ps,
If you're gonna BE at the family Christmas on the 18th, or know someone that is, please don't view this or show it to someone who's going to be there. Mama Polt wants all this to be a surprise.
Year End List
A few days after this, my laptop killed itself. Actually, I think it had help from some nasty virus, but it was gone, i couldn't get it out of Safe Mode. And without a computer, I felt like I had lost an appendage! o I bought a new computer at Best Buy, a Toshiba, which I ended up not liking much at all. So I ordered a Dell, and returned the Toshiba. I got all the money refunded except for $50 for some fee, which was fine really. Corey spent several hours working on my dead one and no luck cleaning the virus off. So he wiped it clean and reinstalled all the basic stuff. So that's sitting here as my backup when (not if, but WHEN) this computer catches a virus and dies (it's happened to nearly every computer I've ever owned).
I've worn glasses since about the age of 10. This year when I went to my yearly exam, the doctor told me it was time, time for the dreaded bifocals. *SIGH* So I got them. And I got them with the invisible line thingee so no one can tell I'm wearing bifocals. It sucks getting old.
In February, between the two blizzards, Miss Cleo, my car of 6 years, threw a rod in her engine and died. It would cost more to fix it than I was willing to put into her. So once I dug out of the snow, I bought a new (to me) car: Sebastian. Miss Cleo was a great car, and I hope Sebastian treats me as well. I didn't really need the added debt, but I DID need a car, so whatcha gonna do?
Also in February (SEE what I mean?), a part of one of my teeth broke off. I didn't get it taken of right away cause I hated my old dentist. But then more and more of it broke off. And eventually, over the summer, I made an appointment with the dentist literally across the street from my house. And I LOVE him! He's SO much better than the old. I raved about him so much, mom actually moved from the old dentist to the new one. But that wasn't the end of the story. The tooth had to come out. And I went through some of the worst stress of my life over that! I mean, seriously, I couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, and was filled with nearly continuous stress and worry. And then, in the end of October, I finally made it in and he pulled it...in less than a minute I'd wager, and with absolutly no pain or problems! I was amazed! But for the 9 months that I had issues with the tooth, there was a high amount of stress involved!
Whether it was actually cause by a spider bite first, I don't know, but I had a pretty bad MRSA infection in my left forearm over the summer! When the nurse squeezed it to get the gunk out, that was perhaps THE worst pain I have ever felt in my life. My arm swelled up to twice it's normal size, I got celulitis in my elbow, I couldn't straighten my arm out I had to keep it bent, and I got on open oozing sore larger than my thumbnail . Thanks to two shots of strong anti-biotic in my ass and a fews weeks worth of anti-biotic pills, I recovered, although I do still have purplish scar a bit smaller than a dime on my arm where the sore was. It was pretty horrific, and even scary at some points. And I hope I NEVER get anything like it again.
He would have been higher on the list, but we only were together for two months. But what two months they were. He's fun. He's funny. He's sexy. He's great in bed. He's just a great guy. And we had a great time together. I have a wide circle of friends for friendship, and several fuckbuddies for sex, but I don't have someone there for the little things. How great it was to cuddle with someone after sex. How great it was to have someone beside you that you could just kiss anytime. How great it was to roll over in bed and feel someone next to you in the middle of the night. How great it was simply to have someone to hold hands with. And how greater is was that he was such an incrdible guy to do all this stuff with. Plus with it being so short, it was sad, but that meant it ended on a high note, before it got old or we got sick of each other. As they say, the brightest flames also burn out the quickest. And together, man did we generate some heat!
How awesome was this weekend event? I got to travel to NYC on the train for only the second time. I got to hang out in Long Island for a weekend. I got to meet Craigger's parents and sister. I got to re-meet Tam, VUBOQ, Craig, FDot, Joshrico, David, Chris D., and Jere. And I got to meet for the first time all the other Puntabupeeps: Adam, Mikey, Paul, Justin, Nathan, and of COURSE the too-awesome-for-words, Michelle M., and he equally amazing husband Harry! What fun we had Friday night eating that HUGE plate of pasta and then hanging in Michelle M.'s hotel room. What an incredibly time the next day at the pool party itself! What fun, and scenery, at the the beach the next day. And then that night, a smaller get together back at the pool that more intimate and just as fun! All in all, just an outstanding weekend, with great times and greater people!
I've had to suffer through her for over 14 years. It was always bad, but got worse as all her friends in high places left and she could no longer run to them to get her way.. She was sneaky, conniving, back-stabbing, stubborn, self-centered, tantrum-throwing, self-important and self-righteous. Everything HAD to be her way, there WAS no other way. Compromise was not a word in her vocabulary. And finally, FINALLY, she retired, just two weeks ago or so. it's been rather hectic, busy and a bit crazy in our department with two of us having to do the work of three. But it's been a lot more relaxed, fun, and enjoyable. There's an air of relief and cooperation, instead of one of stress and confrontation. This is one is the #1 thing of the year not because of the effect it will have on this year, but based on the effect it will have on the rest of my career, my life, and my future. And it is without a doubt THE best thing to happen all year!
I hope your 2010 had more ups than downs, and I hope 2011 is even better!

