Works hard for the money....
Things I hate about work today.
1) Foot odor. Bad foot odor. The foot odor that smells like rotten cheese and mushrooms mixed with high school locker room.
2) Crazy people that talk to themselves, loudly and incoherently. Although the singing off key and the occasional "WHOOOOO!"s do keep things lively.
3) The fact the even though the bossy, know it all coworker is off today, her evil shadow still lingers and permeates everything.
4) Demands that take several steps to complete, even though they are demanded RIGHT NOW! Or actually, the people that make those demands.
5) The cafeteria food. The ranch dressing was off. Way off. Someone needs to look into that.
6) The fact that certain male coworkers are not required to wear tight, revealing clothing that would accentuate their already luscious musclecatures.
7) The Internet blocker here at work STILL blocks the Palace. But thankfully not Blogger itself.
8) Having to get to work by 8:00am. This is actually not a hate just from today, but rather, it's something I hate EVERY workday.
9) No drinking on the job. Man, I could use a bottle of LaBatts right about now.
10) There's not a Leave At Noon On Fridays policy. And there damn well should be.

Never thought you'd make mistakes like this...
Senate Republicans continue their obstuctionist ways and filibuster three attempts to simply start debate, not to actually VOTE on, but just start debate on, a banking regulation bill. They eventually caved when they realized it wasn't politically beneficial to be seen as defending the big financial institutions that caused the economic implosion two years ago.
The wingnuts of the Republican Party in Florida chase the popular Republican governor out of their party and into running as an independent for Senate because he's not 'Republican' enough. They prefer the Tea Party candidate. So now, the Republican votes for Senate will be split between two candidates while the Democratic votes should all go to one candidate.
And with a 100 mile long oil slick drifting it's way towards Louisiana and being just three miles away from land, I gotta ask: How's the whole Drill, Baby, Drill thing working out for ya, Miss Hockey Mom? *WINK* Seriously, can people now see what was wrong with Palin's whole schtick? Well, no, those who NEED to see that, won't, because they ignore anything, no matter how factual or obvious, that doesn't jive with the way they think.
So, with all this going on right now, just how upsetting must it be to be a Republican?

Dont call a doctor cause theres nothing wrong with me (Part 1)...
Due to prior engagements with Corey over the last two Saturday, I had A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking DVR the new Dr. Who's for me.
Last night was the prearranged time for me to go see them. I bought supper of pizza and wings for all the ParisPekings: mom, dad, and three little ones. Oh and big chocolate chip cookies for dessert for the adults. The food was good, the company better. And the littlest ParisPeking, Baby Jackie, all of almost two years old, now says my name. Or a reasonable two year facsimile thereof. She said, "Goodbye, Polt" and "hello, Polt" more than once. It's just aDORable. Melts my heart it does.
Anyways, David watched the Dr. Who's with me, and he seemed underimpressed. But then he's never been a Dr. Who fan. In fact, I'm not sure if he's ever even heard of Dr. Who before I asked him to DVR it.
At any rate, there could be spoilers below, so beware if you don't like that sort of thing. As for the new Dr. Who, my thoughts are...well it's too soon to tell. He's not traditionally handsome or attractive, but is kinda cute. I mean, I like the floppy hair, but his face is rather....misshapen? Has kind of a huge head.
As for the character, he just seems to be a continuation of the David Tennant Doctor. I know I've only seen two episodes, so maybe they plan on subtley changing things as the season progresses. They really need to get him some different mannerisms and catchphrases. Amy Pond I'm enjoying as well. She's quite cute, and seems gutsy and a strong foil for the doctor. They should work out well together.
I enjoyed the first episode quite a bit, especially the cute laptop guy Jeff. His part was much too small. But other than that, I found it funny and it had me from nearly the very beginning. The second one, well it left me a little cold. But when i saw the previews for the third one...Winston Churchill with the Daleks in shadow...well, I squeed. And I punched A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking several times in the arm. Naturally, he didn't share my enthusiasm.
So in the end, I guess as far as I'm concerned, the jury is still out, but I'm optimistic.

