So, Polt, how have you been lately? Gee thanks for asking. Let's see...
Last week, I was sick two days. Didn't go to work. I spent the day on the couch. I caught up on the two X-Files episodes from the recent run that I had missed. Overall, I gotta say I was underimpressed with the six part season.
But it got me curious, so I started binge watching the first season of the series, from all the way back in 1994. I gotta say, I was underimpressed with the first season as well. I mean, it had some of my favorite, most memorable episodes (the ones with Eugene Tooms, "Ice", "Darkness Falls", etc). And yet over all the series doesn't seem to be as...good as I remember. Maulder is frankly an ass. And there's too much "well suppose this" or "well what if that",totally ignoring the scientific explanations for what was going on. And I guess that IS what the X-Files are all about, sorta. But geez, Maulders and egotistical, know-it-all ass when he says it. And that horrible one, about the astronauts and space....oh my God, that was just almost unendurable.
I had wanted to re-watch the entire series and now, I'm not sure I will. At least not one season right after the other. I may need some time inbetween. I should be wrapping season 1 up soon.
I spoke to my friend Diego in New York, on Tuesday night AND Wednesday night, the first time we spoke back to back. And then AGAIN on Sunday afternoon. Despite talking to him so often, and for about three hours or more each time, it's still always interesting and fascinating.
Saturday evening, I went to a murder mystery at a local winery. I went with three friends: Michelle, Celeste, and Lynn. Had a pretty good time. It was fun, even though we didn't solve the mystery correctly. Of course the four bottles of Golddigger wine we drank probably helped.
Sunday, I went with mom to look at cars. She's looking to get a new one sometime this year.
Had my car looked at, and had to have the transmission fluid replaced, nice bill there for no change in the way the car is running. Which is a little....rougher then usual. So I have an appointment with the dealership in two weeks to look at it.
Spent tonight on a binge of House Of Cards, Season 4. That, unlike the X-Files, is amazing! Just as all the other seasons have been.
Today is Sunday, I wrapped up House of Cards, totally completely unlike anything else on TV and just outstanding in all ways!
Last Monday, I found out I had to get work done on my car on Tuesday, so I called in and that day off, until mom and I spoke and she told me I could take her car to work. So I canceled that leave. Tuesday after work, I went to the mechanic, paid the bill, then drove out to mom's to pick her up, drove her back in to the mechanic's, and so I could get my car and she could then have hers. We decided to get something to eat at a local eatery. On the way there, I got a call from my hair stylist: I had an appointment after work.
I keep my hair appointment cards in my checkbook and when I was on the phone with her I looked and the card said it was March 16th, not the 1st. But when I pulled the card out, the march 16th appointment was for the dentist, not the hair. *SIGH* So luckily, she could fit me in on Thursday after work. And Thursday after work, I went over and got my monthly cut-n-color!
Stress around the house has been a little lower this week, hopefully that continues. We'll have to see if it does.
Tonight, I'm going with Michelle to Celeste's house and we're having a small party for the series finale of Downton Abbey. We'll be watching that and possibly tearing up a bit. I'll just have to catch this week's Walking Dead when they repeat it before next week's new episode.
Work's been work, nothing big there. Mom's doing well. Busy as always, she does more stuff now that she's retired than when she was working!
So yeah, that's been my last two weeks or so. Now, aren't you glad you asked?
