Im going to try to keep track of how many books I buy this year, just to see how much I spend.
So, Sunday at Barnes&Noble I bought: four books for a total of $49.71. And then today at Ollie's Bargain Outlet I bought four books for a total of $13.14 (well it IS a 'bargain' outlet).
So the total so far this year is: $62.85 for 8 books.

I've been exclusively e-book for the last year. I've spent $150 on 50 books - some were as little as a buck, others $20 but on average it's $3 per book off Amazon.com.
And I just realized, I read a little less than a book a week.
Like Truthspew I buy exclusively e-books. I don't WANNA know how much I've spent. Seriously, ignorance is bliss although with reviewing and sales in the last year it's been much less.
You could join Goodreads. It's great for keeping track of my books although you'd have to put a comment in the "review" section how much you spent on each book. It's great for keeping tabs though.
I try my hardest to never buy books. I mostly get all my books from the library.
I did however buy an ebook last night because they didn't have it at the library and I need to read it by Friday morning for my book club.
I get my books from the library. I put them on hold on their website and pick them up when they come in. I may have to wait a month or two for the new releases, but I shudder to think of what I would pay for them at the bookstore (I read A LOT).
I'm with you Michelle. I read about 2 books a week. Not only would it cost a lot but where would I put them all?
