So continuing the saga of the plumbing, here it is.
At lunch I took a load of clothes up to mom's that I'd wash while we ate. When I returned home, I took the clothes down to put in the dryer, and there was a mini-flood again. It wasn't receding, just kinda sitting there.
As I have to work tomorrow, I won't be home. So mom called the plumber to make the arrangements. When I went to get the clothes out of the dryer, it had all gone away again. So it's still not blocked, but is severaly clogged.
So, while I can get water in my house from the taps and such, disposing of water in my house is verboten. I'm washing my hands in a basin, and I'll throw the water out in the alley. I put some water in a bucket and I'm peeing in that, and I'll dump it down the sewer drain out front before I go to bed. And poopie runs are now made to mom's house. Yeah, good times.
I was gonna just take my shower at mom's tomorrow for work, but I think what I'll do is put the plug in the shower and just take a real quick one. And I'll brush my teeth and shave over a basin as well. Then, hopefully, when I get home from work tomorrow afternoon, everything will be back to the way its supposed to be. Just like magic. Except I'll have to pay for it eventually.
And the dishwasher...well, the plumber said he's busy on a job nearby, but when he gets a break, he'll come down and unclog it. But the dishwasher isn't an immediate problem. But I don't wanna wait WEEKS for a dishwasher! I HATE doing dishes! I'd prefer to be without a clothes washer than a dishwasher.
Oh well, hopefully tomorrow after work the worst of my problems will be overwith.

All the long black funeral cars left the scene and...
This past week, a US Park Ranger at the Gettysburg Battlefield was shot and killed in the line of duty. Yesterday, his viewing was held here in my town (where he used to live and was going to be buried), and 1800 people showed up. They had to have it in the High School auditorium.
Today was his funeral. They were expecting 2000 or more people. The route to the cemetary was going right in front of my house. At 4:29, the first of the motorcycle escorts passed me. The last car of the processional passed at 5:03. There were even a few times when they got backed up and actually were stopped in front of my house. My house is 7 blocks or so from the cemetary. It was the largest collection of police cars in one place that I have ever seen.
I live in south central PA. There were cars from agencies all over the surrounding area, which is to be expected. US Park Service cars were also in aboundance. But we also noticed cars from the following states: Maryland, DC, Virginia, West Virginia, New Jersey, New York (even upstate NY, like around Buffalo), Massachusetts, Connecticut, Ohio, and while we're not positive, we also thought we saw a car or two go by holding Canadian Mounties (well, they were wearing red uniforms and wearing the Mounties hats, so it's possible). We had heard there were officers there from as far away as Florida, Kansas, Texas and even California!
It was quite a show of unity, brotherhood and support. And a touching one as well.
I got a few photos and took a quite movie, although neither show the whole spectacle adequately.

Bits-N-Pieces
I got home from work today and threw a load of clothes in the washer. When I went down to put them in the dryer, the floor was flooded. The drain was clogged, oh joy. Mom came down with her drain snakes and we tried to unclog it. The water had actually gone by itself, it isn't blocked, just clogged. And in a totally related incident, the dishwasher leaked into the basement the other day as well. *SIGH* Plumber will be called Monday, hopefully he can get here early next week. Home ownership sucks.******************************************
Saw "Due Date" last night with A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking, his missus and Ghostie. The movie was horrid, possibly THE stupidest movie I have ever seen in my life. Definitely the stupidest in the last year. It was basically "Planes, Trains And Automobiles", but with a more idiotic John Candy character and a less likeable Steve Martin character. The situations were completely implausible, the reactions to the situations, moronic and unbelievable. And did they go just for comedy? Oh NO! They attempted to tug at your heartstrings and instead just came off as phoney.
The attractiveness of Robert Downey Jr. could not make his character believable or likable. And Zack GrizzilyBeardikus, or whatever the hell his name is, was just playing the exact same character that he played in "The Hangover." Its like they took that guy right outta that script and dropped him into this one. And it was tired, and unoriginal, and frankly, just stupid.
There was some pretty decent music in it, but that's about it. I mean, what else can you say about a movie wherein an adult punches a prepubescent kid in the stomach, where there is spitting on pet dogs, where there is a fight with a guy in a wheelchair, and where someone drinks his own father's ashes. Yeah, it's played for laughs, but frankly, none of it is funny.
If you feel you MUST see this movie, wait for Netflix. Don't waste your hard earned cash on this flop.
*******************************************
The movie was a matinee, $8 (!). I wasted money getting a medium popcorn and medium coke (which was actually the size of a two liter, or more. And the kid who sold it to me helpfully informed me that I could get a free refill on that. A REFILL?!!?!?! For God's sake, if I had refill it two times I'd have had enough Pepsi to fill a pool and go swimming in!), and that "deal" was $12.25 (!!). After the movie, the ParisPekings and I went out to eat. I had fish-N-chips and two Coors Lights. Total bill, with tip? $12.14!!! I am NEVER buying popcorn and a coke again. What a ripoff!
*******************************************
On the way to the restaurant after the movie, I was flipping through the radio channels and came up 95.1, WKYZ. Friday night, November 19th, the Friday before Thanksgiving, over a month before the holiday, the station has gone to an All-Christmas Music format.
I wanted to shove mistletoe sprigs deep into my ears until I could no longer hear it.
Last year, I got into Christmas music heavily, and for the first time in my life. I enjoyed listening to the All-Christmas music station then. but that was like for three weeks or less before Christmas, not a week before Thanksgiving! Oh, and Santa's already come to the local malls. Before THANKSGIVING! ARRRRGHHH!!!!!!
*******************************************
This week, I got a card in the mail from the Great White North, from the Canadianly awesome Tam. Here's a photo of the cover:
As if that weren't enough, inside I got a funny happy birthday greeting (a week before my birthday, but still. She was the first this year!). Also inside was a gift she got me in San Francisco:
It's a SuperGay Magnet. Said she saw it and thought of me. How flattering. And appropriate. And appreciated. So thanks Tam, for my first birthday card, gifts and wishes!

