Chapter 1, page 30...
Nothing much really to talk about for today. Got up, got to work. Work was....eh, work. Nothing exciting. A rather average day. After work...again, nothing exciting. I came home and just watched more episodes of Star Trek; Enterprise. Before going to bed, I had a cough. Not a bad one, more like just a dry, irritating one. So I had just enough NyQuil left in the bottle to finish it off. So I took it. I went to bed, read a bit, then turned out the lights...
Chapter 1, page 31...
...And I didn't wake up until the alarm went off! Didn't wake up having to pee. Didn't wake up having to shift positions. didn't wake up at all. Damn, that was a great sleep.
I got up and to work and after a somewhat busy morning, the afternoon was dull and boring. Which was a nice break and a pleasant way to end the week. After work, mom came down and we took down all the interior Christmas decorations and the Christmas tree. Yeah, I know, I had them up too long, but really, I got them down within the first month of the year, so that's a good thing, right?
Mom and I then went back to her house, where she had prepared supper: meat loaf and baked potatos. Delicious. After that, I returned here to my house and did absolutely nothing but watch more Enterprise and putz around on the computer. I haven't gone to bed yet as I type this, but after this episode I've just started I probably will. And that will complete the first chapter of this year's book.

Not too much to write today. Work was fine all day. There was sleet, freezing rain and snow on the drive home, but it wasn't too bad, I just took it slow and got home safely. Stopped at Rutters for a delicious sub, which I definitely should NOT have had, cause, despite it's deliciousness, it threw my blood sugar all out of whack. Which I knew it would. But even I didn't expect the 355 rating at my bedtime check. This morning it was 188...not good, but not as bad as it has been. *SIGH*
In the evening, I was on the computer a bit, read some. And then decided to start binge watching Star Trek: Enterprise. Got through the first episode two parter and through the second one. It's surprisingly not as bad as I remembered...at least through these two episodes. Course, there was the blatant sexism of having the female alien, the beautiful female alien, have the ability to detect whether someone is 'trust worthy'...but of COURSE she has to kiss them to do it. *SIGH* And then there was the Vulcan lady and Trip having to rub each other with disinfectant gel upon return to the ship. Really? Just a thin pretense to show Jolene Blaock in panties and a flimsy top with her HUGE breasts and erect nipples tenting out the front. Sad really.
But anyway, after watching these I went to bed, read, and soon to sleep.

Chapter 1, page 28...
So yesterday, work was okay, in the morning anyway. IN the afternoon, I had a meeting and then after that, since a coworker of mine had to go home for an emergency around his house, I had to sit in on some hearings with another agency. We have these hearings periodically, and I hate them. I detest them with a passion. And I wasn't planning on having to them yesterday, but...well I had to do it cause there was no one else.
And dear GOD I hated it. It was so frustrating. And it pissed me off. Tremendously. It was hectic and I had no patience for all the shit that was going down. Shit that was, well, actually nothing, but since I was dealing with it and this other agency, I blew them all up into these huge mountains of shit. I think I have a mental block about having to deal with this agency. But oh it was awful.
And then, coming home from work, naturally I got behind every stinking slow driving idiot from my work to my home...a serious case of road rage...or work rage that just bled over to the road. When I got back to town I paid my car insurance at the agency, and then stopped at Rutters and got a batch of their BBQ wings. THE best wings around. I did quite enjoy them.
I just hung out here the rest of the night, playing on the computer, watching some TV reading. I actually, later in the evening, started watching YouTube videos, and kinda got lost in them. Stayed up later than I intended. And then I went to bed and quickly to sleep.

I like the sound of this business enterprise....
So, I've decided to binge watch Star Trek: Enterprise. I've done so with all the other Star Treks, so I figured, since I've got this one on NetFlix streaming (thanks again, ALCMDPP), I figured why not?
I was NOT impressed with it the first time around. In fact, I think it's clearly and easily the worst series of the Star Trek franchise. But after binge watching Deep Space 9 and Voyager, the series were not as bad as I originally thought. I'm hoping the same will happen this time...although I hold out little hope.
I gotta say, though, that song at the beginning credits.....STILL sucks. And Ensign Mayweather...is still really hot!

