Their selling point, the focus for their new campaign...

As regular readers know, I've not had too many good things to say about John McCain. But in this post, at least, that will change.

I'm not sure if you've heard about this or not, but Republicans in North Carolina had made a TV ad resorting to tried and true Republican tactics: trying to say Obama's not a good candidate or a good American using clips of the Rev. Wright.

John McCain, or someone in his campaign, sent a letter to the state party and asked them not to run the ad. I didn't get the actual reasons listed in the request, but perhaps John McCain wants to have an election based on issues and ideas and not propoganda and made-up side tangents that don't mean a damn thing. Perhaps, he was wants to have an elections that deals with the difference in the candidates positions and not in distractions.

I don't know why he wrote it, but it demonstrates quite clearly why I always said he was the least objectionable of the Republican candidates. Course, when you're running against Rudy "911911911911911" Guiliani, Mitt "The Iraq War is so important, I'm keeping my sons here at home to run my presidential campaign instead of sending them in to fight it" Romeny and Mike "Just slightly to the right of Jerry Falwell" Huckabee, it's not difficult to be the least objectionable of that bunch. And it shows why, had he gotten the nomination against Gore in 2000, I would have voted for McCain.

We'll have to see if he and his campaign maintain this kind of issues-oriented election going, or if they resort to the typical Rovian, Republican tactics once the generel election starts. I sincerely hope it's the former.

Then read it in the headlines, watch it on TV....

I do have to laugh at the media covering the election.

"Hillary closes the gap" - she netted three more delegates than Obama, with three total left to find out who get them. Even if it all goes her way, a 6 delegate increase, out of 158 eligible and with him having a lead of roughly 130 or so delegeates now, is not really something to be crowing about.

"Hillary wins BIG!" - With a 55-45 percent win, a 10 point sounds big...until you recall that 6 weeks ago, her lead was by 26 points. THAT would have been a BIG win. A ten point margin, well, how many of those has Obama had?

"Hillary gets avalanche of money with PA win" - The figure I saw tonight was that in the two days since her win, she has gotten 1 million dollars. Okay, sounds good. On that pace, she'll make 15 million in a month, which sounds good too...until you realize in March Obama raised 40 million. In March, Hillary herself raised about 21 million. In addition, looking at the finances right now, Obama's campaign has 42million on hand. Hillary's campaign has 9 million on hand, and is 10 million in debt. So this 1 million over the last two days will get her breaking even, which is decidedly good. But remember, Obama's STILL got that 42 million on hand. Were these recent contributions really an 'avalanche'?

I do have to laugh. I don't know if it's because the media prefers Hillary to Obama, or just wants to make a bigger story than there really is. I believe it's the latter.

But with just a handful of primaries left (NC, IND, KEN, WV, OR, MON, SD, PR), and some of these states Obama is way ahead in, is there any way she can realistically win? How can she get her delegates, popular votes, or number of states won to even equal Obama's, much less surpass him?

Yes, mathematically, she still has a chance. But the real question is, realistically, how much of a chance does she have?

This past Tuesday was the primary election in Pennsylvania. Uncle Polt ALWAYS votes. I've been eligible to vote since the spring of 1986, and I've only ever missed one, an off year primary election. At any rate, when I voted, I snuck my camera in with me for this week's HNT:

Think of you again, someone was wearing your cologne...

On one of my first trips to Toronto, I met an adorable 19 year old named Baker (or at least that's what he TOLD me his name was). He was half Hispanic, half Italian. Small, tight twinkie boy body, with dyed blonde hair cut short on the sides, but long on the top, so it could hand down, or be pulled back into a ponytail (I saw it both ways). He had a chipped front tooth that he got a few years back by falling off a skateboard. He was going to university for communications. He wore a pair of small round glasses, not because he needed them, but because he thought they made him look smarter. He was making an attempt at a goatee, but he was naturally non-hairy, so it wasn't a very good attempt, but endearing nonetheless. He was bi-sexual, had had boyfriends in the past, currently had a girlfriend who was bisexual too. They both fooled around with members of their own sex occasionally.

I spoke to him on two consecutive days, making out with him both times, but never getting to go any further. He was wearing the same cologne both times. When asked he said he was wearing "Le Male, by Jean-Paul Gautier". The next day, I went to the Eaton Centre and bought myself a bottle. I have since gone through two more bottles and am nearly through the fourth one.

And strangely, when I wear it, I don't feel like either Baker or the guy in the ad. And I fail to attract guys like Baker or the guy in the ad. Must not work as well on me as it did on Baker.

I noticed how several talking heads were saying that only McCain is the winner because of all the damage the Democrats are doing to each other. Bearing in mind that the Republicans really had nothing to come out and vote for, and the Democrats had everything to come out and vote for, I found it interesting that the totals were approximately 2.25 million votes cast for Democrats and less than 800,000 votes cast for Republicans. Over 1.4 million more votes cast for a Democrat than for a Republican does not bode well for McCain in the fall.

