Alive unless Charlton Heston's death over shadowed his then he could be dead but that photo looks like he's most likely forty in the 70s I think so maybe dead but I'm gonna go with alive...

Sigh, again neither alive nor dead. No one named Roddy McDowell appeared in Planet of the Apes. Roddy McDowall did. You need to start choosing actual people, or spell better.
