Green Lama
The Green Lama first appeared in Double Detective Vol. 5, #5 in April 1940. Jethro Dumont was a rich young man who, fresh out of Harvard, went to Tibet to study Buddhist teaching to become a lama. He gained mystical powers while doing so, and returned to his native NYC prior to World War II and used them to fight crime there.