Today is Canada Day up in the Great White North, and I got no idea what it is, probably just a day for Canadians to go out and eat poutine and beaver tails and drink maple syrup while riding a moose or something.

So yeah, I'm home after a wonderful weekend in Puntabuland.

Who are the geniuses who decided to put the keypad on a telephone unpside down from a keypad on an adding machine or calculator?
What's it say about my year? Probably nothing. But there you have it anyway.

I see your face appearing like an unexpected song...
And then I turned the page and the there was AJ's face staring out at me. His was in the upper corner and it was stating he was missed by his mom, family and friends. As I flipped the previous page, it was literally the first thing I saw.
And it was like a gut punch.
I'm pretty sure I gasped when I saw it, it was so unexpected. I had trouble getting a breath for a moment or two. And as I looked at his photo, I got teary. I'd though about AJ periodically since his suicide in Feb 2009, especially on his birthday and....deathday. But to actually see his face there staring back at me...well, it was overwhelming. I took a few moments to get myself under control and was fine.
And I came to realize right then just how much I missed the little guy. We both often called him my Lil Brother. I think of how excited he would have been of my house. And how excited that there was a spare bed for him to sleep on instead of the couch.
I miss him still. And I miss the fun we had together. And all the fun we could have had, but now won't. And I'm amazed at how just one photo could bring all this back to quickly and completely.
I thought of posting about this then, but Friday was Christmas Eve, and why make that holiday such a downer for anyone who read this? So I'm putting it up now.
Rest in Peace AJ.
I love you still, Lil Bro. Always.

Out and running about barking...
So anyway, as she telling me this, she's talking very quietly, like just above a whisper. And I can hear this noise in the background, which I quickly identify. She said she had to set the photo on the floor and then went about cleaning.
Angel had been laying on the chair watching her. But almost as soon as the photo was on the floor, Angel started growling. Then she jumped off the chair and growled louder and then barked. She walked towards the photo growling, but when she barked, she jumped back and barked at it some more. And when mom was talking to me, I could still hear Angle growling and barking in the background!
Oh my God, it was hilarious! And mom says, between her laughs, "I don't know if she's barking at you or at herself." Well i HOPE she's barking at herself, cause she should be used to seeing me, but would have no concept of herself.
Still, all in all, it was pretty darn funny!

You gotta turn the page read the book...
1999 - 22 books read
2000 - 22 books read
2001 - 28 books read
2002 - 33 books read
2003 - 24 books read
2004 - 26 books read
2005 - 15 books read
2006 - 20 books read
2007 - 23 books read
2008 - 27 books read
2009 - 33 books read
2010 - 42 books read
And it turns out that that amount means I've read an average of 1 book every 8 days! That fact impressed even me. The breakdown f book subject are as follows:
Alternative Universes - 1
Comics - 2
Dragonlance - 1
Dr. Who - 3
Gay - 8
General Fiction - 3
History - 3
"Leandros Brothers" series - 3
Nightrunner Series - 2
Percy Jackson series - 3
Presidential books - 6
Star Trek - 2
Torchwood - 5
Naturally gay themed books are the first, followed by Presidential books and Torchwood (which series I have no completed, therefore, there's no more of those books in the new future :( )books. Everything else is rather evenly divided.
My goal for next year is to read more than 42 books...averaging one book every 7 days this time!

