I wanna get snowed in with you, i wanna shake off these winter blues...

So we're getting hit with another snowstorm that gonna brings upwards of a foot or more of snow. *YAWN* This is the third time this winter, the second time in a week...is this all you got Mother Nature? Puh-lease, you don't scare me.

This is what Snowpocalypse, Part Drei looked like from my front door:

I think we only have about a foot of snow, but the winds are gusting, the TV says, upwards of 30 mph hour, so I don't know how much of what you see is snow falling and snow blowing.

After being inside as much as I have, I got a tad bit cabin feverish and I decided to go out in it. But just half a block north to the Rutters convience store. I was craving a salad (no, I don't know why either) and thought I'd go there to get one. Once I got there, they didn't have any salads, but they weren't out of anything else. So I got two hot dogs, a soft pretzel, a local paper and the Washington Post. But on the trek, I also took the following photos:

Icicle deathtrap on my back porch.

Icicle deathtrap on my front porch.

The wind is doing crazy things. On my front porch here we have a roughly two foot high snow drift and not two feet away, bare porch.

My front steps are more accurately my front slope now.

An interesction, everything still snow covered and snow coming down. And don't let the traffic full you. There are more vehicles in this one photo than I saw on my entire trek otherwise.

This is 3rd Street Hill, a major road in town, still snow covered. It IS pretty on the trees and such though.

Upon returning, this is snow mid way up my calf, halfway to my knee. And now, I'm inside until it stops snowing. Only then shall I attempt to shovel any of it.

And just to give you some perspective on what we've got since last Friday, below is a photo of my backyard, with Miss Cleo parked there, just as the snow was beginning:

And this is my bakyard, with the new car parked in it, on Wednesday afternoon and in the midst of the second snowstorm (you can use the two poles as reference points) :

I got NO idea where we're gonna PUT all this. We'll have snow lingering around until July!

TMI Tuesdays
These come each week from http://tmituesday.blogspot.com/

1. LUST: Besides your current Significant Other who do you lust for or have you lusted for?Oh, more guys than I could ever mention here...seriously.
2. GLUTTONY: What food brings out your inner glutton? Swedish Fish! I can eat those until I get sick to my stomach, and once I even threw up.
3. GREED: What are you greedy for? Sex. That's kind of a LUST answer, I suppose.
4. SLOTH: What is your plan for an ideal day of sloth? Get outta bed around 9 or 10; piddle around on line until about lunch; shower; get something to eat; watch football at 1, 4, and 8 eating pizza and slurping down Pepsi all day before going to bed. Ah, I love Sundays.
5. WRATH: Describe a time that you let out a can of whoop ass on someone. I've never physically assaulted anyone, never been in a fight. But I have, more times than I can count, verbally unleashed a can of whoop ass on someone. And they always deserved it.
6. ENVY: Who or what do you envy? Why? The filthy rich, because they don't have to work and spend their days engulfed in LUST, GLUTTONY or SLOTH.
7. PRIDE: Have you ever had to swallow your pride? What are you proud of? I'm proud of the fact that, I think, most people like me, that I can get along with and have fun with nearly anyone. And I've swallowed many things in my life, and only rarely has it had to have been my pride.

Just wanna see, baby, well that new car run...

So, today was the day to go buy the new car.

Over the weekend, I had decided on the 2008 Nissan Versa. It's got about 22000 miles on it, has a 7 yr/100,000 warranty on power train, and they were asking $10,888 for it. This morning, once I got up and ready, I met mom and we headed to Chambersburg, her following me, to trade in Miss Cleo.

Miss Cleo was a good car. She was 9 years old, I had had her for 7 years, and this was the first 'real' problem I ever had with here. Yeah, there was the battery issue in the fall of 2008, and the time the driver's seat broke and laid flat onto the back seat and I had to try to drive it home from work holding myself up by gripping the steerin wheel (NOT an easy prospect, I assure you). But other than that, no real issues with her.

And she made probably a half dozen, maybe more, trips to Toronto, countless trips to DC, a few trips to Baltimore, one or two to the Harrisburg area, once to Columbus Ohio and she was driven all OVER the four state area around here.

But, it was her time. I was worried about getting her out of the still snow covered alleyway, but like a trooper, she made it without problem. However, on the way to Chambersburg, as we went up hills, I noticed she was straining and not accelerating as much as she should. It's only about a 25 mile trip from my house to the dealership. I kept talking to her all the way there, telling what a good girl she's been, how I couldn't have ever asked for a better car, could she please keep running just until I pulled into the parking lot up there?

