Still at it, till death do us part (Part 17)...

Dead Or Alive?

Since this is still the political season, this time, I give you....

Bob Dole

Mr. Dole was born in 1923.  He represented Kansas in the US Senate from 1969-1996.  He was Senate Majority Leader a few times, was Gerald Ford's running mate in 1976, and was the 1996 Republican presidential nominee.  He was also in Viagra commericals.

So tell me, Bob Dole, is he....Dead Or Alive?

The final doors, well I, I debate the taste....

My take on the VP debate:

Both did what they needed to do.  Ryan held his own and didn't make any gaffes, although he was clearly over his head in some of the foreign policy questions.  But that's to be expected, since he's just a Congressman, and Biden has been a VP for four years, and a foreign policy wonk in the Senate for more then 30 years before that.

Biden was the person Obama SHOULD have been last week.  It's about time someone called Romney/Ryan on their distortions...er, exaggerations...no I mean their lies.  And really, having Biden call it all malarky and "a bunch of...stuff"...brillant.

Biden clearly won the debate.  He won on substance.  And you can tell this because the Republican spin after the debate wasn't all the good points Ryan made, but on the "rudeness" of Biden.  Pffft, please.  If indeed Biden was rude, by talking over and interrupting Ryan, clearly he learned how to do it by watching Romney's actions with Obama and Lehrer in the first debate.  And you didn't hear the Republicans crying and whining about that did you.  If you can dish it out, Fox Noise, you gotta be able to take it too.

Anyway, in the end, none of it will matter all that much.  Biden may have energized Democrats and stopped the bleeding in the polls, but no one ever votes for a Vice-President.  They vote for President.

Nonetheless, I just hope Obama watched Biden's performance, and learns from it.

Oh, and Martha Radditz KICKS ass!  Yeah there was too much time spent on too many foreign policy questions, but that's her expertise.  Nonetheless, she was in charge all the time.  She cut them off when needed, didn't let them run roughshod over her, and asked pointed followup questions.  Good for her.  All other moderators should take note what she did.

I go out walking, after midnight....

One thing, I did but forgot to post was this map I made of the walking Paul, Travis and I did in DC.

If anyone out there knows DC, then you can see just how far we freaking walked.

POLT

I'm walking dead now, only you remain....

So tonight, I finished The Walking Dead, Compendium Volume 1.

Man, was it something.  It collects the comic book issues 1-48, and with each issue coming in at like 30 or so pages, that's over 1400 pages I read.  In just a week.  That's how engrossing the whole thing was.

I've watched the first two seasons on DVD.  The show diverged from the comic books in several ways, important ways.  but both stand on their own as being pretty damn interesting.

The book, even moreso than the TV show, was at times pretty depressing.  I found myself, once or twice, not really wanting to pick it back up...but having too, cause I was so wrapped up in it.  And it's graphic in several parts, with things going on that I'm pretty sure will never be shown on TV, not even cable.

But as I finished it up, there were parts, things happening where I literally gasped out loud!  I can think of three right now off the to of my head.  I'm not going to mention them, cause they could be potential spoilers of the TV show, and I don't want to ruin anyone's enjoyment of that.

But seriously, if you're into the Walking Dead TV show, you really should read the comic book it was based on.  I simply can't recommend it enough.

10 Questions

This week, kids, we've got another celebrity!  And let me remind you all that I do NOT choose the photos or write the blurbs, they are done by the answerers....so that may explain a bit below....

A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking

From a town known as Wheeling, West Virginia rode a boy with a six-gun in his hand.  And his daring life of crime made him a legend in his time.  East and West of the Rio Grande.  Now, how's that for a blurb?  I'm excited to get a word in edge wise on The Palace.  Even though Polt did offer me up a weekly posting once but my general lack of follow through brought that to a crashing halt...so for now we're going to have to go with this....

1. What's the highest level math class you've taken?
Some stat/research course I had to take when I got my masters.  It sucked...badly.
2. How many newspapers do you read?
No actual papers, but I read the Herald Mail (Hagerstown, MD), Gazette (Frederick, MD) and Frederick News Post online.  The latter has more spelling and grammatical mistakes than this posting.
3. What was the last thing you painted?
My eldest daughter's bedroom.
4. When you were growing up, what was the first thing you wanted to be as an adult?
A marine biologist.  Don't ask me why.
5. The Beatles or The Stone?
Since my two choices are a bunch of pot smoking hippies, I will go with a third and 4th option: Melissa Etheridge and Tori Amos.
6. What type of abode do you live in now & do you own it, rent, sublet, etc?
A very very very fine house, with two cats out in the yard.
7. What is your usual salad dressing?
Ranch.
8. How many cities have you lived in & how many states?
Annapolis, MD; Shepardstown, WV; Martinsburg WV, Hagerstown MD
9. Have you/would you ever wear a Speedo/bikini?
I don't think the world is ready for such a thing.
10. If you could live the life an anyone now dead, without changing anything, who would it be?
Marty McFly.  Because I could drive a time traveling DeLorean and be a total badass in 1955, 1985, 2015 and 1885.

So, ALCMDPP is known better to all his fans!  And remember, if any of you want to play along, and have not let me know yet, please do so!

Saturday night, Kris came over after work.  We got a few things at Wal-Mart (yeah, I'm a romantic date, I know!), then came back here and watched Saturday Night Live.  I thought it was pretty funny actually.  What I saw of it.  About 1230, we decided to just go to bed.

There we cuddled and talked for a bit.  But as we were both tired, a bit before 130, Kris suggested that we go to sleep, and I wasn't to worry because, "Tomorrow morning, I'm gonna sex you up real good."  Well now.  So to sleep we went.  And the next morning, yes, he did indeed sex me.  Real good.

But honestly, the best part of the night was sleeping with him. Actually sleeping with him.  I feel very comfortable next to him, even though we haven't slept together since he left in January.  No, that's not right, we slept together in May when I went to Richmond to visit him.  But that was in a hotel bed, and didn't feel the same.  Even after months away from him, I still feel very comfortable laying next to him.  It's quite comforting and comfortable.  And I'm glad he's back.  I missed him.
