I feel the need to be naked with you (Part 39)...

Once more, it's time for...

This week, the Great And Mighty Os instructed us to take our favorite HNT photo from this past year and re-post it. I went back through all the ones I posted, and it turns out the one that I liked the best is also apparently the one you guys liked best as well, cause it got the most comments of any HNT photo of mine: 23. (well actually, it tied with the photo of my feet up on the messy coffee table, but I'm still posting this one instead of that one).

I like this cause not only does it have Superman in it, but the lighting, and the way my chin rests on my shoulder, to me, looks somewhat artistic. Which I assure you, was not my intent, it was purely by accident. nonetheless, I think this is my favorite one.

If you want to see what other people thought was their best HNT photo, click on the HNT button in my sidebar!

Just like everyone, he's got a ford...

So, President Ford died yesterday.

1913-2006

At the age of 93, 165 days, beating out Reagan by about a month and a half. I'm old enough to remember Ford in office, but just barely. And my first, and only, memory of him is not a pleasant one. The Bionic Woman was on TV Wedensdays at 9:00, and they were going to show the second part of a two-parter this particular Wednesday. Except they didn't cause President Ford preempted it for a speech from the Oval Office. Oh, was I PISSED! i remember stomping around the house all pissed off cuase he was talking when they should have been showing the Bionic Woman instead! How dare he! I remember screaming at the TV screen for him to hurry up! I remember about 945, realizing there wasn't time left to show the Bionic Woman, and crying cause I'd have to wait until next week. I was 7 or 8 years old.

Maybe that one episdoe is what started myt dislike of Republicans and made me a Democrat!

Cooking MC's like a pound of bacon...

Last night, I was so sleepy, I turned off the light at 900 pm. Now I was awoken at about 930, 1000, and 1100 with phone calls, but I went right back to sleep with no problems. And what time do you think I got up today? Try 1030 am. yeppers, I slept (more or less) uninterupted for 13 and a half hours! WHo knew i was that tired?

Personally, I blame Mama Polt. Why is that? Cause her Christmas meal was SO damn good, I couldn't help but eat too much of it...and then HAD to have a turkey sandwich for supper that night. I had a full tummy and lethal levels of triptaline (or whatever that sleepy stuff is in turkey) I don't think there was anyway I could avoid going to sleep early and for a long time.

Anyways, I got some various and sundry photos I want to show you all now.

This is the spread Mama Polt put on for Christmas: turkey, mashed potatos, sweet potatos, stuffing and gravy, corn, sauer kraut, limas, rolls, and then for dessert she had fruit salad, homemade apple pie, ice cream, etc, etc, etc. Yeah, see how I HAD to eat too much?

Mama Polt also LOVES to make Christmas treats. She makes so much of it, she gives batches of it away. What you see in this photo is the three batches I took to work last Tuesday. Inside are sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and several other kinds; fudge of the peanut butter, chocolate and vanilla varieties; and peanut brittle in the bags. Despite three different batches, it was all gone by the time I got to work Wednesday morning (in fact, it was mostly gone when i left work Tuesday). My co-workers jsut gobble it up. Course, it IS really good. I always tell her when she retires, she outta start Mama Polt's Homemade Cooking, and charge for the sweets. I guarantee she'd never be at a loss for buyers!

This is Johnnie on Sunday night, in the fetal position and hiding his face because his 49er's lost and were eliminated from playoff contention. I'll not rag on him about it now, cause last night, my Cowboys played like a JV team....a bad JV team....at a school for the blind. I mean it was horrible. And frankly, if they're only gonna play this good, they don't deserve to win the division. Now, I have to hope they'll beat Detroit (not a forgone conclusion with the way they've been playing) and that Atlanta beats Philly so Dallas can get a home game. At least, they've already made the playoffs, so they're not fighting for a spot there. BUt it's bad. And sad.

And next year, I want my Christmas tree delivered this way, by this guy!

Happy Boxing Day!!! (sure...okay....)

