Today In The History Of Polt's Comic Book Collection

Let's go back 35 years to November 1981.  I purchased this particular comic book then.

This is Adventure Comics #487.  At this particular time, they were running a feature called Dial H For Hero.  The basis being there is this magical dial with several letters on it.  If one dials H-E-R-O, then whoever dialed it becomes a random superhero.  Two teens, Chris King and Vicki Grant, have the dial and use it to make themselves heroes to fight the various villains that popped up.  There was a gimmick about it all....readers could send in submissions for heroes, their powers and even sometimes, what they looked like.   Interesting idea, but it made for odd characters and storylines.