But we were on the outskirts of Chambersburg, the town clearly in view, when we stopped at an intersection with lights and...she shut down. She refused to start. I guess that was all she had. Five more miles and we'd have been at the dealership. She gave it her best shot, but just couldn't make it all the way, God rest her soul.

Luckily, it was on a hill going down, so I just drifted down it in neutral and turned the corner into the lesser used street and pulled over. Because of the snow, I couldn't actually get off the road, but at this intersection, the road had a turning lane as well as a regular lane going the other way, so that left plenty of room. Mom pulled in behind me and I called AAA. The lady took all my info and said because of a large demand, she couldn't give me an ETA. Mom had brought today's paper with her, so we settled in for long wait.

I didn't even get the front page read, less than 10 minutes passed, and the rollback pulled up! And before you knew it, we were in the parking lot of the dealership. The whole ride, including the breakdown, took less than an hour. Normally, it woulda taken us probably 35-40 minutes anyway, so that wasn't bad.

I laughed with the salesman, saying "I bet you never had anybody bring their trade-in in on a rollback, eh?" He told me in 7 years there's very little he hadn't seen. Ends up the gave me $100 on the tradein. And I didn't haggle with them cause, well it came in on a freakin' rollback! But even if I had driven it in, as soon as they started it up, they would have heard the noise I found the problem. I doubt I woulda gotten anymore than $200 for it that way anyway.

At any rate, after a lot of paperwork, I got the keys and drove off the lot at about noon-ish. So from leaving home in Miss Cleo, to leaving the lot with the new car took a total of 2.5 hours! Love it.

And this is the new car below:

It's official color is gold, although it was also tagged up there as beige, and my aunt, when she saw it, said it looked greensih-silver in certain light, which it kinda does. But since the official color is gold, that's what I'm going with.

I haven't named the new car yet. I've thought of a few names, but I'm not sure which one to choose. Miss Cleo was clearly feminine and regal, hence her name. But I feel like this car is more...masculine. Well, more masculine than Miss Cleo was, so I'm picking a guy name (sorta) for it.

I have a preference in mind, but what I thought I'd do is put up a poll here and see what the most popular choice is of the names I have in mind. Let me know what you prefer, maybe that'll be the name. Althought I reserve the right to totally ignore what you guys choose if I become really attached to one of them.

Think I'll buy me a football team...

I will be watching the Super Bowl with A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking (for the first time ever) in my own house (for the first time ever), and for the first time in a long time I won't really be upset with whoever wins, although I'm rooting for New Orleans. I just hope I'm entertained by the game.

I feel really certain, though, that I'd be much more entertained were I to watch a football game with these guys.

Of course I could be as equally entertained were I to watch these guys play any sport. Or none really. Reading the New York City phone book, even that would be quite entertaining.

At any rate, ALCMDPP is here, we're awaiting the pizza and wings and the start of the big game!

Middle of this blizzard, you stood and melted all the ice...

I've survived the Snowpocalypse, Part Deux. I'm a bit achey in the back, shoulders, arms and legs due to roughly two hours of shoveling. Yeah, there was THAT much snow! But with my supply of TP, Pepsi and porn, I managed to survive the worst of it without much trouble.

And of course I have photos:

Friday, 1:45 pm

And so it begins. Miss Cleo, God rest her nearly dead soul, sits ready. It's been snowing for almost three hours and there's not yetmuch coverage. That will change.

Friday, 3:00pm

I took the rest of the photos from my front door. The alley has a bit of snow on it, main road still just wet.

Friday, 4:30pm

Not much change. A vehicle did make it up the alley as evidenced by the tracks. Still just mainly wet on main road.

Friday, 6:00pm

Another hour and a half has passed, everything now lightly covered in snow.

Friday, 7:00pm

More accumulation, but not much. The time of the heaviest, quickest snowfalls was yet to come.

Friday, 8:30pm

Everything is covered with snow, only tracks remain on the main road.

Friday, 10:00pm

Over an inch in the alley and on the sidewalks. Main road totally covered in snow.

Friday, 11:00pm

Still accumulating. Wind had picked up by now and was pretty fierce, it's blown snow onto my porch.

