Tip toe through the tulips.....
Last year, in early summer, mom came by my place and said she had planted tulips in her yard and some left over and she wondered if I wanted them in my front garden. I said sure, so we planted them back along the back wall. She said they were spring time flowers, and they'd come up each year. As long as the damn squirrels didn't dig them up and eat them. And I'd not have to water them or anything, they'd just come up on their own.
Hey, that's the kind of flowers I want: the kind where I have to do nothing and they still bloom.
Anyway, today, I took a photo of the tulips:

In the family picture, but I see you...
Thursday is my grandmother's 90th birthday. But we had a surprise party for her today. Over at the home she's living at. There were 21 of us there: all four of her kids, their surviving spouses, 6 of her 7 grandchildren, and some of their spouses and 5 of her 6 great grandchildren.
WE just had cake and ice cream. Afterwards, while the grownups sat around and talked, the kids were getting bored, rolling around on the floor and all. I didn't want them bothering the staff or other residents, so i took them for a walk. Just around the block, about a mile total. But they ran ahead of me, and I did little but yell at them to wait, not to cross streets, and to stop yelling. But with a 13 year old, 10 year old, 9 year old and 8 year old, that was pretty useless. I was hoping to wear them out a bit and calm them down...but in reality, they wore me out. Course, when we did get back, they were somewhat more subdued. So I guess in the end, it was worth it. And yeah, it was fun too.
Anyway, at one point, all the great grandkids, and I were crammed onto the sofa, and I took a selfie (or as the 10 year old informed me "If it's a group of people, it's called a groupie!").
Its not real good, cause there was a window behind us, and I think my camera lens in my phone is pretty dusty. But that's it!
Left to right we have 10 yr old Tereek, 8 yr old Javion, old fart Polt, 7 yr old Cam, 12 yr old Lexi in back and the eyeball and head is 10 month old Lil Chris.
Fun kids. (Im sure some family members said ALL the kids were in the photo...including me.)

Gotta say, I agree with the majority on this one. I like songs that don't even have words in them. And a lot of times, I don't even know the words that are there in a song I like. It's be beat, the thing that makes me nod my head and tap my feet, that's the most important part to me. Words, while nice, are clearly secondary to my enjoyment of them music.

Sleepless nights and endless days....
Monday night, for whatever reason, I couldn't get to sleep until after 2.am. But I still got up and got work on time. I was working on only about 5 hours sleep, but made it through the day more or less okay.
Tuesday night, I tossed and turned and maybe got two hours total. In short incriments. Like ten minutes of sleep, then rolling around and eventually getting another twenty, and then more rolling around, etc, etc, etc.
At about 530 am, I was laying in bed, staring at the ceiling and realizing, there was no way I was actually gonna get back to sleep. And even if I did, I would only get about a half hour or so of sleep before I had to get up anyway.
So I just got up and went in to work, getting there about 630. Which led to much harrassment once my regular shift of coworker arrived. I'm not usually there more than 15 minutes early, and here I was, at work already at 630. But what a day it was. I was 'off' the entire day. Just couldn't focus, was walking like a zombie. And oh I was irritable. Things that usually wouldn't bother me were just pissing me off!
But since I had gone in early, I got to leave at 230. I came home and relaxed and did nothing. I took a 20 minutes nap about 600, and that refreshed me and kept me going the rest of the night. I went to sleep about 1030 and other than getting up twice to go to the bathroom I slept the night through.
Was still tired today at work...but that was more like usual tiredness I have every day not really bad tiredness like the day before.
Don't know what brought the sleeping problems on, but I'm glad it's gone, and I hope it never comes back.