Only saw my mother's hand, the things i've earned...

I was just going through all my photos in my computer here, and I discovered these. Most are from last year, October and November I think. I meant to post about them then, but, well....I lost the photos in all the porn I have here. (oh don't judge...like YOU never look at porn online)

Anyway, here they are now, half a year later.

One day in October, before dad died, mom and I went to a local apple orchard to pick out some apples. She wanted to make some pies, or some such junk, I don't know. All I remember is she got two bushels of one kind and one bushel of another kind. Come to think of it, that's quite a few apple pies there, so it was probably just a supply for the winter. At any rate, the orchard had them set out in these big huge crates. Mom went picking through them looking for ones she wanted. Some of the crates were kinda empty, and she had to like hang herself over the side to reach them. i thought for sure she'd fall in, but she didn't. These are those crates.

And these are some of the apples we took home.

After dad died, mom got rid of the TV he had wanted a large screen monstrosity. She wanted "one of those new flat screen or plasma screen or whatever they're called". So she saw Wal-Mart had one on sale, and one Sunday, we went there and she bought one. This is her new falt screen tv.

And one day, right before Thanksgiving, mom was baking (like she does ALL the time), she made this huge sugar cookie. I think it was for some Church function or the other. but it was HUGE!

And I didn't even get to taste any of it.

Losing control, primary resistance at a critical low...

Today is the primary election in Pennsylvania, and it's somewhat bittersweet for me. Starting in 1989, until last year, I worked the polls each and every election. Twice a year for 18 years. 15 of those years as Judge Of Elections for my precinct. But last fall, I decided I had had enough, and I resigned the post. It was just time. I was tired getting up at 6:00 am, not getting back from the courthouse until after 11:00pm or so. I was tired of getting home and having the elections already decided and not getting to watch any returns come in. So I resigned. And I'm glad I did.

Although, now that it's here. I miss it. I think I miss the thought of doing it rather than actually missing it. But whatever, they've got a new Judge and moved on and so shall I.

**********************************

After work, I went to my grandmother's house. I was taking her to her election place to vote. I got her registered in 1992 so she could vote for Bill Clinton. And she's voted in every presidential election since then. But this year, at the age of 85, she was going to vote in her very first primary election.

See, Pennsylvania's primary is always so late that by the time ours rolls around, the candidates have always been decided (kinda like McCain this year). This is the first year, in my memory, where the Pennsylvania primary still mattered. And its the first one she's wanted to vote in.

So as we were driving there, she said, "Polt, I've never voted in a primary, I'm not sure what to do." I told her all she had to do was just color in the circle for who she wanted for president. And then for the other offices, she'd just color in as many as she was allowed to under-. And that's when she cut me off. "Well I don't have to vote for any of the other people do I? I just want to vote for the president." And I told her that was fine.

She's got arthritis, so she can't hold a pen terribly well, but she did to sign in and to vote. And she gets out of breath going stairs, but we took the stairs to get in to the voting place, stopping halfway for her to get her breath and laugh a bit and being out of breath. (We didn't see the ramp on the other side until we were leaving. We left that way, and that was much better).

She came out and handed her ballot to the lady there, but they dropped it. I picked it up for them (neither were terribly spry) and as I handed it to the lady, I saw grandma had voted for Hillary. I smiled. I figured she would.

As we were walking to the car, she said, "Well, I bet pap's watching me and smiling." I told her i bet he was too. Pap died in December 1998. As I was driving her home, she chuckled and said, "The first time I voted, it was for Bill Clinton. The first time I voted in a primary, it was for Hillary Clinton. I wonder if I'll be around to vote for that daughter of thiers." And we both laughed, God bless her soul.

You made my day, you came my way...

This morning, I managed to get up in time to wash my dishes, remove a lot of the unnessecary reading material stacked in the bathroom, shower and dress in time for the cleaning lady to get here. It was good I didn't dawdle, as the cleaning lady (whom I'll hereon out call Lisa because 1. it's shorter than typing 'cleaning lady' all the time, and 2. it's her name) got here a half hour early.

I showed her the kitchen and bathroom. She said it was no big deal, wouldn't be difficult at all. All she wanted was $45 for both rooms total! No way was that enough. She wouldn't let me give her anything more than $50 though. So that's what I paid her.

We headed out to the Dollar Store to buy some bleach and other cleaning stuff, which I of course paid for. Then, as it was lunchtime, I drove through Burger King for a meal. I offered to buy her something too, but she declined.

