Well, I came home from work, logged into the computer and everything seems fine still.  Again, thanks for StratCat and truthspew for their help in this, my time of crisis.  (or ONE of my times of crisises)  Now though, I've got a TON of catching up to do!

Welcome back, your dreams were your tickets out....

Okay, so I'm cautiously optimistic that everything is back to normal.  As you can see, I'm back to posting.

It's time like there, when you lose a computer, that you find out who your true friends are.

Thanks for truthspew, for all his help and patience over the phone on Saturday and all the email help on Friday.

Thanks to Michelle, who just happened to call on Thursday just when the Blue Screen Of Death first hit.  She realized how I was feeling and invited me out to eat with her and her friend Friday, thus allowing me to not only keep my mind off of things for a night, but to have an absolutely awesome time as well (which I may post about here in the next couple days).

And most of all, thanks, once again, to StratCat!  Without her, I wouldn't be back yet.  Thanks for her for spending 5 hours here tonight, getting everything back up and running, which included, reinstalling Windows, helping me download the antivirals I needed, helping me get my stuff off the back up, helping me clear some room out for all my music, and then figuring out the issue with the computer being unable to find the BOOTMGR......and of course, helping me keep sane, patient, and putting with my panic during the whole ordeal.  I dont think my bribe of a meal at Montezuma's, some Asti, and three episodes of Season 2 of The Walking Dead was enough for all she did and put up with, but I can't give her much more than my sincere and deepest thinks.

Now, hopefully tomorrow night, I'll be posting some more (assuming there's not more problems when I try to get on the computer tomorrow [though there shouldn't be {although there easily could be}]).  If not, well, then you know something else bad happened.

But for now, for right not, it's nice to be back.

Here we go again....

So, kids, yesterday, I'm sitting at home, got some things up on Google Chrome and I'm in my iTunes moving some music around when all of a sudden, I get.....

THE BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!

And the laptop reboots.  It lets me enter in my password and continues the startup process, but before it gets to the desktop, it reboots.  Then I get the message Windows didn't shut down properly, etc, etc, etc.  And I let it restart normally.  Put my password in, and the same thing happens ago.  So I turn the machine off.

A little bit later I start it up again, and the whole process starts all over.  So I do manage to get it into Safe Mode, but that's about it.  And I don't really know what to do once I'm there.  So I just shut the whole damn thing down.

So, until I get this taken care of, posts to the Palace are gonna be few and far between.  I still have my iPhone, and I've got my computer at work, so I'm still connected, but this stuff sucks.  Especially since I just went through computer issues in April.  I don't know if this is a virus or a hardward issue, but the Blue Screen Of Death makes me think it's the latter (not that I really know, I'm just guessing).  I still have everything saved from back in April, but what I DON'T have are a few pictures, and my iTunes.  And I really don't want to spend another three weeks putting 7,000 and some songs back onto a computer via CDs.  *SIGH*

I want to see if I can save stuff from Safe Mode, and if I can, I think I'd be happy to just reinstall Windows and then load up the all the stuff I've saved, from April and now.  If I can.  But we'll see how long it takes me to get all that done.

I checked with StratCat and she said the Blue Screen Of Death may be beyond her abilities.  But she'd help me reinstall Windows and stuff again, bless her lil heart.  So we'll see.  I might just try to save stuff and then buy a new computer, although I've only had this one less than three years, and I don't have $500 just laying around to spend on a new one.  So who knows.

Anyway, if anyone's had any experience with the Blue Screen Of Death before and can offer any suggestions I'd appreicate it.  Otherwise, I'll be back once everything's back in running order.

If you're on my list, it's just a question of time (Part 9)...

10 QUESTIONS

This week, we've got the bunnyman, john!