Friday, 11:30pm

About two-three inches, even on the main road. I headed off to bed.

Saturday, 8:30am

Well over a foot. Check out the neighbor's wall on the other side of the alley. It's nearly entirely covered with snow.

Saturday, 11:00am

More snow, as seen against neighbor's wall. Also, snow has totally covered my front porch, which is rather large and is totally roof covered. Wind blew it back and covered everything. the steps going down were just one big solid snow dune.

Saturday, 12:30pm

Some brave souls have trapsed up the alley, God only knows to where. Snow has slowed down considerably by this time. Snow is three bricks high on my front porch.

Saturday, 1:00pm

Neighbor up the street used his snowblower to clear out the sidewalks on the entire block, going so far as to clear a path across the alley as well. Also cleared out around his truck that was parked directly in front of my house. God bless him.

Also, this is a better shot of the still snow clogged alley. In addition, it shows the depth of the snow on the far side of where he snow blew it. It was up to my knees, I'm guess 15 - 20 inches.

Saturday, 2;30pm

Previously, I went out and shoveled off my front porch and down the stairs. As the alley was still impassable, I didn't bother to go out back and try to get to Miss Cleo.

Saturday, 4:00pm

While out back helping the neighbors shovel out and clearing a space around Miss Cleo, a friend of theirs came by with a small snow blower. He blew the snow up against my house and back onto the porch somewhat, not that I cared. And then, some random guy in a Bobcat came by and plowed the alley out somewhat. God bless him too. You can see where he piled all the snow in the front of the other side of the alley.

Saturday, 6:00pm

Lady across the alley was shoveling her sidewalk. A truck had come by to shovel out the parking lot across the street. By this time, I was out of the snowy clothes, showered, in jammies and drinking a cup of hot chocolate.

Saturday, 7:00pm

Not much change from thelast photo, but because of the lights, and resulting shadows, gives a better idea of the depth of the snow piles, and the remaining snow. this is when I decided to stop taking photos.

And the best part of all this? Tuesday night into Wednesday, we're supposed to get another storm with anywhere from 4-12 inches possible. Lovely.

Like you're in a big game, i'm so unhappy i could cry...

This weekend, in addition the Snowpocalypse Part Deux, there's a lil old sporting event taking place in Miami, you may have heard of it, it's called the Super Bowl.

This year, it's the Indianapolis Colts vs. the New Orleans Saints. Let's take a look at several factors and see if we can come up with a prediction as to the winner.

1) Team record:
New Orleans Saints, 13-3; Indianapolis Colts, 14-2
Advantage: Colts

2) Previous Super Bowl Appearances:
Saints: 0; Colts: 3 (2 while in Baltimore, 1 while in Indianapolis)
Advantage: Colts

3) Head Coach experience:
Saints: Sean Payton: 4 years as head coach; Colts: Jim Caldwell, rookie
Advantage: Saints

4) Head Coach attractiveness:
Saints: 47 year old white man, youngish looking

Colts: 55 year old black man, baldish

Advantage: tie

5) Quarterback hotness
Saints: Drew Brees

Couldn't find a shirtless pic, but he has nice biceps.

Colts: Peyton Manning

Nuff said.
Advantage: Colts

6) Running Backs:
Saints: Reggie Bush=Hotness

Colts: Do they even HAVE a running game?
Advantage: Saints

7) Team Logo:
Saints: Fancy Fleur-di-lis, gold and black.

Colts: Plain horseshoe, blue and white.

Advantage: Saints.

Based on these factors, the result is Saints 3, Colts 3, 1 tie. So they're essentially tied. Since, like the Super Bowl itself, we can't have this end in a tie, I'll have to find a tie breaker. And Reggie Bush's hot chocolate sexiness is just the trump I was looking for.

Therefore, my prediction, based on these factors and the tie breaker, is that the New Orleans Saints will win, 34-31.

Although, this is just who I want to win. If I was putting money on it, I'd bet on the Colts.

Oh. My. GOD!

Okay, firstly, we're preparing to get the "Blizzard of 2010" this weekend. The Virginia governor declared a state of emergency LAST night. Nearly every school in the area has already closed for tomorrow even though the first flake isn't supposed to fall until noon. And we're suppose to get 15-20 inches.

