Rockin' around, the Christmas tree.....

So today after work, it was time to put up the Christmas Tree and decorate the house!  With Mama Polt to help.  And of course, there are PHOTOS!

This is the space before we put up the tree.

And before starting, The WINE!

Wine, Mama Polt and Christmas decorating...oh no NOTHING could possibly go wrong here!

So I got the tree up out of the basement and found out one of the largest branches on the bottom had broken off.  No way to fix (although we tried with duct tape).  So then we unwrapped the string of light from around the branch (which is a LOT easier than it sounds) and were just gonna go without that branch.  Which left a rather huge hole.  So we turned the tree around to face the wall and were just gonna go with that.

And by then, it was time for the second glass.  But then we realized another branch had broken off the same way.  Ah, well, the tree served it's purpose for 4 good years.  It was time to move on.  The old tree was dumped out on the front porch to await the garbage man, and off we went to Wal-Mart!

There I purchase another tree.  One that does not have the lights already on it, and that you have to assemble.  So the branches wont already be on there when I bring it up out of the basement.

Mama Polt getting ready to put the top on the headless tree.

Filling the tree out.

The fully built, undecorated tree.

Mama Polt decorating the tree.  You may, or may not, be able to see that the top string of lights is a little bit whiter and lighter than the bottom two strings.  They were in all the same box, all claiming to be the same kind...although obviously, they're not.  And  we had talked about returning one set, but we didn't know how we'd find what we needed since even unplugged they all looked the same.  And I didn't feel like going back to Wal-Mart again, so I said screw it.  I can just say the lights on the top of the tree have fresh snow on them and the lower strings just have dirty snow.  or whatever.

the completely decorated tree!

And admiring the tree from the sofa.

Following this, we decorated the house a little bit and then ordered a pizza and wings.  the new tree took about twice as long to get it up and it used to take us to do ALL the decorating of the house.

But hey, at least it's done.  Yay, for Christmas decorations and Mama Polt's help!
