So mom plays cards...well probably once a week. There's a group of women out at the Village where she lives that she's been playing with regularly for, well years. I'm not positive what game, but I know there's bidding involved.
When I went out to Mom's Sunday she told me she wanted to show me something and took out onto her back porch. She said the ladies do a lot of talking (I do not find that hard to believe at ALL!) and sometimes they forget what was bid. So she said she had a solution to that:
She cut a wood beam into four parts. She painted all the sides white. Then she drew on each one, on different sides a heart, a diamond, a club and a spade. Then she painted them in with the appropriate colors. They were drying when I took the photo. She said she just had to glue some felt onto the bottom of each and then they were ready to be used.
Whenever they place a bid, they'll put the suit first up. And that way, whoever wins the bid has their suit facing up, and they'll keep it up while the hand is played. So that way they'll all see and be able to remember, what suit they're playing.
Who thinks of doing something like that? Who would be able to do it all herself???
Only Mama Polt.