We got back here slightly after noon, and she started cleaning right away. I stayed out of her way, at first eating in the dining room, then getting on the computer in the living room. She kept asking me all kinds of stuff, yelling it out of the kitchen. Things like: why i had this or that thing? Why I had all my mugs on the counter? Why I had some glasses in a drawer? How I burnt a paper plate in the microwave? And why was it still in the microwave? And what had exploded inside the mircowave? Or what several things had exploded inside? And did I know because of all the dust behind my fridge, there was a burn mark on the floor that could have led to a fire possibly? Why did I keep a vacuum cleaner in my pantry if it didn't work and I had a new one still in the box in the truck of my car? And why was it STILL in the trunk of my car? And why did I have two mops in the pantry when i told her I didn't think I had ANY mops? Yeah, she was just packed full of questions.

At one point, I laid on the couch and read a book, but I nodded off. I woke up as she was on he way through the living room, back to the kitchen from using the bathroom. And she was giggling. I probably was snoring. I just laughed and told her it was exhausting watching her work.

But my GOD did she do an outstanding job! I mean, I just expected her to clean, but in addition, she reorganized things, and moved some stuff around. Not really my cabinets, but I had things on plastic shelves, and on the microwave stand, and in the pantry and atop the fridge that all were just kinda....there. And she reorganized things...now I have a very organized pantry and shelves and everything. I had no idea it could even LOOK like that! About 2:10 or so, she started on the bathroom. I just stayed entirely out of her way.

Then, at 3:00, Danny showed up. I had really thought she would be done by then, but oh well. We sat on the couch, well out of her way, and cuddled and talked. He laid his head back onto my chest and laid on the couch while I sat behing him and we had ours arms entwined. We kissed occasionally, but not as she was walking through the living room. I mean, she knows I'm gay, I don't care that she sees me with Danny. But I thought it would be...disrespectful for us to be making out all over each other while she's here. I mean it would be the same if she and her boyfriend (my friend AJ) were macking all over each other while I was at their place ya know? She did walk through once and giggle and say, "You guys are so cute."

She finished up and left about 3:40. I think she was rushing, but really, she wasn't intruding on anything. Well, she was, but it wasn't anything that couldn't wait. Nonetheless, I introduced them quickly before she left, and then she was out the door! And the making out and stuff commenced.

It's not a bit after 9:00pm, and I've just walked though my house; through the kitchen I barely recognize; through the bathroom that's not been cleaner probably since I moved in. Smell waft about me: bleach; another cleaner she used; Danny's cologne; our sweat; the scented candles I have burning. Outside it is dark, and raining lightly, as it's been all day.

(oh, almost forgot, while she was cleaning, Danny and I both talked about how we like rainy days, and we both like thunder if we're with someone to hold, and right after Lisa left, I locked the door, went right back to the couch, kinda straddled him as he lay there and leaned in to kiss him...and there was a burst of thunder...the first I'd heard since he got here. We both laughed. Then kissed)

All the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and touches I have had today have made for quite a very interesting batch of memories, that I'll not soon forget. And a damn good day all around.

I'm just a typical american boy, from a typical american town,

Typical. It is SO typical.

Freddie and I break up around Thanksgiving. For the next three months, I got nothing. Which really is okay, cause I've spent more of my life outside of a relationship than in one. Then I meet Don. Things are pretty good. I really like the guy. Of course there's complexity, involved his situation with Jim. But I'm willing to wait, because Don really is a great guy. But due to various reasons, Don and I haven't seen or talked to each other much in the last three week.

Then, last week, a guy I knew about 15-17 years ago and I ran into each other. We decide to get together in a few days to catch up. Back then, we had hooked up a few times, but were basically friends. And we haven't really spoken much over the last ten years. So we just want to catch up on our lives. I suggest a restaurant, or I can go to his place or he can come here. he says he'll come here. Wednesday evening he did. And we caught up. It was fun seeing what he's done with his life and telling him about mine. And, yes....wait for it...(like you don't already see where this is going), we hooked up again. Only this time, it wasn't just a hookup. It wasn't purely physical, I found myself feeling things for him. And he says he did too. And the further complication is that he's in a ten year relationship with this other guy. But he stills wants to pursue this with me despite the relationship. At least at this point. Although, it sounds like the relationship might be on its last legs anyway, I don't know.

And then tonight, Don calls me again. And so I'm kinda pulled back towards him. But it's not like I actually HAVE either one, ya know?

Typical. So fucking typical!

Why is it when I'm not involved with anyone, I couldn't PAY someone to date me, but when I meet some guy i really like, and would like to pursue, then suddenly guys are popping out of the woodwork! (okay, well one guy is not really 'guys popping out of the woodwork'...but that's a nice visual anyway...a man's gotta be able to dream, right?) And I really like Danny (the new guy) a lot too. *SIGH*

And typicalness point two: why can't I find an complicated relationship???? I mean, Don has Jim, and Danny has his guy? What the hell is up with this? Are there no single gay guys in this area? ......um, who would be interested in an old, fat, hairy, comic-book obsessed, somewhat immature and selfish single gay guy????

