Little talk Johnny blew the big score...

Last night, after work Phoenix came by and we went to eat.

We went to Red Robin. One just opened here recently, but I've been to one before. When My Fairy Godfather Mark lived in Virginia, there was one near him, and we went a few times. It's a quirky place, basically it's a gourmet hamburger place. Gourmet in the way that the burgers are larger, and thicker and juicier and tastier than your regular burger. And there's endless fries. Yummy.

Anyway, when we got there we were greated at the door by Tay Tay. yes, that's the name on her tag. I don't know how she pronounced it, but I pronounced it rhyming with Day-Day. And it's my new favorite name ever. I used it all night every opportunity I could get. Tay Tay. *SIGH* And she was one of those perky I'm really too good to work here but I'm doing it anyway type of high school girls. I was not impressed. Strange, that, cause you'd think with a name like Tay Tay, I'd be impressed all to hell and back.

Anyway, I wanted to order a drink, a strawberry daiquiri. the only photo I saw on the menu was of a drink in a big round glass mug thing with fruit on the side. SO i asked the waitress about it and she said, "Well I can put the fruit on if you want." And I said, "No I don't want-" And then I thought about it. i really didn't want the fruit on the side, I didn't want a foofy girlie drink. And then I thought, hey, why not live a little. I'm almost a foofy girlie myself, so why not. So i told her, "Yes, YES, give me a strawberry daiquiri WITH the fruit." And that's what I got. Ate the pineapple slice and cherry while Phoenix when to wash his hands. I also make sure I hadn't lost the talent, and I tied the cherry stem into a knot with my tongue. I didn't say anything to Phoenix, cause I don't think he would have been impressed. And they had seated three grandparently type people at a table close to us, and I saw the one lady watching me do it, and i felt that was enough. i didn't want her stroke out to hear me telling Phoenix.

The meal as I said, was quite good. And afterwards, since there's a Circuit City right next door we went there. And I hit the mother-humping motherload! they had bins there containing boxed DVD sets of TV shows...on SALE! I picked up Season 6 of OZ for 19.99 and Seasons 4, 5, and 6 of The West Wing for 21.99. And ALL of them were originally priced at 49.99. SCORE!

I had to think about it first, cause I wanted to fill out my collection of those series, but I didn't really have the money to spend, even at $20 a pop. But then I realized I was getting them for OVER 50% off, and I really wouldn't be able, probably, to get them all at once for such a low price. Oh, I'm sure I could troll eBay and maybe get one cheapere and one cheaper there, but WHY? Why not just get them all now. So i did.

But I still needed OZ season 5 and West Wing Season 3, and they didn't have them there. So today, over lunch, I went to the local Circuit City, and they had a much smaller selection, but they DID have OZ 5, and WW3!

I'm in prison drama/political drama heaven! In total, the original prices would have cost me $300. I got them all for roughly $130, with tax. SCHWEET!

now I just have to find the time to watch them all......

It's time once more for....

Okay, kiddies, today's HNT comes with a bit of a warning for you all. Everyone's used Saran Wrap, or things like it, before right? Very handy for wrapping up sandwiches, or leftovers, and such. An essential in the kitchen, I'd say.

WELL, be careful, cause it can also be deadly. Or, if you don't want to be so melodramatic, how about painful?

A few weeks ago, I was in the process of preparing a meal for lunch at work. I already had the chips in the Ziploc, and I had put the apple in the bag as well. I had toasted the two slices of bread, put the mayo on one, the cheese on the other, and several ham slices in between them. The sandwich was quite delicatable looking, and ready to be wrapped for later consumption.

With my right hand, I gripped the Saran Wrap and pulled a suitable portion off. Then I pulled the wrap across those sharp little shark's teeth they have on the side of the box to make tearing it easy. Pffft, yeah, easy, right!

Well the wrap suddenly tore, and the box slid up my arm. Which was fine in and of itself. BUT the nasty, sharp, little killer shark teeth there sliced right into my arm.

Oh it hurt. And it bled. I thought I'd pass out. And once the moment of melodrama ended, I looked at the cut, swore a bit, and then washed it off. I didn't put a band-aid on it, cause, well, look at all that hair! Imagine the pain in trying to rip it off!!!

Anyway, I'm just warning you all to watch out for those little teeth, they're not as harmless as they first appear to be.

Think I'll buy me a football team (Week 2)...

TMI Tuesday is a few posts down, if you're looking for it.

Well two of three things worked out for me this week. 1)Dallas won, and is not 2-0. 2) Indianapolis won, so I'm still in the winner's pool at work ($290 at stake). BUT 3) in the bets with Johnnie, I went 1-2.

So, in the bets, it stands at 3-4, and I owe Johnnie a dollar, but that's right now. Things change. Overall, I'm 18-14. Johnnie's 19-13. But again, it's only week two. Things change. And frankly, if I had to choose any of the three to be off on, it would be the bets with Johnnie. I have plenty of time to make up any losses to him. I don't want Dallas to have too many losses, and once I lose in the pool at work, I'm out. So this was the best choice, of the potential bad things that could have happened.

Too Much Information Tuesday

These come from http://tmituesday.blogspot.com/.

