was because, "When you fall off the freakin' roof and break several major bones in your body and are in traction in the hospital in a full body cast and can't walk, I'll be able to be in that room slapping you in the forehead and telling you I TOLD YOU SO!"
"I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to slap your mother either."
"Oh, I'm slapping you! On the forehead. There will definitely be slapping!"
My mother....*SIGH*.....

So, as you may or may not know, I'm in a CD exchange with a few online friends. Have been for...well, for a few years I guess. Each month we have a theme and someone to send the CD too, and then I make a CD following that theme and then mail it off.
Well this particular month, for October, the theme is Halloween. Makes sense. And this month Tam and I both have each other. I've sent my CD off last week. Today I got her package from Canada. I opened and out dropped a CD and......this:
Yeah, it's a flash drive. Attached to a long, rubber bandy thing. A long purple rubber bandy thing. With a post-it note attached that reads "NSFW content".
Frankly.....I'm scared.
I emailed her asking her what it is and she replied: "It's a groovy bracelet o'porn!"

Okay...well I dont understand this at all.
After half a day of avoidance (cause I didn't want to deal with my computer problems at all...ever....), everything is fine with the computer.
I came down, turned it on, and it booted up just fine. I got on Facebook, did a little bit and then let it alone, and after about ten, maybe fifteen minutes, I got the blue screen of death.
The computer automatically rebooted. I logged back in and....there was no problem. I logged into Facebook. I did some stuff on Farmville. I logged into Yahoo and checked my mail. I got on Twitter and read through messages. I checked some tumblr sites and looked at some pictures. And then I let the computer sit here.
And now, after having the computer on with no problems for two hours.....everything seems to be fine. Crazy.
Im gonna keep using it all day and we'll see how it goes. I'll run the anti-virals again and we'll see. Computers are great things....when they work. And aren't mysterious and freaky-like.

The Palace is on hiatus, there's something wrong with my computer.
Thank God for my iPhone. I thought it may be a virus, but I ran all three of my anti-virals last night and the found nothing. It was still running VERY slow last night. And what makes me think there IS a virus is that it says I have no restore points made. When I know for a fact I made many of them, probably once a month or so. But now it tells me there are none. And after everything cleared the anti -virals I tried to make a restore point then and after twenty minutes of waiting it still wasn't done. So since I had worked on it from 630 until after 1000 last night, I just shut it down and went to bed.
I took off work today to fool with it (and after doing so I promptly fell asleep again and have just recently woken up. Bad Polt), so hopefully I won't have to reinstall Windows, but I'm ready to do that if I have to today.
So basically the Palace is closed for repairs until I get this straightened out. Hopefully it won't be long. But check back, I'll put something here as soon as it's up and running,
