Badass Birthday
On this date, in 1933, in Los Angeles, Julie Newmar was born!
She has been active as an actress since 1952, nearly 75 years! She's appeared on film, on TV and on stage. She has earned a Tony and a Golden Globe. She owns two US Patents for pantyhose and two other patents for brassieres! She studied real estate at UCLA and has invested in properties and managed them. She even appeared in a George Michael video! Quite the Renaissance Woman, yeah?
I know her as an actress, from roles such as Eleen on the original Star Trek; Ophelia in an episode of Bewitched; an episode of Columbo; Claudette from the Bionic Woman episode "Black Magic" (man I LOVED the episode and show as a kid); and a cameo in the outstanding mid-90s drag queen epic "To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar!"
And while all that IS impressive, she's really a badass because, for 2 seasons, she played the arch-villainous on the 60s Batman TV show; Catwoman! Rowr!