Meet you at the cemetery gates, keats and yeats...
Over the last ten years or so, I've taken an Easter egg to my grandfather's grave at Easter and placed it there, for him. In doing so this year, I walked down to the cemetery. And since pap's grave is on the other side of the cemetery, I walked through the cemetery.
I love cemeteries (although not at night...*shudder*). I like looking at the gravestones and seeing the dates they lived and imaging what they experienced in the their lives. And I like looking at the statues and stuff on the graves. Especially the angels, I always liked angels.
So when I was walking towards pap's grave, I took these photos:
An obelisk as big as some of the surrounding trees.
Sorry for the fuzziness, but I like this simple colonnade. It a simple design, but rather elaborate for a gravestone.
An angel. And I don't know if you can see it, but the stains from the rains makes it look like she's crying.
An angel atop an elaborate grave. The Hoeflich's obviously had money. I remember a teacher telling us in high school that back in the 1920's, my little town, Waynesboro had the highest number of millionaires, per capita, or any place in the country. It doesn't surprise me, what with all the large manufacturing companies founded around here and the small size of the town. So I suppose all the large monuments attest to that fact.
Again, I'm not sure if you can see it or not, but there are three large obelsisks in this one photo, all of them again larger than some of the trees around them.
Another sad angel.
And finally, Pap's grave, with the egg I made for him resting on it.

Make Me Happy And Gleeful...
This week's episode was better than last week's, but still not up to the standards I've come to expect from it. It did however, have a LOT of upsides:
Kristin Chenoweth was awesome, but kinda wasted, I thought.
No Rachel or Finn singing, and two for Mercedes and one for Kurt. Well done.
Tracy Pendergrass and the long haired bassist at the rolley rink were both pretty hot.
Touching scene with Kurt's dad and Finn.
Touching sentiment in the "Beautiful" song.
And the songs seemed less forced than before.
And my favorite quotes:
How do you two not have a show on Bravo? - Sue Sylvester
I'm pretty sure my cat's reading my diary. - Brittany
You both have dead spouses, perhaps you should talk. - Kurt
Keep up the good work.

Those belvedere weekends, were just the beginning...
I spent Saturday night in Baltimore with Corey. And his mom and stepdad. We went to the Hippodrome to see "Phantom Of The Opera". I've never been a fan of Phantom, and I'm still not. This one was MUCH better than any of the others I've seen. The set were elaborate, the costumes outstanding, the acting, pretty damn good. But I still didn't like it.
Phantom has too much melodrama in it for me. It reminds me of a chick flick, and I don't like chick flicks, so it shouldn't be a surprise that I'd not like a chick flick on stage. It was entertaining, just not my cup of tea.
The others seemed to enjoy it, and that's cool. We rode down in a Hummer, my first time riding in one. I'm 6'1" and I still needed a step ladder to get into the damn thing. And it was huge, with leather interior and surround sound stereo system and while it was an awesome ride, it was also too decadent for me. Seriously, a family of four in most parts of the world, and large swatches of America, couldn't afford it, but could live inside it. It's crazy.
We ate at The Paper Moon Diner. Clicking there will take you to their website and you can see photos of what it looks like, and I can assure you, it looks exactly like that. Eccentric doesn't even begin to cover it. The food was good, I liked the atmosphere, although not all of them did.
And after the meal, it was to the Hippodrome for the play. Out seats were Orchestra, row R, and I got to sit right along the aisle. Awesome seats. ANd afterwards, we drove home singing to the music on an iPod. Everything from Frank Sinatra, to House of Pain, to 70's love ballads.
All in all, a great evening. And the third Saturday night in a row I've spent with Corey. If only it was more than just friends. *SIGH*
Then, last night, I celebrated my friend Me-Chell's birthday. It began with me going to her apartment and having a beer with her and her cute boyfriend Scott. Then two friends showed up, and then a third. Shortly we went to Buffalo Wild Wings and met two other friends. The group of us then proceeded to consume lots of alcohol, wings, other kinds of chicken, and played the video trivia game there. We even ate cake that some of the friends brought. A good time definitely had by all!
Just like the weekend as a whole! Great time had by all involved!
UPDATE: I forgot these...PHOTOS!
Maggie, squinting at me. She's Me-Chell and Scott's dog.
The birthday girl herself, Me-Chell! I'm not certain why she has that look on her face, but I blame the half dozen or more Coronas.
This the three people from my workplace that attended: Mama D., Chelsea, and of course, Yours Truly!
I took a photo of the cake from behind it, and that's why my hands' and the camera's shadows are in the way.
Me-Chell took this photo of it herself. You can see her shadows at the bottom of the photo. And then we cut it up and ate it! nom, nom, nom!

