Today's map shows the Winter Severity Index over the span of 34 years.

Presumably, the higher the number, the more severe it is. I'm actually kinda surprised to see that far western Texas is similar to the area of eastern Maryland, the DC/Baltimore area. I know how bad the weather can get there, and I never expected it to be the same as in Texas.
