Maria de Guadalupe Santiago was born in the Central American nation of Costa Verde. She has the power to mimic the abilities of animal native to her land: jaguars, anacondas, cockatoos, monkeys, sloths, pumas, crocodiles and the like. She came to New York City to attend college and ended up helping the Avengers on a case. She became a reserve member of the team.
She was created by Kurt Busiek and The Maestro George Perez, who drew the above illustraion. She looked interesting...she was actually a pretty dull and uninteresting character. And by the way, Costa Verde is of course a made up country, but it was made up in 1966 by Stan Lee in Avengers #35!