Day after all, i will always be true...
I got up at 8:00 and got to work by 9:00. I was only in there to clear out the clients that had arrived since Friday night, and there were only 4. So I was out of there before 10:30. My coworkers had complained about the crappy food in the cafeteria today and kept trying to get me to get a few of them something from Arbys. I refused. But on the way out, I decided to have pizzas delivered. I tried Domino's, but they didn't open until noon, which probably woulda been too late. So after visiting Targer for next year's Christmas cards (half off) and wrapping paper (half off) and surviving the death of a little part of my soul since Target made anti-gay contributions in the last election, I went to Kohls and got a couple other things. Then I went to Papa John's, and yet another part of my soul died due to thier anti-gay policies, and I ordered 4 pizzas to be delivered to my work. After this, I went to Borders to buy a friend something, which I ended up getting, but I also got myself 4 other things. *SIGH* another waste of money. Been doing that oo much lately. I stopped by mom's for lunch of leftover Christmas dinner. I came home and waited for A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking to arrive. We watched some football, then in the afternoon, went to Wal-Mart and then to Applebee's for an early supper. I came home to watch some more football. And then I entertained a gentlemen caller. I had planned to watch Sunday Night Football, but due to a blizzard, it was postponed. SO now I sit here watching a two hour documentary on the history of Superman. How can I go wrong with that? Also, I was surprised at how UNcrazy the stores, parking lots, and traffic was today. Thank God. I hate crazy crowds, parking lots and traffic. And so, off to bed soon and then onto a whole new day tomorrow!

My Christmas...
I woke up around 8:00 and couldn't go back to sleep so I just stayed up. Putzed around online. Wrapped the remaining gifts I got for mom I just found last night. Showered. Drove to mom's. Gave Angel her gifts, opened mine. Had mom open hers. Drove to get grandma and bring her to mom's. We ate. We talked. I came home and putzed around on the computer again. A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking called to say he was coming over to watch the Dallas Cowboys game. Corey called and said he'd be in town and wanted to stop by for a short bit. ALCMDPP arrived. Corey arrived. We talked. Corey left and ALCMDPP and I went to get the Chinese food we ordered. Returned and ate the food. Watched the Dallas game. ALCMDPP left. Watched the Dr. Who Christmas special, flipping back to the Dallas game at the commericals. And now I'm watching just the Dallas game, hoping they can pull it out after the mistakes they made early. And then off to bed.
To eat today I've had turkey, mashed potatos, sweet potatos, corn, stuffing, mom's homemade fruit salad. Then later, General Cho's chicken and rice. Also, some of Mama Polt's homemade Christmas cookies and peanut brittle.
All in all, a fun, relaxing, delicious day.

Get up you scamps, get up you...
Mom and I both had a fun times playing with the boys. At ages 6 and 4 they're such fun. Mom played tic-tac-toe with them, I sat on the sofa and they cuddled up next to me and watched some Mickey Mouse Christmas. Javion, the younger one, kept asking where Santa was in the cartoon and pointing out the reindeer to me. Tereek, the older one, kept asking me questions, from when Santa was coming, to what I wanted for Christmas, to why I had hair around my mouth but not a beard. I love kids that age, they're such fun.
I got some photos:
Tereek sitting and watching the cartoon.
Tereek them wanted to take a photo of me and so he did. I'm wearing the silly cap because I walked to my aunt's house. Even though it was a less than ten minute walk to her house, if was freakin' cold, so I bundled up. And then I just kept the cap on the whole time.
Javion and mom playing tic-tac-toe. Not sure who won the most games.
And Tereek just fooling around with his slice of pizza.
They're quite a pair of little scamps, but so, so much fun!
