Ring through my ear and sting my eyes, your Spanish lullaby (Part 12)....

 Hispanic Heroes Month

Oops, missed this one yesterday.

Feral

Maria Callasantos was born in NYC.   She was a mutant who at puberty developed feline features and gained fur, strength, speed, reflexes, claws and a perhinsile tail.   She was a member of X-Factor, and she was later killed somehow.  But surely, she'll be back as no one ever stays dead in comics.

She was created in the very early 90s when comics were all about violent anti-heroes who killed indiscriminately to show how 'cool' they were and they were "the best there is at what they do".  Eye roll.   She was a pointless violent creature with little character development, but also at this time, comics cared less about characters, plot and story and cared more, and almost exclusively, about how 'cool' the art was.   Sad.