1. What is your all-time favorite gift (whether given or received by you)? Well, my king sized bed was pretty freakin nice!
2. Where was the first place you ever passionately kissed? On the lips? (Ba-dum-BUM!) Ya know, honestly, I don't remember...
3. Where was the first place you ever had sex? In my friend Kirsten's waterbed...with my friend Kirsten.
4. Have you ever had sex in your parent's home? Several times.
5. Have you ever met anyone in person that you met via your blog? Have you ever kissed anyone you met via your blog? Have you ever done more? I've met people from online, I've kissed people I met online, and I've had sex with people I've met online (in fact, I met my current beau Freddie online), but never someone I met solely through my blog.
Bonus (as in optional): Since it is the last TMI Tuesday of the years volunteer some TMI. [Sorry but it is 3am and I don't have a thought left in my pretty little head.) God, I have to come up with a question? Um, Coke or Pepsi? there, that's a quick one.

Meet your family, fulfill your every dream...

Saturday evening, my family had our family Christmas! Well, three fourths of the family had it, because two fourths of them do not get along with one fourth of them since Pap died in 1998. My mom, luckily, remined neutral in all the stupid infighting, and so did I, thusly, we're welcome with ALL the other three branches of the family. but enough of my family's drama....

Last night we got together to eath, socialize, hang out, exchange gifts and have a good time. We get together as a group at Christmas, and Easter, and some weddings, and most funerals. Oh and thanksgiving, that's probably the ONLY time all four branches of the family are together, but anyway, ALL of this is kinda outside of what I wanted to post about.

So, anyway, as mentioned, last night, there was eating, socializing, hanging out, exchanging of gifts, good times and fun. And I've got PHOTOS!

These two fine examples of young American teenager-ism (?) are my cousins Kyle (14) and Zack (17). I mentioned them and had some photos of Thanksgiving of them, but I have much more this time. And this is while we're all eating. We had ham, for sandwiches or just by itself, chips, deviled eggs (one batch made by yer olde Uncle Polt himself), mac and cheese, scalloped potatoes, bologna and cheese, some fruits and small veggies for dipping and sodas, along with a HORDE of homemade deserts. In the photo, no, Kyle is NOT having anything alcoholic to drink, that's just Pepsi.

After the meal, some of us retired to the living room to allow the food to digest while some others retired to the kitchen to clean up. one guess which room Uncle Polt was in! At any rate, I got this one of Zack sitting on the sofa opposite me.

And Zach again. These photos may not reveal it, cause they're not the best, but Zack is turning into quite the cutie. I mean, he's always been "little boy" or "puppy dog" cute, but as he's grown, especially in the last year or so, it's becoming obvious he's gonna be quite an attractive young man. What a heart breaker.

this would be Kyle holding my lil cousin Tereek (he's 3). And he's hell on wheels. i mean, he's incredibly full of energy, and totally curious and rambunctious, which is to be expected of a 3 year old boy. unfortunately, he gets NO discipline from his mother. he basically runs wild until his mom's father disciplines him. Although he does listen to Zack and Kyle quite well, which is surprising, but at least it works. And no, Tereek, is NOT sleeping or even sleepy. Soon after this photo, he ended up scratching my cousin Lexi across her neck with his fingernails as he wrestled with her and she tried to get away. *SIGH*

I managed to dictract Tereek for a bit with my camera. I took a few photos. Also, when my camera's taking photos, a small round section comes out, it's the zoom. he asked what it was. I told him there's a little man who lives in the camera, and when i take a picture, he sits out in that little round area and draws it really fast and then puts it on the screen in the back. He looked at me all round eyed and trusting. I even had him look inside the lens from the front side to see if he could see the little man sitting in there, and he said he did. He believed every word. ....I am SO going to hell...

This is my little cousin Lexi. She was posing for me and decided to twirl a bit, thus I got her twirling.

