Once again, I've fallen behind keeping up with this thing, having bought three more books back on August 1st.
And before we go any further, let me just say I'm a bit unsatisfied with Barnes&Noble delivery. On the 1st I ordered three books. The next day, Friday the 2nd, I recieved emails that one book was sent from outside Chicago and shipped by the Post Office. The other two shipped from New York City, via DHL and they for some reason, sent it to Elkton MD and then gave it to UPS, who shipped it the rest of the way.
Okay, so Chicago is 622 miles from here, New York City is 232 miles away. The one book from Chicago, shipped by USPS arrived Tuesday, the 6th, a mere 4 days later. The two books from New York City, shipped by DHL/UPS arrived Saturday the 10th, a full 8 days later! Why the hell did it take double the time when they only had a third of the way to go?
Course, I guess I should be upset with DHL/UPS, and not B&N. But whatever, I was not happy. I've been reading the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who books, and trying to read them in chronological order, and was able to do so with books 1-8. But when I completed the 8th one, I only had the one book from Chicago, which was the one from Chicago. So I started reading that one, skipping the 9th and 10th one, since they didn't arrive until Saturday. But whatever, I started on the 9th one today. I'm expecting to get the entire series done before the end of August. But we'll talk more about this when having done so. Onto what this post is really about:
