Badass Birthday
On this date, in 1899 in Australia, P.L.Travers was born.
She was published as a teenager, and then had a short career as a professional Shakespeare actress. She emigrated to England and resumed her writing career. She wrote over 20 books. During World War II she was stationed in New York City working for the British Ministry of Information.
None of these things makes her a badass. What DOES make her a badass though, is the fact that she is the author who created Mary Poppins. She wrote 8 books about the character. And she was courted intensebly by Walt Disney to allow him to obtain the rights to do a movie. She refused over and over and over, but she did eventaully relent.
P.L.Travers, creator of Mary Poppins, surely that warrants being a badass!