I bring a Santa hat each to wear, but this I forgot it. My uncle had gotten a Penn State Santa hat for my cousin Brian, so Brian wore it to hand out the gifts. Unfortunately, it was a smidge too large, as can be seen here.

My cousin Cory (he's 8) and some little duck/penguin thing he got for Christmas.

This was taken in between the openings of some gifts. It is Kyle taking a picture of me taking a picture of him. Yeah, we're real artistic in my family.

This would be Zack once more, kinda zoning out while someone else opens thier gifts.

My cousin Tim, he's a Redskins fan...but we accept in the family anyway. We're a very accepting family. My uncle got him a Redskins Santa hat this year, that he wore to open the rest of his gifts.

My cousin Brian again, but this time without the too-big Santa hat.

This would be Grandma Polt, God love her. She's about 83 or so, but still lives alone and gets around well. We all had a good laugh, cause she gave each of us an envelope with $25 dollars in it. Well except for Brian, who she didn't have an envelope for, she ran out. And then when my aunt Carolyn opened her envelope, well, there was no money in it. geez, did we laugh about all that. But considering her age, Grandma Polt's doing pretty well, I think.

this is Zack next to Mama Polt, who's holding the newest member of our family: Jay. he was born December 5. He didn't fuss much, just slept and ate. He's a good baby...so far.

And this would be your Uncle Polt proudly holding Jay.

And finally, I wanted to get a photos with the boys before I left. I had Mama Polt take the photo. And Corey decided to be a ham, somewhat obscuring Zack's face, Mama Polt said, so she wanted to take another one.

So this is the second shot. Naturally, that's Corey in the front, and Me in the back center. Zack is on the left, Kyle on the right. And yes, even though being taller by about three inches, Kyle is only 14. He's a freak of nature. But a nice freak of nature, as they go.

Anyway, as I hope is apparent, we all gorged outselves, and laughed and got gifts, and just had fun. Course, I didn't mention the tantrums, the gossiping, the spankings, someone getting smacking the head with a plastic gun, the ornaments pulled off the tree, and other related issues.

But, I gotta say, despite the drama and other...issues, I by and large DO like my family. And we all more or less get along...but of course, we're not together like this very often, which is probably our saving grace.

It's that time of year, Christmas is here...

Christmas Meme....

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate, DEFINATELY!
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Gotta be wrapped! It's not Christmas without wrapped gifts!
3. Colored lights on tree/house or clear? I generally prefer the white lights only...which is rather strange, considering the rest of the tree looks like a rainbow threw up on it.
4. Do you hang mistletoe? Only from my belt buckle. WHOA-HO! thanks, thanks, I'll be here all week! Don't forget to tip your waiters!
5. When do you put your decorations up? Generally, i try to do it the first weekend of December.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding desserts)? i don't have a specific dish, but Mama Polt's Christmas meal makes my mouth water ANYtime of year i think of it.
7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Every year, when we put the tree up, we had the camera there to take pictures, and every year, without fail, I'd get a pciture of my dad's ass when he bent over for something, and every year, without fail, he's yell at me for it, and every year without fail, mom and I would laugh ourselves silly about it all.
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? Pretty early, actually. We didn't have a chimney, so that's what started my questions, including how we could go to two different malls in the same day and have Santa at each.
9. Do you open gifts on Christmas Eve? Nope, Santa brings the gifts after the kids go to bed, you can't open a gift before Santa brings them!
10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? badly. With rainbow blanket at it's foot, rainbow star at it's top, rainbow garland, rainbow glass ornaments, and white lights (see #3).
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Love it! bring it on! The more the merrier, cause the more, the greater the chance I have for an excuse not to go to work!
12. Can you ice skate? Not to save my life.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift as a kid? I really don't have one gift that sticks out at particularly memorable.
14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Getting together with family and just hanging out with people you used to see all the time, but now only see a few times a year.
15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? I'm usually too full for desert...how about Mama Polt's Homemade Peanut Brittle.
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Writing the Christmas cards on Thanksgiving while watching the Dallas Cowboys game, and mailing them so most people get them December 1st.
17. What tops your tree? A rainbow star.
18. Which do you prefer---giving or receiving?
Isn't that a bit personal? Either way, i think giving is better.
19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Santa Baby as sung by Eartha Kitt. Or maybe Ave Maria, if that's a Christmas Song.
20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum? Yummy!
21. Stockings? Or no Stockings? No stockings...never had a chimney to hang them by.
22. Do you like sledding? Love it! Well, the riding down part anyway...not so much the walking back up the hill dragging the sled.
23. Farthest you've traveled for Christmas day? Never outside of town, all my immediate family lives within a half hour of me.
24. Do you leave out cookies or carrots for when Santa comes? As a kid I did, now I just eat them myself.
25. What gets you into the holiday spirit? Sometimes, the Christmas carding; sometimes watching "The Year Without A Santa Claus"; sometimes snow.
26. Does your wrapping colour coordinate? my clothes dont' even color coordinate, why would I worry about my wrapping?
27. Favourite gift you've ever given? I don't really have any one.
28. Most fun holiday memory?
The year it snowed on Christmas, and after the opening of the gifts, and the Christmas meal, we went sledding!
29. Do you wrap your own gifts? Yes, but horribly. I never have to put who my gifts are from, they're so badly wrapped, everyone knows.
30. Most missed memory from childhood? The excitement of walking into the room and seeing all the wrapped gifts under the tree for the first time!