And of course, what would a post like this be without a hot guy?

She's got issues and i'm gonna pay yeah hey...
Some comments on a few recent events.
Issue 1: Those full body scanners at the airports and the 'backlash'. I suppose having to stand in a glass booth and be subjected to x-rays may indeed be an inconvenience. But I would assume that being in a plane that blows up because some moron decided smuggle some explosives inside his underwear would be much more inconvenient.
You wanna talk backlash? Just imagine the backlash if some terrorist manages to blow up an airplane full of people over NYC. Or DC. Or LA. Or Chicago. Or any major city. You think there won't be backlash then?
Look, people, I know it sucks having you x-ray taken wherein someone else can see your small penis, or saggy boobs or rolls of fat. But really, don't you want to arrive at your destination alive? If its more important than you not be scanned in this fashion, or subjected to a pat down, then either drive or stay the hell home.
Issue 2: Sarah Palin's tv show on Discovery premiered recently. Someone who went to school with the Palin girls had a tweet or something saying the show sucked. Willow Palin, Sarah's 16 year old daughter called him a faggot on Twitter.
Yeah, that's good old fashioned down home Family Values for you. Of course calling someone a faggot probably is 'family values' among the wife-trash, redneck Palin family. And I daresay, quite a number of her Tea Party supporters would have no problem with that.
Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, the outcry from the mainstream media has been luke warm at best. I just have to wonder, what if Willow used "kike" or 'nigger' instead of faggot. Would the outcry have been so lackluster?
And why do Palin and her family get such a pass? I suppose since Sarah 'sells' (both with those that hate her and those that love her), the media is loathe to upset one who so much helps pay their bills.

People's lives seem more interesting 'cuz they ain't mine...
So, there's been very little personal news of note in here lately. Let's change that. I doubt this'll be exciting or particularly interesting, but at least it won't be just reposted pictures I found on the Internet (even as hot and sexy as those photos may be).
So Sunday, I went to eat at aka Friscos with A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking. Good company, great conversation, even better food. We then visited Wal-Mart, where he bought diapers (ah, the illustrious duties of fatherhood), and Best Buy, where I bought some movies I didn't need but got anyway. ALCMDPP returned home, and I came back here.
I watched Cincinnati lose, which kept me in the Loser's Pool (having been kicked out of the Winner's Pool by a Jet's loss a few week's ago). Then ALCMDPP came to my house (after helping his wife clean up their house in preperation for the arrival of his mother this week) and we watched the Dallas Cowboys totally surprising romp all over the NY Giants. And in addition to the sheer joy of watching them win, win big, and win over the Giants, we nommed on Dominos Pizza.
After this, as I putzed around online I had a nice long talk to FDot covering a myriad of subjects. Then I went to bed, read, and then to sleep.
Today, I got to sleep in a bit, which was pretty darn nifty. Once I got up and harvested some crops (don't judge), I took Sebastian out to get his tires rotated before winter hits. Also, the indicator that there were issues with tire inflation had been on a few weeks. I put some air in the tires but it stayed on. So I had the guy check that, and he said they were all OVERinflated. DUH...guess that was me. He got them to the correct pressure, rotated the tires, and I was on my way.
I went to the Credit Union to deposit some cash. I stopped by mom's, even though she wasn't there, read the papers, played with the dog, and left a check for some money I owed mom. Then I had a nommy lunch at Montezumas!
I putzed around here this afteroon, tidying up, doing laundry, running the dishwasher, etc. And now I'm settling to watch the Eagles - Redskins game. I don't like either team, but I dislike the Eagles a little less than I dislike the Skins, so I supposed I'll root for them.
And to top it all off, tomorrow I've taken a Personal Day! Wanted to use my last one, cause if I don't use it this year, I lose it, and with the holidays and vacations and (I hope to GOD soon) a retirement I don't know if I'll have an opportunity to use it in time. So by taking it tomorrow, I get a nice sweet three day weekend. Works for me.
So my work schedule the next couple weeks are as follows: off tomorrow, work 4, off 1, work 3, off 2, work 1, off 2, and then back to regular work weeks (until Christmas). Not a bad I dare say.

A mid-morning cup of tea helps get one through the day.
4:45PM
Snacking on mixed nuts. Cashews...yummy.....

Took a short walk to a local grocery and walked past a well lit Rutter's Convience Store along the way.
6:34PM
Henicles Market, the local grocery.