Chapter 1, Page 27...
Got to work after shoveling off the sidewalk and the car (it didn't take long, was less than an inch of snow) and going to Rutters for coffee (this is becoming a regular everyday thing now). Work itse;f went rather well. I had several things to do, didn't get them all done, though, because of idiot clients and obnoxious coworkers. Normally, neither of those things bother me, and I guess they didn't really BOTHER me today either, but they were....annoyances.
After work, as planned, I stopped by Derick's for a lil sumthin, sumthin. And then, after hitting a grocery store, I returned home. Had burgers (sans buns) for supper, with pickes, mac salad and some chips. Not the best carb wise, but damn did it taste good.
Kris and I (yes THAT Kris) have been chatting on Facebook and texting a bit recently. I texted him about plans we had to Wednesday, but after discussing it, we put them off until Monday after my Doctor's appointment. Not sure what we're gonna do. I know he's gonna show me the new house he's in. And other than that....no idea.
I'm glad to be keeping in touch with him, but I'm a bit worried. I'm not sure I'm over him. Not sure I ever will be. I mean, I think he's the one ex i have that should he call me tomorrow and ask to get back together, I'd go in a heartbeat. And I think I might do that if I were single like I am now, or even if I were with someone. I never had such strong feelings for ANY guy as I've had for Kris. And still do. Even though I've come to terms that we're not going to be couple. And I'm very glad he's not the manipulative type, cause I'm pretty sure he could be manipulating me with little effort. And i'm pretty sure I'd just go right along, even if I knew I was being manipulated. That's all a bit frightening to me, and I hope I'm not acutally like that.....but I think I might be. I'm not totally in sync with whatever my feeling may be...I'll just have to play it by ear.
At any rate, we're supposed to hang out Monday, so we'll see.
After this, I was flipping around on my NetFlix streaming (thanks again ALCMDPP) and stumbled up Galaxy Quest. I saw the movie in the theater and was very underimpressed. I'd go as far as to say I did not enjoy it. But I thought I'd give it another shot.
And while I didn't love it this time around, I did laugh several times, and I did enjoy and have a good time watching it. It's better the second time seeing it.
I went to bed a bit early, and turned out the light a bit before 11:00.

Twent nine years ago today, I was sitting in my Senior Year typing class. I was a very fast typist, but not an accurate one. And that hasn't changed a whole lot over the ensuing years.
At any rate, we were all typing when, around noon time, someone burst into the room. I dont recall if it was a teacher or a student. But they shouted to our teacher (I forget her name, but can see her face as clear as day) that the shuttle had blown up!
All the typewriters fell silent and she, the teacher, said, "WHAT?" And the other person said again, "The Shuttle blew up! It's on the news!" and then they ran out of the room to, I suppose, inform other people.
Out teacher got up and went to the door that connected us to the classroom next door. The teacher of that room was just coming into our room, and yes, she had heard of that news too.
I was stunned. I mean, in all my life, every time we launched a rocket, or, in the last couple years, a Space Shuttle, it gone off without a hitch. It had become routine. And I was in shock to think it could blow up.
I dont remember much else about that day. I do remember the Christa McAuliffe jokes started like the next day. I thought them cold, callous, and unfunny. And definitely too soon after the tragedy.
But when people ask me, "Do you remember when you heard that Challenger blew up?" I can tell them honestly, I do.