This week, Os gave us another theme: Christmas presents. Since it can be hectic during this time of year to get a HNT photo, he's decided that this week, instead of a photo of ourself, we're supposed to pick three other HNT'ers and tell them what we'd get them for Christmas, taking a photo of it, if possible.

1) The Persian (who just recently and most unfortunately, put his blog on hiatus): My gift to him would be twofold. firstly, I'd give him peace in the Middle East, and then I'd give him a plane ticket to Iran, so he can fly there and safely research his geneology there. Hopefully he could even meet members of his family from waaaay back.

2) Ryan, from Boys Are Ugly But So Cute. What I'd give him is perfect health, not to insiuate he's not in perfect health now, but I'd get rid of his ear problems, and his diabetes, and any other health problems he may have, so that they no longer bother him. Also, I'd arrange so Mikey could move to Atlanta now, thus allowing them both to be happy and together.

3) Moonspells hasn't participated in HNT in a little bit, but she used to. my gift to her would be time. She has been going through a rough patch lately, and with time, she'll get over it and move on, I just want to help her do that, to avoid all that bad stuff she's experiencing now, and get right onto the good stuff that awaits her in the future!

Also, to them and to ALL other HNT'ers and any one, actually, who visits the Palace, I wish all the good fortune, happiness and fun the holidays can bring you!

HAPPY HNT!!!

With the wad he’s got, this he hit the jackpot..

At work, every football season, we have a Winner's Betting Pool. Everyone playing puts in 10 bucks, and each week you pick a team you expect to win. If they do, you move onto the next week, if not, you're out. And you can't pick the same team twice. Well, this year, I, and I lot of others, got kicked out relatively early. So, 8 weeks ago, we started a second one, only this one was a Loser's Pool, each team you picked had to lose.

40 of us started, and last week, there were only 4 left. This week, another one got kicked out, leaving just three of us. We all three were asked if we wanted to split it three ways or keep going. Frankly, I wanted $400 dollars, but thought, with my luck, if I'm greedy and try to keep going, next week my team will lose. So I went with the other two and we split it. I guess $133 is better than none, anyday.

It was nice to finally win, and that $133 will certainly come in handy, but in the end, with all the Pool's I entered and lost, I'm probably just breaking even with this. Oh well, I'll just be happy with my good fortune, not look a gift horse in the mouth and move on.

Whatcha gonna do with all that junk up in your trunk...

