If I were a hero, I'd be Martin Luther (Part 107)...

Superhero Anydays

I LOVE this.  Someone took and old vintage photographs of, I guess, circus performers, and made them all into members of the Legion Of Super-Heroes!

Here we have Saturn Girl, Phantom Girl, Triplicate Girl, Shadow Lass, Sun Boy, Chameleon Boy, Timber Wolf, Cosmic Boy and Colossal Boy (and it looks like Mon-El was chopped off on the right).

Very nicely done!

Chapter 1, Pages 23....

Friday, at work, it was....well work.  I got stuff done, processed paperwork, interview a client, the usual.  Nothing at all exciting.  After work I was to go to Derick's, but when I texted him, he said he couldn't.   So instead of driving to his place, I drove to Taco Bell (again), got supper, brought it home and ate it.  Then, I didn't do much of anything else until I went to bed, really.

They were calling for 4-6 inches of snow, with a bit of ice beforehand, starting Friday night, into Satruday, ending about noon.  So Friday at work, I told the supervisor who'd be working Saturday to just assume I wouldn't be in on Saturday. I told him I didn't want to put a leave slip in, in case the weather wasn't as bad as forecast, and then I'd come in.  But then, and even later at home once it started raining, sleeting, snowing, I knew I wouldn't be going to work on Saturday.

Page 24...

About 2:30 in the morning, I got up to use the bathroom and looked out the bathroom window.  And without my glasses, at night, with no light, it looked the entire back yard was covered in snow and it was still coming down.  So when I returned to bed, I knew for sure I wouldnt be going to work.  I reset my alarm from 6:15 (in time to get up for work) to 8:00 (so I could then call-in when the supervisor got there and tell him to put a leave slip in for me).

I woke up on my own about 7:50 and used the bathroom.  And when I looked out the window....there was like two inches of snow, if that, and it had already melted off my car's hood.  I went to a window at the front of the house and looked out...and the roads were just wet, although there was a bit of snow on the sidewalks and yards.  *SIGH*

So i called in to work, and told them I'd be late.  Then I showered quickly, didn't shave, threw on a tshirt, and headed out.  I shoveled off the sidewalk, and then the car (neither of which took much time) and then went to Rutters cause I NEEDED a cup of their coffee, with French Vanilla.

Work was light, with only four clients all day. I spent time talking to some clients already there and getting caught up with more paperwork.  We ordered Chinese and had it delivered, although I wasn't really impressed with it. I got General Tso's Chicken, which i LOVE from the local Chinese place here in town.  But this stuff today was clearly....well not as good.

My cousin Tracy, who had lil Morgan back in early October, was home for the weekend, and was visiting mom when I got off work.  So I just went right over there, and hung out a bit.  And got to hold him and talk to him.  He's simply adorable.  See?

After they left, mom and I talked a bit and I came home.  I was flipping through the channels and stumble upon the beginning of the movie "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" on regular cable (not Netflix).  I had never seen it, nor read the book, although I've heard many good things about it.  And I did quite enjoy it.

And now, I'm just waiting to go to bed here soon to read.  I hope to get this book finished soon.  I've been reading it since the first of the month!

Chapter 1, Page 22...

This morning, first thing, I had to get blood taken.  So off I went, the roads weren't too bad from the previous day's weather, but they weren't great either.  At least in Pennsylvania.  As usual, once I hit Maryland, things improved.

Anyway, got the blood taken without issue, even though it was new nurse getting it, well new to me.  And I felt her moving it a bit once she had it in there, but it only cause a grimace, no real pain.  Usually afterwards, since it has to be fasting, I stop at Denny's and have a breakfast of all the stuff I shouldn't have: pancakes, syrup, orange juice, toast, hash browns, etc.  But today, I just went on to work and had my usual oatmeal and black coffee.

As it was my first day back there since Saturday, it was catch up day at work.  Got most of the stuff done I wanted to, and it was a pretty laid back day.  In an email I saw the boss stuck up for my department over an issue, which honestly wasn't out fault.  And when I saw him later in the day I thanked for that, especially since the previous boss, who thank GOD retired in August of 2013, would have thrown the entire department under the bus, whether it was our fault or not.  It's so great to know your superior has your back.