Chapter 1, Page 26...
SO this was the day of the Big Blizzard Of 2015....that wasn't. I mean, yeah, we got some snow and stuff, but nothing like what they predicted.
I had a doctors appointment, but I called to cancel it (attempting to do so on Sunday, but not being able to leave a message on their voicemail) and after waiting 45 minutes on hold I finally got through to cancel it and reschedule it for next Monday.
Other than doing a load of laundry, I spent the entire day just chillin. I read a lot, was on the computer a lot, never even turned the TV on once. I only left the house to get the newspaper in the morning and then to walk to The Waynesburger for supper, and had leftover pasta for lunch.. Oh and naturally I napped. Twice. But hey, it was a lazy day.
Mom called me and we spent a frustrating twenty minutes on the phone with me trying to explain to her how to change her Yahoo password. *SIGH* But then I was on the other end later in the evening...
Friday, everything worked fine with my computer. Suddenly Saturday, some videos weren't playing. Well they were playing and I could hear them, but all I saw was a black screen. Then, suddenly and without reason yesterday, Vines did the same thing. And then later I noticed the video *I* had posting on YouTube started doing it as well...but not all the other videos! I couldn't understand what was happening! I it was very frustrating as well.
So on Facebook I messaged StratCat and we spent the next half hour, messaging back and forth with her suggesting things, then having to tell me where to click and stuff, and me trying it. And then having to tell me where to CORRECTLY click and stuff...cause she's much more computer savvy than me. But the bottom line is, she got it fixed for me! YAY! And now I can view ALL the videos as God intended them to be viewed (although whether God intended any of those videos to be viewed at ALL is a different issue). And all it cost me is a bottle of Asti for her sometime soon!
And after that, I went to bed to read and then to sleep.

Grabs my soul, shakin' through my body like a Super Bowl (2014 Season)....
As I'm sure all of your know, Super Bowl XLIX (49 for those non-Roman numeral readers amongst you) is taking place a this coming Sunday. And it's time for me to use several different categories to give all of you the inside info on who's going to win the game! Let's begin!
Winner: Tie
I'm also certain Ghostie would disagree with us and pick the Patriots, as they are HIS team. But since Ghostie's not in the betting game with us, it's moot. So...
1) The Cities
(New England) Boston, Massachusetts
Seattle, Washington
Okay, I've never been to either place. So let's go by their nicknames: Seattle is known as the Emerald City, Boston is known as...Bean Town.
Winner: Seahawks (obviously)
************
2) Team Name
New England Patriots
Patriot: a person who loves, supports, and defends his or her country and its interests
with devotion.
Seattle Seahawks
Seahawk: a brown, white, and black predatory seabird with a hooked beak
Winner: Patriots
************
3) Team Logo
New England Patriots:
Seattle Seahawks:
Hmmm, I don't know...I'm gonna have to say they're pretty much the same, in terms of coolness, so...
Winner: Tie
************
4) Season Record/Win Percentage
New England Patriots: 14-4
Seattle Seahawks: 14-4
So again...
Winner: Tie
************
5) Super Bowl History
New England Patriots have been to 7 Super Bowls and only won 3 of them: 42.86 win percentage
Seattle Seahawks: have been to 2 Super Bowls and won 1 of them: 50 win percentage
Ergo:
Number of Appearances: Patriots
Number of Wins: Patriots
Best win percentage: Seahawks
So, Winner: Patriots
************
6) Coaches
New England: Bill Belichick.
He is 62 years old. He's been head coach of the Patriots since 2000 (15 years). He's coached the team to 6 prior Super Bowls and 3 wins.
Seattle: Pete Carroll
He is 63 years old. He's been head coach of the Seahawks since 2010 (5 years). [Interestingly, he was the Patriots head coach from 1997-99, immediately prior to Belichick's arrival] He's coached the team to 1 prior Super Bowl, with that being a win.
Belichick has the experience of more years with his team, but Carroll's done more with his team, and taken them to more wins, in less time, than Belichick.
Considering how all this kinda balances each other out, I'll just say I've never, EVER seen Belichick smile, maybe he doesn't know how to, and Carroll's all kinds of emotional all the time. So I'm giving the edge to the smiling emotional guy.
Winner: Seahawks
************
7) Team Quarterbacks: Experience
New England: Tom Brady, 37 years old. Been with the Patriots since 2000 (15 years). Led the team to 6 prior Super Bowls, winning 3 of them. NFL MVP twice.
Seattle: Russell Wilson, 26 years old. Been with the Seahawks since 2012 (3 years). Led the team to 1 prior Super Bowl, with that being a win. NFL Rookie Of The Year, 2012.
I've got to go with the guy who's been at this team 5x's longer than the other, has been to a Super Bowl 6xs more than the other, and has won 3xs more Super Bowls than the other: Brady.
Winner: Patriots
************
The experience of the quarterbacks is noteworthy, but now on to the REALLY important stuff:
8) Team Quarterbacks: Cuteness (Face)
New England: Tom Brady
Tom doesn't look his 37 years, but he's showing his age, and the hairthing helps, but....then there's....
Seattle: Russell Wilson
Looks younger than his 26 years, but damn that smile! And his pinchable cheeks. Oh he's just aDORable.
Winner: Seahawks
************
9) Team Quarterbacks: Sexiness (Body)
Unfortunately, while there are several shirtless pics of Brady, Russell seems to have NEVER taken his shirt off in public. So let's go with them in the next best thing: Wife-Beaters!
New England: Tom Brady
Seattle Seahawks: Russell Wilson
Pffffft, is there ANY doubt?
Winner: Seahawks
************
10) Other Star Player
New England: Rob Gronkowski, tight end
Damn....looks like The Gronk is tight EVERYWHERE!
Seattle: Richard Sherman, cornerback
Even with the dreads and that rocking, lean, hot body Sherman has, I really think I gotta go with The Gronk on this one. Might have been different if I found a pic with Sherman in red boxer briefs...
Winner: Patriots
************
11) Team city distance from Super bowl
The closer the city is, the more likely there'll be more fans of that team in the stands, so...
New England (Boston), Mass to Glendale, Arizona: 2699 miles
Seattle, Wash to Glendale, Arizona: 1401 miles
Winner: Seahawks
**********
12) My Bets
This year, I have picked the Seattle Seahawks. ALCMDPP has conccured with that decision (meaning he's going to owe me $27 at the end of the season, since he's not taking a bet on the Super Bowl).
I'm also certain Ghostie would disagree with us and pick the Patriots, as they are HIS team. But since Ghostie's not in the betting game with us, it's moot. So...
Winner: Seahawks
************
So that brings the final tally to:
Seattle Seahawks: 6 wins
New England Patriots: 4 wins
Ties: 2
And therefore, Seattle will win it's second Super Bowl in a row, joining the 67-68 Packers, 73-73 Dolphins, 75-76 Steelers, 79-80 Steelers, 89-90 49ers, 93-94 Cowboys, 98-99 Broncos, and the 04-05 Patriots to do so.
Bank on it.