This morning, it finally turned cold. It was like 29 degrees on the way to work, yay! When i got to the car this morning, I saw that the windshield was all iced over, happens sometimes, but I just HATE scraping ice. So instead last year I bought a bottle of de-icer. Didn't use it too much last year, and when it got warmer, I put it in the trunk...where its' been rolling around back and forth ever since, causing me a minor irritation (but not a large enough one to put it elsewhere).

At any rate, I opened the passanger's door and put my briefcase in on the front seat. then I went back to the trunk and popped it open with the automatic opener. As I pushed the trunk lid up, I looked in and saw the bottle of de-icer laying about halfway back in the trunk. And I reached in to get it...

Allow me to pause me story here to say that the trunk on my last car (that I got rid of back in January of 2004) had a trunk that when you opened it, it popped right up as far as it went and stayed roughly vertical until you pushed it back down. Naturally, it was a bit smaller lid, as that car was a VW Jetta and I'm now driving a Chrysler Concorde. I have opened my current car's trunk before on numerous occasions, but I guess I kinda thought it operated just like the other car. Or maybe I wasn't thinking about it at all. Or maybe I just misjudged how far up I had pushed the lid. Or maybe I had pushed it up far enough, but it was heavier and came back down a bit. And I WAS concentrating solely on getting the bottle of de-icer. Having explained that, let's resume our tale.

...and proceeded to slam my head squarely into the trunk lid. And not just a love tap, oh NO! I hit it so hard I saw stars. So hard I thought I might puke. Or maybe pass out. I had to turn around and sit down on the bumper. I mean it was THAT hard! I'm not sure how long i sat there, rubbing my head and breathing deeply, to let everything pass, and the drums pounding in my head to stop...but I'll say ten minutes wouldn't be out of the question.

I kept putting my hand to my head there and looking at my hand to see if there was any blood, which thankfully there wasn't. And as far as I can see, it not even swelling, go figure that. I did eventually get the de-icer and clear off the windshield and then get to work. And considering how the morning started, my day went pretty well.

Moral of the story: Never assume the lid is up enough when you're checking a trunk, cause you might get smacked upside the head.

With a passion not contested...

Interesting tidbit I found online today:

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton beats John McCain and ties Rudolph Giuliani in a new Newsweek national poll, a stunning counterpoint to recent surveys showing the former first lady trailing the GOP's dueling presidential frontrunners.

The poll, taken earlier this month, shows Clinton besting McCain 50 to 43 percent among 1,000 registered voters nationwide. It also showed her in a dead heat with McCain among independents, a group that has proven stubbornly resistant to her centrist message. Clinton leads Giuliani -- her onetime Senate nemesis -- by a 48 to 47 margin, a technical tie that falls within the poll's 4 percent margin of error.

Clinton came within a hair's breadth of renouncing her October 2002 vote authorizing the Iraq invasion Monday, telling NBC "Today" show anchor Meredith Vieira that she wouldn't have voted yes if President George W. Bush had leveled with the American people about Saddam Hussein's limited weapons arsenal."If we knew then what we know now there certainly wouldn't have been a vote and I wouldn't have voted that way," said Clinton, who has been working the TV chat circuit promoting the 10th anniversary reissue of her book, "It Takes a Village."

The Newsweek numbers on the head-to-head presidential matchups were not publicized by the magazine. They appeared in a press release on the magazine's Web site but weren't included in a Clinton-Barack Obama cover story, which focused on whether Americans were receptive to black or female presidential candidates. A Newsweek editor said the poll matchups were not pertinent to the cover story.

Newsweek's poll showed Clinton, who has hinted she'll announce White House plans early next year, with a healthy 50-to-32 percent lead over Obama in a potential primary matchup among Democrats.

Course, it IS still 22 months until the election...waaaay too soon for these polls to mean anything. but its very interesting nonetheless, eh?

Sex is one of the three best things we have, and I don't know the other two. - Helen Gurley Brown

He said remember the christmas spirit now...

