Chapter 9, Page 4...
I got to work Friday without problem, and it was rather uneventful, until mid-morning. Then, I started to feel a little upset in my stomach. I thought it might go away when I had something to eat, but after lunch, I didn't feel any better. And in fact I started to feel quite a bit worse. My neck and shoulders got very VERY sore. I started aching all over and feeling very hot. I hung with it until 45 minutes before I was due to leave anyway, and then just left and came home.
I got here, undressed, laid on the couch and almost right away slept. It was a very fitful sleep, but it lasted for about two hours. it was miserable sleep, but sleep it was. When I woke up I was very warm, felt feverish, and was still very achy. I went looking for my thermometer to see if I had a fever and....couldn't find it. I even climbed up on a chair to look on the top shelf. Pulled most of the cold cures I had out of the cupboard and onto the shelf and still no thermometer. I checked in the medicine cabinet in the bathroom, nothing.
I called mom, on both her cellphone and the housephone, to see if she could go get me one, but she wasn't home. Eventually, she called me and said she'd go get me one. When she got here with it ("All they had was a rectal one...HA, no I'm kidding"...bless her) I used it and had a temp of 100 degrees. After taking it, and after mom left, I had some toast and took pills and watched TV and tried not to hurt too much.
About 830, I went upstairs, took a shower, and then went to bed. I ended up sleeping for about 12 hours, but again, it wasn't restful sleep, I kept rolling over and then I would ache, and so on and so on. I did manage to call in to work and take off for Saturday. I hate doing that, I can count on hand the Saturdays that I took off without prior planning to do so.
