I really should go, Baby it's go oldside....
So you have heard we had a smidgeon of nasty weather here yesterday. Or maybe you're still without power and don't even know I'm writing this. Course, if that's the case, I'm pretty certain the first sentence I wrote comes as no surprise to you either.
At any rate, I left work early because of the weather. When I was cleaning my car off, there was already probably three inches of snow or so already there. And it continued to snow the rest of the night. Down there at work, it was wet, thick, and heavy. The roads were kinda nasty, although I didn't have any troubles, just had to take it slow. I passed through four intersections with streetlights, three of them were out, no power. The large mall in the area was closed and all shut down due to loss of power. And even now, over twenty four hours after I got home, large areas are still without power. The ParisPekings being in one of them. Mrs. took the girls to a hotel, Mr is staying at the house in case the pipes freeze.
Here at my house, when I got home, I had no cable or internet, but did have power. The cable/Internet came back on about 5 hours after I got home. And I'm really not complaining, cause I've been in this house for over two years, and in the apartment for 12 years before that in all that time I have NEVER lost power. And to my recollection, this is only the second time that I ever lost cable for any length of time. So all in all, I'm pretty sastified with the power & cable companies around here. Well their service anyway, their prices? Yeah, we can have a bitchfest about that another day.
I heat with electric, and I generally dont leave it on overnight downstairs. Or not at least until it's VERY cold outside. So last night, I turned it off. When I came down today...it was COLD! I turned the heat on, but the place didn't warm up very fast.
It's okay now, and the sun's out and melting all the snow. And I've heard 50's later in the week. But this freak blast of cold was something! I don't EVER recall snow here before Halloween. I certainly dont remember it being this cold this early. It doesn't feel like South Central PA. Wasilla Alaska, maybe, but not South Central PA!
Oh, and some photos, oh my car half cleaned off yesterday, of the parking lot and what it looked like outside, and then the thermometer I have at the house.
The right temp is outside the house, the left temp is INSIDE the house! And at 11:24 AM nonetheless! BRRRR!

sitting on a sofa and spit into the fire...
Today I had off work because I was getting my new sofa delivered. It was to be here anytime between 9 :30, they were at my front door. They had to take the front legs off to get it inside, but once they did, it was easy peasy from there. And it turns out the one guy was a Cowboys fan (he saw my football stuff), who liked the Dragonlance series (he saw the books on a shelf) and had played D&D (that just came out in conversation). And the other guy, well he was a Redskins fan, and had read or played any of that stuff. But whatever, I got my new sofa, that's what matters. And they were gone before 10:15.
It's comfy, both when sitting on it and when laying on it. And I got to "break it in" when a fuckbuddy arrived unexpectedly. But I thought ahead and put a blanket down before we...started. Didn't want to get anything smeared on the new sofa.
At any rate, here is a photo of my old sofa, sitting in the dining room waiting for my cousin and his step-son to come get it (they're gonna store it in the basement until the step-son moves out. He's getting furniture packed away so that when he moves out, he already has stuff to sit on.).
And this the new one, in it's place of honor in the living room.
I believe the color is mocha chocolate. Whatever. It surely is comfy though.

I am very tired, but very happy. Last night, when he got off work at 930, I met Kris at his work and we came back here. There was some making out. Then a shower. Then a glass of wine, cuffling, and chatting. Then bedtimesexxyfun.
I love having Kris spend the night, because I love the feeling of him next to me. I love having our arms, legs, bodies, intertwined. But in doing so, I slept at an odd angle and now my neck's a bit stiff. And I didn't sleep very soundly either, so I'm a bit tired rom that.
Course none of that affected the bedtimesexxyfun that occured upon waking up. Then as we lay there, recovering, I was thinking about what we were going to do this afternoon (as by then, it was already almost 11:00AM). And then it occured to me.
So after a shower together, we headed off to Frederick. There, we had a delicious lunch at aka Friscos. And just like everyone else I take there, he fell in love with the place the first time. Following this, we drove to Barnes & Noble where we each found at least one book we wanted, and I got to talk to Big Joe, who was a manager at the Borders store when I worked there, but has been a manager of B&N for years. Nice to see him again. And then we went to Beyond Comics where Kris managed to find a graphic novel he was looking for. And then I took him back to his apartment and drove home. And I just finished the second half of the Friscos sandwish I brought home for supper! YUM!
And of course, we had a great time together all day. He's just such fun to be with. Best of all, his regular days off are Monday and Thursdays, and MY regular days off are Sunday and Monday, so this 'coming-over-after-work-Sunday-staying-until-Monday' thing could happen again. And best BEST of all, I got a call from the furniture store: They're delivering my new sofa on Thursday between 9-1. Which means I won't be going to work on Thursday. Which means he'll be coming over again Wednesday night and spending the night into Thursday! YAY!

So, this afternoon, with the assistance of A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking, I finally got around to ordering an iPhone. Yeah, I know, bought time I caught up modern technology, right? Aw, shut up.
It was quite a pleasant experience because ALCMDPP, who apparently enjoying such things, did all the research and ordering online for me. All I had to do was say, "Yeah" "No" "I'll take that choice", etc. Oh, and then type in my credit card number, which was the worst part of the whole deal I assure you.
At any rate, this'll be the lil' ditty that will arrive at my front door sometime before November 14:
And then it'll sit in it's box until ALCMDPP can come over and open it for me, cause he's had plenty of experience with these things and I've had exactly zero. So he'll show me how to get it all set up and get the apps I want on it and stuff like that. Cause, as the old man I am so frequently accused of being, I'm not good with new technologies like this.