As I posted earlier, I just haven't been in the Christmas spirit lately, what with it being so warm, and having already exchanged some gifts, and not knowing what to buy, and all sorta stuff like that. Well something happened today that changed all that.

I was running late for work (just imagine!) so i didn't pack lunch, figuring I'd just go out and get something. And as the morning wore on, I found I had the hankering for a Big Mac. So at lunch, I ventured out to the closest McDonald's, which just happens to be in a shopping center. it is, of course, less than a week to Christmas, so when i got to the shopping center it was, naturally packed. And so was the McDonalds. The drive thru line was backed up, and it looked a bit crowded inside, but I figured, at least inside, there are several different registers to go to. So I found a parking space and went in.

I got in the shortest line I found...but was still the fifth person in line. And as I got there, I discovered the lady that was first in my line did not have a very strong command of the English language. Not so surprisingly, the girl behind the counter did not either. And unfortunately, neither of them spoke the language of the other. So it was the customer speak...something andthe employee, speaking Spanish, both trying to get an order done in English.

Finally, after about 6 minutes or so, they had the order completed, and the woman's bill came out to $14 exactly. how that happened, I have no idea, go figure. The customer opens her purse to pay and decides to do so in just $1 bills. After slowly counting them out, one assumes to make sure she's being accurate, it turns out she only has 8 bills. Reaching back into her purse, she pulls out a little change purse, dumps it on the counter and decides to pay the remainder in change....small change....virtually no quarters, from what i could tell. And, as with the bills, she does this slowly, one again assumes to ensure accuracy.

I should add that by this time I, and the two people in front of me have moved to other lines. Our spaces were soon filled by other unwary victims who had no idea what was taking place at the front and just saw a short line. Why the guy behind her hadn't moved, I don't know. Maybe he didn't see the shorter lines? maybe he had more time invested in that line? Maybe he wanted to hit on the Mexican register girl, who knows?

At any rate, when the customer had finished counting her change, she only had $5.43 cents (or something similar). She looked up to the register girl and started to attempt to explain something to her.

And then, from behind her, the man that still remain in the line said,

"Oh my FUCKING God! Take my FUCKING dollar and get the FUCK OUT of my line!"

Said? no, actually he yelled it. i think people in the drive thru heard him. And with that he threw a dollar on the counter.

And then, as if hit with an epiphany, as if divine light shone down upon me from on high, and cherubs circled me playing on thier harps, I suddenly remembered what Christmas was all about! It was just like what I had just witnessed...someone with plenty generously giving to those less fortunate. And I was filled with peace and joy and love for my fellow man. Mainly cause I was now at the counter and had just given my order.

Course, a twenty five degree drop in the temperature would sure help things along too.

Too much information for my head (Part 20)...

As I do every week, I get these from http://tmituesday.blogspot.com/

1. Is it better to give or receive? Hmm, well, whether we're talking about Christmas gifts or sex, I think it's all the same: 'Tis better to give, than to recieve.
2. What is the most sensitive part on a man/woman's body? Depends on the man/woman. I know guys' who's nipples are their most errogenous zone on thier bodies, other it's thier earlobes, and yet others it's the underside of the penis, right below the head. It truly depends, and trying to find out what part it is on a new guy is ALWAYS part of the fun of sex!
3. What is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you during sex? (Queefed? Family walked in? Couldn't get it up?) The most embarrassing for me was when I was in my teens and was getting it on with a neighborhood guy a year younger than me, in my bedroom on a summer afternoon. I was on my knees between the other guy's legs, as he was lying on the bed. Suddenly, the door opened and there stood my 5 year old cousin. There was a lot of gasping and jumping around from us. But when i saw she didn't really comprehend what was going on, I pulled myself together and walked her back downstairs. Needless to say, neither the other guy nor I were in mood then either.
4. Do you like to talk dirty during sex? How dirty does it get? Example! ;) It doesn't normally get dirty, but I if I'm really worked up, and what he's doing is particularly stimulating, well...let's say, at one point, when Freddie was working his magic, I MAY have mumbled, "You're my little bitch, you know that? You like don'tcha? Dontcha bitch?" Or something to that extent.
5. What do you really want for Christmas? Vibrator? Spanking? I've had vibrators and spankings...what I really want this year is to have my car loan and my credit card paid off. Anyone have $10,000 laying around the house they're not gonna use?
Bonus (as in optional): How often do you masturbate? I "discovered" masturbation when I was eleven, and ever since I've masturbated at least once a day. There were a few stretches when i was ill with the flu, or had a tooth pulled and didn't feel like it, but otherwise, even today (and I'm almost 40) I still do it usually once a day. Everyone's gotta have a habit, ya know?

