My take on the VP debate:
Both did what they needed to do. Ryan held his own and didn't make any gaffes, although he was clearly over his head in some of the foreign policy questions. But that's to be expected, since he's just a Congressman, and Biden has been a VP for four years, and a foreign policy wonk in the Senate for more then 30 years before that.
Biden was the person Obama SHOULD have been last week. It's about time someone called Romney/Ryan on their distortions...er, exaggerations...no I mean their lies. And really, having Biden call it all malarky and "a bunch of...stuff"...brillant.
Biden clearly won the debate. He won on substance. And you can tell this because the Republican spin after the debate wasn't all the good points Ryan made, but on the "rudeness" of Biden. Pffft, please. If indeed Biden was rude, by talking over and interrupting Ryan, clearly he learned how to do it by watching Romney's actions with Obama and Lehrer in the first debate. And you didn't hear the Republicans crying and whining about that did you. If you can dish it out, Fox Noise, you gotta be able to take it too.
Anyway, in the end, none of it will matter all that much. Biden may have energized Democrats and stopped the bleeding in the polls, but no one ever votes for a Vice-President. They vote for President.
Nonetheless, I just hope Obama watched Biden's performance, and learns from it.
Oh, and Martha Radditz KICKS ass! Yeah there was too much time spent on too many foreign policy questions, but that's her expertise. Nonetheless, she was in charge all the time. She cut them off when needed, didn't let them run roughshod over her, and asked pointed followup questions. Good for her. All other moderators should take note what she did.