None of this would really bother me if I didn't have to work Saturday. I mean, I can always take off work, but on Saturdays I'm the ONLY one who works in my department and if I don't do it Saturday, then nothing will get done until Monday and things might get backed up. I feel guilty about all that kinda stuff. Still, if I can't get in to work, then I can't get into work, ya know.

HOWEVER, on top of all that, I took Miss Cleo to get her oil changed and inspected. And I wanted the mechanic to check into this rattling noise going on under her hood. I took mom's car to work. While I was there, I got a call from the mechanic.

He said I needed a new motor. I blew a...bearing rod? Rod bearer? hell, I don't know what kinda rod, but apparently some of mine were bad. And we could get a new motor or rebuild one, but that would cost $2700!!! Well, Miss Cleo is 9 years old, I've had her for 7. I was hoping she could hold out 2 or 3 more years, but since she can't, I'm not gonna sink that much money into her when I could use that same money on a down payment on a new car.

But believe me, on the way home, I was NOT in a good mood at all. I was, in fact, preparing for a breakdown of drama queen diva proportions. I never actually did, cause mom calmed me down before i even started, and she drove me to a local dealership where I found two cars I was interested. They're only $400 apart, are both 2008 models and have about 23,000 miles on them. I prefer one over the other, but would be happy with both.

And they place we went to Fitzgerald, has this no haggle policy, whatever price is on the sticker is the lowest they can go, so they're no haggling needed or down. AND the saleman was very VERY non-pushy. He didn't try to sell me line or schpeal, he just asked me what I was looking for, got me the keys for the test drive, answered my questions and did small talk. It was quite a relief not to have to deal with high pressure salemen throwing you a pitch! I would highly recommend visiting them if you're from the area.

At any rate, if the weather is permitting Monday, we're going back up and purchase one of them. SO I'll have a new car next week sometime. In the meantime, though, I have to take mom's car again tomorrow. possibly have it on the road during the early stages of what is being called a "paralyzing" snow storm. Lovely.

So instead, I'm gonna attempt to get up and get to work about 4:00 am so that I can leave at noon and not have to take any time. I doubt that'll happen cause God knows I have enough trouble getting to work by 8:00 normally, but we'll see. Because of that, I'm gonna have to get to bed relatively early tonight, so I'm not gonna be watching, or posting about Project Runway. ALthough I'll talk to Dave S., maybe he'll wanna write something up and I can post that tomorrow. We'll see.

At ANY rate, once i get home tomorrow, I'm hunkered down and prepared for the storm. I hit the grocery store this afternoon before the mad rush and got the basics. I have my Internet and two Netflix movies. If power goes out, I have candles, flashlights and books to read, with plenty of blankets to wrap up in. I have a cube of Pepsi. And I've already told work, I am not even TRYING to come in on Saturday, but I might try Sunday if I can make it. We'll see.

So despite a pretty stressful day, tonight is really relaxing and calm. The proverbial calm before the storm.

1. What famous people share your birthday? Any the same year as well as day? According to Wikipedia, I was born on the same day Kazuya Nakai, Japanese voice actor, Rodney Sheppard, American musician (Sugar Ray), Gregg Turkington, American comedian (as Neil Hamburger) and musician, and Anthony Nesty, Surinamese swimmer...not that I've really ever heard of any of them.
2. Have you ever shared an address (before, during or after) with anyone famous? No way. I've only ever lived in the town I grew up in, and a year and a half at college, and there's no one famous from either my town or college.
3. Who else has your name? (Google yourself and see who else shows up) Apparently there's a pretty famous high school track athlete in Orgeon with my name. Other than that, just a few businessmen, real estate agents, accounts, etc.
4. Test the Six Degrees theory. Do you know someone who might know someone who might know someone who might know someone who might know someone who knows President Obama? How about, say Dolly Parton? Well, I MIGHT, yeah sure. But do I for certain? Nah. And I think knowing Dolly is much more likely for me than for knowing Obama.
5. Try the sexual version. Have you had sex with someone who might have . . . anyone famous? (e.g. I slept with a woman who had slept with a Hollywood stuntman, who might have....) I've had sex with so many people I'm fairly certain that somewhere along the way some partner's slept with someone famous. Maybe a famous closeted legislator in Canada? Oh, I DID partner with an opera singer in Toronto once. he wasn't a big name, but when I Googled him, he was all over for appearances in operas around the world. Bit parts, no leads, mind you, but still.