After work, while at the grocery store, Derick called, he wanted me to stop by, but since I had already bought frozen stuff and had it in my car, I had to decline. It's not often I turn down a hot lil black guy with a bubble butt and.....ample equipment.  But today I did.  But we rescheduled for tomorrow.

During the day, mom came by the house and dropped off some of her homemade chicken corn soup and homemade bread. (every time we get snow, she does some cooking, usually homemade bread and like soup or chili or something like that)  And so that was what I ate for supper, and it was delicious.

After that, I just watched more documentary stuff on Netflix and then went to bed a bit early and read before going to sleep.  I was tired after getting up kinda earlier than normal.

Leather groups, we'll rock you like a nincompoop.....

Facebook, as it does from time to time, has suggested groups for me that I might want to join.  Here are the three on the page right now:

"An Homage To Don Newton"
Don Newton was a comic book artist who died in the mid-80s.  But prior to that, he was one of my favorite artist.  He did some great work on Shazam in Adventure Comics in the late 70s.  Always a fan of this.

So yeah, that one actually makes sense.

"Kerry Gammill Fans"
I had to Google who he was (I actually thought it was the name of some young actress from the late 90s....but I digress).  He too is a comic book artist, one still alive and working in the business.  And once I Googled him and saw some of his work, I knew who they were talking about.

So, okay, even though I didn't recognize the name, this one makes sense too.

Chapter 1, Page 21....

I was supposed to go to work today, but because I still wasn't feeling quite right, I called in yesterday and took the day off.  I did end up showering in the morning (cause I didn't the day before, and washing the oogies of two days off always makes me feel better).  I spent most of the day on the couch (again) watching the documentary "Mankind: The Story Of All Of Us".

I did go out and shovel off the sidewalk twice and shoveled out the car once.  But we got less than two inches of snow.  And it was above freezing, so the snow was melting pretty well too.  I had a big salad for supper, cause Thursday morning I have bloodwork, and I wasn't to eat healthy the night before.  NOT that it'll make any difference with the A1C, but it might with the fasting blood sugar.  Not that that's really the issue anyway.  Oh, whatever.  Plus I ate at 6, and had nothing else the rest of the night but water, as it has to be fasting.

I went to bed before 9, but what with reading and doing stuff on my phone, it was still 1030 ish before I went to sleep.

Oh, and in the morning, I DID take down the big wreath on the front window, the wreaths I had on the doors, and the potted tree with Christmas balls all over it. Basically, I took down the outside Christmas decorations.  Indoors, the tree, lights and stockings are all still up.  Don't judge.  And remember, in the apartment one year, I didn't take my Christmas down (and it was only a small two footer), until right after Memorial Day.  So, in the larger scheme of things, this is actually something positive.  Right?

Someone book me a room (Part 20)...

Chapter 1, Page 20...

Today I was off work because the King Holiday fell on my regular day off.  It was a very lazy day. I didn't even shower at all.  My car was at the mechanic getting inspected, so I couldn't go anywhere.  Well anywhere I couldn't walk,   And as I didn't have a shower, I didn't really want to walk anywhere.  I spent almost the entire day on the sofa, finishing "Ken Burns: Prohibition" and started watching another documentary "Mankind: The Story Of All Of Us".  Didn't get all the way through it though.

I made pasta for lunch, dont judge.  Mom took me down to the mechanic's about 3:00 and I paid him and brought the car home.

I mentioned Monday I was having some stomach issues.  Those continued on and off all day.  Not an upset stomach, really, but pains...beyond my stomach.  That's the best way I can describe it.  And really.....bad poos.  And there's no better way I can, or should, describe that.  I still wasn't feeling right in the evening, so I called in and took Wednesday off.

I did not watch the State Of The Union, but I DID see Obama's great bitch slap of the Republicans after social media blew up with it. (See the post below with all the videos if you don't know what I'm talking about).

I went to bed a little early-ish, but read and didn't really go to sleep until the usual time.
