Green Lantern III
DC Comics Green Lantern III first appeared in Green Lantern #59 in March 1968. Guy Gardner was a teacher at the time Abin Sur's ship crashed on Earth. KNowing he was dying, Sur had his Power Ring find a suitable candidates to recieve the ring. It found two candidates: Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner. But since Jordan was closer, the ring chose him, and he became Green Lantern II. Gardner was kept as an unknowing backup.
Over time, Gardner got his own ring and became a Green Lantern in his own right, working for several years with the Justice League Of America. His ring grants him the same abilities as Green Lantern's II listed below.