1. What is one thing a your significant other could do to you to rock your world? Show up here on a surprise visit.
2. Which super power (ability to turn invisible, ability to read people's thoughts, or invulnerability) would you take and why? Reading people's thoughts. Why? Cause firstly, I'd know the truth all the time. No body would be able to lie, or falsely flatter, or cheat on me. And secondly, I'd get to find out if that cute Asian twinkie with a hairthing that could be gay, really is or not, AND I'd also be able to find out if he's into older, fat, hairy, red-headed gay men!
3. Would you rather be tied up or tie someone else up? Why? Definitely tie someone else up. Why would I want to be tied up. Oh, now if you're talking for sexual fun, well, I guess it would depend on my mood.
4. What is your best physical and non physical asset? Physical: my eyes. A beautiful shade of blue. Non-physical: sense of humor.
5. If they were naming new Dwarves beyond the seven what would your name be and why?
Oh this one's easy! Horny!

Eight days a week...

I got notice tonight that I was tagged by Valyna. I have actually done this meme before, but since it's from the lovely, if a bit twisted, Valyna, how can I say no? After all, I'm lovely and a bit twisted myself. I just hope I can come up with 8 things about myself that I haven't already talked about on here. Whatever, here we go....

Here are the rules:

1) Post these rules before you give your facts
2) List 8 random facts about yourself
3) At the end of your post, choose (tag) 8 people and list their names, linking to them
4) Leave a comment on their blog, letting them know they've been tagged

1. I hate it when guys named William abbreviate it "Wm". Wanna go by Will? Willy? Bill? Billy? That's all fine as those ARE names. "Wm" just seems lazy.

2. When I see a big fancy car or truck purposefully parked diagonally across two or more parking spaces, i just want to scrape my keys right along the side. Like thier big obscene gas guzzler is so much more important, that it deserves to park that way. It's just arrogance.

3. I don't know why, but all my favorite comediennes were red-heads. Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, Madeline Kahn, Kathy Griffin, go figure.

4. While I LOVE the Dallas Cowboys, the only professional football games I've seen have been thier arch-enemies, the Washintong Redskins. I saw the 'Skins in Washington 3 times. Coincidentally, all three times, the 'Skins lost.

5. When I was 14, I told my mother to go to hell. Without turning, she swung her hand back and caught me across the face. It was so fast, I didn't see it coming. I never said a swear word, not even in a joke, in front of her for 10 years.

6. Since I live on the third floor, and there's no buildings nearby that can see in my windows, when I'm home, I'm usually naked. Even in winter. I just prefer it that way.

7. I love it when my mom makes Hog Maw, I have since I was a kid. Luckily, I didn't know it was pig's stomach until I was much much older, or I wouldn't ever have eaten it.

8. I hate pooping, always have. When i was in Junior High, and younger, I'd go once maybe twice a week, which was kinda painful, naturally, which led to me not wanting to go even more. However, something happened in my freshman year of college, I have no idea what, but I just couldn't hold it any longer. Now I frequently go two or three times a day.

(yeah, well, sorry about that last one, I was running outta ideas)

I'm not gonna pick anyone else to do this, if you want to, feel free to do so, and let me know you did!

Funny how we're supposed to put any stock in this report with this general's name on it, when the report was completed and edited in the White House. Anyone wonder why the general's superior was not there with him instead of the ambassador? Cause the Admiral that's his superior is not a Bushie flunkie and he's doing his own investigations and will be issuing his own report soon. Don't expect the White House to have anything to do with THAT report though.

People everywhere, new hairstyles...

I was in a store one day last week. I turned the corner into an aisle and immediate saw a kid of about 13 or so pushing a cart, with his mom and dad right behind him. I took a cursory glance at all three of them and said to myself, "There's not doubt that boy is that man's son, they look exactly alike." And then I looked away.

Seconds later, I heard the man say, "Polt?" And I looked back to him. It took me a second to realize it was a guy I had gone to school with, Jeff V. And not just any guy, back in Junior High School we were best friends. I was one of the tallest guys in our class, and even though I wasn't as fat as I am now, I was a big guy. Jeff was one of the smaller guys, petite. I remember catching a glimpse of him in 8th grade gym class, he hadn't hit puberty yet.

We were both kinda picked on, him for being small and scrawny, me for being big and 'fat'. Just can't win in Junior High, i guess. Anyway, that's partially what brought us together. Also, we were both HUGE Star Trek geeks. In 7th grade, we could both name all 70-some episodes of the orginial series (that's all the Star Trek there was, then), most of them in order. We had read all the same Star Trek novels. And in addition, we were both in the gifted program at the school. There were about 15-20 of us in the program, and all of us had several classes together.

Once we reached high school, Jeff and I kinda drifted apart a bit. I mean we were still friends, but we weren't best friends anymore. That status changed, as happens in school.

At any rate, when i saw him last week, I didn't even recognize him. he was a bit heavier (which is understandable, he's almost 40), but by no means fat. And as we talked (for less than 10 minutes), i wondered how I could NOT have noticed him right away. He was wearing, I think, the same style glasses as he did in school, and I KNOW he was combing his hair exactly the same: parted high on the left side, and combed straight over and straight down, kinda almost exactly like Senator Tim Johnson.

And while it's bad enough Jeff hasn't changed his hair in 20 years, what was worse was that his son had his hair exactly the same way!!! Hopefully as he gets a bit more older, into adolescence, he'll become a bit more trendy with his hair.

Jeff and I didn't speak long, because our conversation seemed...strained. I mean, we hadn't really talked in 20 years, and I'm certain we'd have very little in common. We both said we were doing well. We said where we were working (he's doing IT work for a local company, which does not surprise me at all. In high school, he was seriously into computers, like our own local Bill Gates). And then i said he looked good, healthy, and such. he said the same, even though I'm probably 70 lbs heavier then the last time i saw him. And then we shook hands, wished each other luck and parted.

25 years ago, I could not have imagined NOT having anything to say to Jeff. Funny how time flies. Funny how naive we are when we're young.
