Badass Birthday
On this date, 120 years ago in 1906 in Philadelphia, Janet Gaynor was born.
Janet Gaynor was an actress who worked in film, stage and television. She started as an extra in silent films and rose to starring roles in later films. She won the first Oscar for Best Actress in 1928. Later in 1937 she received another Oscar nomination for Best Actress in A Star Is Born. She retired from film in 1939. In the 50s she did some work on television and in 1980 she made her Broadway debut.
She passed away in 1984 at the age of 78. But winning the VERY FIRST Oscar in any category is surely a sign of a badass!