Someone book me a room (Part 25)...
Chapter 1, Page 25....
I got up a bit earlier than usual for a Sunday and putzed around here, on the computer, read a bit, paid the upcoming months bills and prepared them for mailing, that sorta stuff. Then at 10:45, I made breakfast: eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, milk. Yummy.
I read the Sunday paper and then called mom, to know when to go to her house. On the way, I went to the Post Office and then to the Dollar Store to get a few things. I went to her place soon after noon. Since she'll be moving out of the house, probably sometime this year, she wanted to get the back part of the attic cleaned. Which meant going through all the stuff back there and, like the boardgames last week, deciding which stuff she wanted to keep, which to sell, and which to throw away.
It was pretty dusty back there, and I didn't have a mask, so I wrapped a hanky around my face. Dust like that is real bad for my allergies.
And then up we went. There were tons of baby clothes, a bunch of my baby toys (and she was oohing, and awwwing over almost every piece). In the end, she put a whole bunch of stuff aside that I didn't think would sell at auction at all, but it's her stuff, and her auction, so whatever. AND, we carried four very large and three large garbage bags full of junk down two flights of stairs to throw away. As well as two drawers...what they were from, I have no idea.
I came home, stopping to get a cup of Rutters coffee on the way, and again, did very little around here. I read, putzed around on the computer. Really nothing. About 6:00 I made...well it was my lunch and supper, I don't know what you call that. Put it was pasta. And I couldn't eat it all, so I'll probably have the rest of it tomorrow for lunch.
After this, more reading and relaxing until "Downton Abby" came on, which I watched. And now that that's over, it's off to bed.
The snow from the 'blizzard' hasn't started yet, but we're supposed to get like 6-8 inches, I think tomorrow. All day. Not as bad a NYC and Boston are supposed to get (they're calling the storm 'historic', two feet of snow in NYC, over 30 inches in Boston!), but still, I plan on spending all day inside tomorrow. It'll be a laundry/reading/possibly streaming Netflix kinda day.