Hi, I'm john.  Normally I'm the one asking the questions, but this is the Palace and it is Polt's prerogative to ask questions.  Contrary to popular opinion, I am not a small mammal; mammal, for use, but small, not so much.  I like asking questions, music of all kinds, working with paper as an art form and bunnies!  I dislike getting out of bed and have an irrational hatred of nickels, coat hangers and the music of Billy Joel.

john

1. What was your first pet and it's name and what was your most recent pet and it's name?
First, Duke, Boxer-Great Dane mix.  Last: Daisy, my white bunny.
2. Who gave you your last hickey, when and where on your body was it?
My ex-wife.  And where else are you supposed to wear a love bite?  On your neck, Loretta.
3. What color looks best on you?
Probably blue, I get lots of compliments when I wear my aqua shirt.  Apparently it looks good with the gray hair.  I also pull off orange pretty well.
4. How many newspapers do you read?
Zero actual papers, but read a few news sites online.
5. Coffee, tea, or no thank you?
No thank you.  Still can't figure out how something can smell so good and taste so bad.
6. How often do you shave your face/legs?
I shave my face every other day (M-W-F) and go caveman on the weekend.
7. What is your favorite color?
Orange baby.
8. In what religion were you raised and what religion, if any, do you believe in now?
I was raised Catholic and went to Catholic school for primary and secondary school.  I don't believer or support the organization of religion, any religion, or what has been done in the name of them, but I do identify with some of the beliefs of many religions (God is love is not a bad concept) but I don't think any of them have it right.
9. Can you poop in a public restroom or are you poop-shy?
Do I have the ability?  Yes.  Do I like to? No.  Some things should be done in the privacy of one's home.
10. When were you the most afraid ever, in your life?
One of my brothers has a pituitary gland that doesn't work.  It is a manageable condition, but it can cause problems.  One problem is a simple virus can be a major problem.  About six months ago, he got a stomach bug.  He called me with what started as some discomfort but twenty minutes later turned into serious issues and it only got worse.   A call to 911 and an hour later in the hospital, I thought he was going to die.  It is an experience I hope to never relive.

Well, now we all know the man behind the bunny!

And remember, if you want to play along and have not let me know yet, just tell me.  I'll add you to the list.

Right now, are you ready right now...

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOOOOTBAAAAAALLLLL??????

Tonight, not only does the 2012 NFL season officially start, but it also is Dallas' first game of the season, versus the Giants.  AND A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking and I are again this year picking the games each week and betting on those we differ on.

I picked Dallas to win (as did ALCMDPP), but I'm not sure if they're gonna win.  The Giants are tough, but it would be a great way to start the season if they did win.

At any rate, how about a smidge of Cowboys eye candy (and VPL).

So, I had a busy Monday.

First I got up earlier than usual for a Monday (about 8AM), because I had to get Jayson to the local airport to catch his plane back to Colorado.  And I got him there in plenty of time.  He was quite surprised at the tiny size of the Hagerstown airport, and it IS tiny.  As I told him, the food section of our local Wal-Mart is bigger than the airport...and that's true.

Naturally, since the airport is so tiny, so are the airplanes.  Jayson kinda freaked out a bit when he found out he'd be flying to Baltimore in a Cessna twin engine...a nine-seater plane."Suburbans have 9 seats...I'm gonna be on a Suburban in the air!"  And even though I assured him repeatedly he'd be okay, frankly, if it were me, I don't think I'd want to get on that small of a plane either.  In one that size, if I sneezed, I'd be afraid of knocking it off course. But get on it he did, and he made it to Colorado safe and sound and on time.

After watching the plane take off, I drove to the home of A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking.  While in the airport, he had called me and asked me if I wanted to eat at Friscos, and of COURSE, I always want to eat there.  So after getting to his place, saying hi and getting goodbye hugs from his girls, and seeing the new room they made for the one girl, off we went.

We had to stop by the school he works at for a short bit, and he gave me a tour.  The school is only three years old, and it is IMPRESSIVE!  Frequently, it reminded me of a college campus, not a high school.  It's amazing.  And after this we went to Friscos and had an great, as always, meal.  And then we went to Barnes & Noble, which again, is always a great experience, although much to my surprise, I didn't end up buying anything!

Following this, I came home, and hung out here for a bit.  And then, went to mom's.  We went to Fudrucker's in Chambersburg, for the delish hamburgers!  And after I dropped her off I came back home and pretty much vegetated on the couch.  I went to bed a bit earlier than usual (930) and read before drifting off to sleep.

So I got up earlier than usual, went to bed earlier than usual, traveled 45 minutes to the south of my home and then 45 minutes to the north of my home, both times to eat.  A busy day, I would say.