Cause they're all different names for the same place...
I might have posted about this before, if I have forgive me.
I got an online coupon for 33% off a book a Borders. SO after work I went there. Got a magazine, a history book (all history books were 20% off) and used the coupon for 33% off of a Philip Dick scifi book. At any rate, when I was in there, I read an employees badge, and it brought back a memory from when I worked there. And I laughed right there in the store.
There was one Sunday when, before we opened, and I have no idea why, but we decided to change all the names on our lanyards. Zack became Thor, Lee became Andreas, I became Tallulah. Best of all, A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking wanted to be Stephen Fury, but since he can't spell his way out of wet paper bag, he misspelled it Stephen Furry! And we wouldn't let him change the spelling, so he was Stephen Furry. Oh man, how we laughed at him! And how I still do.
I don't recall exactly, but I know we continued to wear them even after the store opened. But not for long. Someone used the intercom to call "Thor" to registers for help, and someone else called another one of us by the false name. Aand then the assistant manager on duty called out to us and told us we were done and had to stop and go back to our real names.
Nonetheless, it was a blast and one of my favorite memories from there. Stephen Furry....bwahahahahhhaha....

no date son, you gotta work late...
So tonight, my buddy Don stopped by. He's the guy I caught up with in January and we decided we'd try to date again. However, we didn't even talk to each other until earlier this week. And we both kinda decided that dating, right now, isn't gonna work. See his situation is awkward for me to deal with, so no dating. But sex...yeah, the sex was always incredible, and it was so tonight as well. It was the best two and half hours I've spent this week.
Also, at one point, his mom called. I didn't stop what I was doing, even while he was talking to her. I told him a story about how a few years ago, I was with Freddie when my friend Michelle called me. We talked for a bit, and then she asked why I was breathing heavy and I told her what we were doing. Oh, how we laughed.
So then, just a bit after telling him that, my phone rang and it was....MICHELLE! Oh the irony! And what's better is that she and I talked for a bit again, while Don kept doing what he was doing, until I told her again what was going on! Laughter ensued.
So, just keep in mind that if you call me, and I'm breathing a bit heavy...well, I dont like to jog or anything, so that wouldn't be the cause of it.

Back down in my hometown, everybody's feelin...
Early last December, I took a walk to the Post Office to mail...something. At any rate, along the way, I took some photos of my small hometown of Waynesboro. The photos were all on the computer that went tits up earlier this year and I lost access to them. but, when Corey fixed it up, I was able to get them off. And so, here they are.
Enjoy this evening stroll through Waynesboro.
An antique store front.
This little building is on the town square and it's not only a home, but its also a store, the Olympia Candy Kitchen. It's been there for a long time, for more than 100 ears or more, I think. They made and sold their own candy there. Its a town landmark.
A church was lit up from the inside and I liked the sight of it coming through the windows.
This is a bare piece of ground with a parking lot behind it. Thirty years ago it was the home of my childhood best friend Trudy. There was a house here that they lived in. Several years back, the nearby church bought it and tore it down.
This is Town Hall. Its the largest building in town. It was built in the 1800's as a firehall, with horse drawn fire engine. It's also been the police station, a theater, and an opera house(!). Now it's used just for the town's administrative business. Oh, and the clock tower keeps perfect time.
One of the two fire stations we have in town.
One of the street lights along main street, decorated for the holidays.
The town's public library. It's along main street and in an old mansion converted to the library. They made an addition to it about twenty years ago, which I think is an eyesore. So I didn't include that in the photo.
This another open patch of empty land. Well not quite empty, it's got playground equipment on it. I just liked the way the light play was in the photo.
The town Post Office.
The town square. You can see the town Christmas Tree on the right. They used to put it in the center of the square bypassing traffic around it. And after much controversy, they decided to move it to the side of the square instead. I liked it better in the center.
A random storefront. I like the layout and design of it.
Another storefront. This one splits around the center glass case and goes to two seperate stores. Innovative design.
The world famous Waynesburger, lit up and doing business.
Hope you liked your nighttime sojourn through my home town!