Music makes the people come together...

I've discovered on my iTunes, there's this 'radio' option. When it's chosen, it gives you a list of genre, and then each genre has a rather long list of online streaming music stations. And it's free (to my knowledge. If not, I'm racking up a pretty huge debt of money!). I've been on this Electronica station that plays tons of songs I like, some I've heard, most I haven't. And it's commerical free, for the most part. And no stupid DJ's talking instead of playing songs! I LOVE it! because of this, I've only reloaded about 6 CD's to my iTunes...I don't need my iPod with this...although I do want to use it elsewhere, so i need to get back to doing that, but for now, I'm happy with this.

Also, there a radio station at 92.1 on the dial around here. It used to be a fairly good station, so I programmed it into one of my car's buttons. Then, it's format changed to Top40, which meant I didn't listen to much of the music on it. Although, I kept it programmed in so that if nothing else was on the regular stations I listen to, I could go there, and maybe there's be something on.

Well, a few months back they changed formats again, this time to Classic Country. I never got around to changing it in my car, but I pretty much just ignored the button. Until, by accident a few weeks ago, I pushed the button. And they were playing a Patsy Cline song. I think she has an incredible voice, so I kept it there and listened. And sang along. And then after her, came Johnny Cash and the Ring of Fire. And after him was...well i don't remember who, but as I was pulling my car into my space, I was singing with Jeannie C. Reilly to "Harper Valley PTA."

I don't really like country music...at least not the stuff they call country music now. But in the 70's, when i was growing up, that's all I heard around the house, cause that's all mom and dad listened to. So I know all those old country songs. And really, i don't mind the music of Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, and the like. So now I check out the station and enjoy some older Country Classic.

Although, it bothers me that I know ALL the lyrics to these songs I haven't heard in 30 years, but I couldn't tell you what I had for supper last night. Guess that's the price of getting old.

I don't wanna grow up, I'm a Toys'R'us kid....

I copied this from Tornwordo who got it from Lightning Bug's Butt. With minor modifications, it pretty much sums my thoughts in total. And there's no way I could write it any better. So with all due credit to Tornwordo and LBB, I give you the following:

I stopped maturing at 12. Other than taking an interest in the opposite (ahem, same) sex [yeah, same sex for me too], I haven't changed since childhood. As a teen and then as a young adult, I assumed one day the aging process would instill a decent work ethic and a sense of responsibility. I figured a codified adult mentality would “kick-in” at some point. I'm in my mid-30s (I'm 41!) [I'm not quite 40] and I'm still waiting. My biggest priorities are still: sleeping in, dodging work and responsibility, watching TV, surfing the Net, scoring good meals and dessert, playing games, working out, hanging out, wasting time and doing as little as possible [not so much the working out part, but for all of the rest, yeppers, me too!] . No joke, people. Honest Indian. Mind you, I don't just long to do these things. I actually DO them. I've worked part-time most of my adult life, including my present job [the majority of the jobs I've had have been part-time, but I've been at my full time job for a bit over 10 years]. I still watch cartoons. I still eat candy. I still play with toys. I still contemplate what I want to be when I grow older. Between leisure time and a chance to earn more money, I'll take leisure every damn time. I've tried, but I can't give a damn about adult stuff. Who gives a shit about careers, productivity, mortgages and retirement funds, really? Fuck that shit.

Fuck that shit, indeed! i couldn't have put it any more elloquently or succinctly.

The games that they play, down in L.A....

As I may have mentioned before, every other Sunday I have a regular engagement. I go to my friend's house and a group of us play Dungeons & Dragons. I've been roleplaying on and off since 8th grade, which would be about 1982 or so. Not always D&D, though. There's been the superhero games of Villians & Vigilantes, and the HERO system. there's been the Vampire: The Masquerade game. There's been the cross-genre TORG. And there's been many different version of D&D.

I first played in my friend, George's, game group back in the summer of 1992, and played regularly every other Sunday until the spring of 2000. I took a break, and ended up getting a parttime job at Borders where I had to work every Sunday. the gaming group kept going on without me. When I quit Borders in 2003, I rejoined the group that summer and have been with them ever since.

This particular group has seven regular members. The members of the group have..nicknames that we've had since we play back in the mi-90s. My name is Polt, naturally. George's is The Stranger. His wife, Brenda, is the Laughing Lynx. And my friend Chris is Phoenix (I've mentioned him numerous times before as well). These names were garnered from a number of sources some before we even started playing together. but when we'd log onto The Stranger's BBS back then, those were the names we used, so they kinda stuck. The three newer members have no codenames, as the BBS system was gone when they started.

The newer members are The Stranger's and Lynx's daughter Sophia; and the 'couple' Jerome and Goldie. the seven of us have more or less been together since I rejoined, although Goldie joined after me.

There have, in my memory, been many other players that no longer do. There's Dennis, Alex, Bird, Conrad, Tanda,Mechaman, Bandit, Kenny, Johnnie (yes, my friend Johnnie is Philly I know from there), another George, Lane, Stephanie, Michael, John, and Desiree. Man, until I just typed them all out, I had forgotten about some of them, or the amount of ex-players that I've played with.

At any rate, each game, I record some of the stupid/funny stuff we say during the games, and call them Gamelines. I thought, after each session, when i got home, I post a few here. Most of them, unless you're in the game, you're not gonna "get" them, but some might be universally funny, and those are the ones I'll try to post.

Also, so as to make things a bit easier to follow, I've found icons for the seven of us!

There is, of course, Ye Olde Uncle Polt himself.

And George AKA The Stranger.

His wife the Lafing Lynx

And my buddy Phoenix.

Sophia doesn't have a nickname, but she LOVES this Sailor Moon character and anime in general, so this one seemed appropriate.

Jerome doesn't have a nickname either, but I found a photo of St. Jerome, and to have our Jerome represented by a saint is just too ironic for words! So I'll be using this one.

And Goldie, as reprented by Goldie Hawn, in her bubble-headed blonde phase. And yes, this is appropriate for our Goldie as well.

And now, onto the Gamelines for Dec 17, 2006:
"Is it a flame tongue?" "I have a flame tongue." - Asher, the dragon
Just ignore the wrinkle in the space/time continuum. - George
I killed two and a half! - Ciarra, the pixie
"There's mannequins?" "NO, Goldie, manacles!"
"He falls." "Aw." "Why aw?" "I had more attacks left." - Ciarra
We had a rousing good fight with those monkey things! - Raoulet
You're NOT breathing fire in a room full of poo! - Raoulet
Does anyone have a See Through Poo spell?

Tomorrow is won, by winning me...

The Dallas Cowboys beat the Atlanta Falcons tonight, 38-28.

Oh it wasn't pretty, it was real ugly, but it was a win. That means Dallas goes to 9-5, but even more so, it guarantees them a Playoff spot. If they win thier last two, or lose some with the right losses by both Philadelphia and the New York Giants, Dallas would win their division. At the worst, they'd get a wildcard spot, but at any rate, they're now in the playoffs. And more good news is that the Washington Redskins have absolutely zero possibility of making the playoffs. hehehehehe.....makes me giggle like a schoolgirl.