Ya know, I just re-read this and it sounds like something written in to Dear Abby by some indecisive little twenty-something co-ed who's having affairs with two older married guys. Which, except for her age, and sex and the fact gays can't be married, does kinda sound like my case.

But that's not the way it is. Not with me. Really, it isn't. I'm not indecisive, and I'm not innocent and naive and Don and Danny are not manipulating me. This is just all confusing.

ya know when I was younger, this wouldn't even BE an issue. I'd just fuck Don's brains out and then fuck Danny's brains out the next night, and then repeat the process until my penis fell off from overuse. Feelings? Emotions? Pfffft, who needed them????

Geez, could my life GET anymore like a soap opera? A gay soap opera? A not particularly interersting gay soap opera, granted, but still?

Look, yesterday and today at work sucked! They were physically tiring and extremely emotionally draining, so if I seem a bit....maudlin, or whiney, deal with it. It's how I feel now. I'm sure I'll be better soon....like on Monday, when I'm looking through my photos to post for Monday's Hot Shirtless Guy Photos. THAT always cheers me up.

Hey! there's no need to debate, it's time to designate...

I did not watch the debate last night, I already know who I'm voting for. If Obama states he likes to rip the heads off newborns and suck their blood, or if Jesus Christ himself comes back and puts his arm around Hillary and says he's voting for her and I should too, then I might reconsider my vote. Short of that, I'm voting for Obama Tuesday.

But I saw highlights and read about it. I heard a lot about lapel pins, the candidates' pastors, and bitter remarks. Strangely, I heard very little, if nothing about Iraq, Iran, the crisis with the airlines, torture, waterboarding, and nothing of that sort.

Now, please people, before you go vote, both on Tuesday for Pennsylvanians and in November for everyone, think about what matters to you more, think about what will matter to you more in two years, think about what matters to you more when you think of your kids in 15 years. What will be a bigger concern in November, two years from now, and for your kids in 15 years: Lapel pins, pastors and bitter remarks or an invasion in Iraq, threats to Iran, major US industries failing, and Americans torturing.

And vote accordingly, please.

Undress me, will I look like a fool (Part 105)...

Its time once more for....

Kids, one day last week, Friday i think, the temps actually reached 80 degrees! Personally, I hate heat. Anything over 80, and its too much for me. I'd prefer it never get higher than 80...and then only in the middle of August.

But the nice thing about heat is that all the cute boys take advantage of it, and wear shorts and take off their shirts, walking around flashing their hot sexy chests, usually, because of the heat, they're hot and sweaty....and most of them muscular and riped....with abs for days...

Okay..., sorry, I'm back. At any rate, it was warm this particular day, so I for the first time this year, broke out the shorts and worn them outside. I was showing off my pale-as-the-belly-of-a--whale legs.

I just wish there was standing beside me, a young man, with his shirt off, displaying his hot, sweaty, muscular chest............

I'm the cleaning woman, i'm here...mess...

Last night, I cleaned my toilet and my sink. With the scrubbing bubbles, and gloves one, and glass cleaner (for the mirror), and a general cleaner. And I was going to try the tub…until I actually looked at the tub. And then I gave up on that idea. It’s beyond me. It would probably be easier to buy and install a new tub than it would be to clean this one. At least for me.

Then I remembered something. I was at the house of a buddy of mine, AJ, a few weeks ago. I was talking to his girlfriend and she mentioned that she cleans this apartment for this old guy, who has a cat and the guy can’t bend over and the cat shits everywhere and he can’t clean it up so it sits there and so on and so forth. The story really has nothing to do with my story. My point here is that, in addition to her regular job, she cleans someone’s apartment! Just what I need!

It so happened that AJ called me last night before I could call him. After he and I talked a bit, I explained what I wanted and he had me talk to his girlfriend, Lisa. So this is the deal: this Sunday at noon, she’s gonna show up here. I only want her to clean my kitchen and bathroom. She’s gonna look at them, figure out how much she wants to clean them. Then we’ll go, and I’ll buy, all the stuff she needs to clean them that I don’t have. And then, she’ll clean my kitchen and bathroom! And, assuming it goes well, I’m gonna have her clean it every other week, just the kitchen and bathroom. Obviously, the initial time I expect to pay her a lot for the mess, but once she starts, and if she keeps up with it, then I shouldn’t have to pay her as much every other week.

She made a fuss about only cleaning the kitchen and bathroom, why didn’t I want her to clean to whole apartment? Why walk out of a clean kitchen into a scrungy living room, she asked.

I told her in my apartment you walk out of the kitchen into the dining room, but in addition, I can deal with clutter and dustiness. My concern is fungus and other things that may be growing in both the kitchen and the bathroom. So I’m gonna have her clean them.

And not only do I get a clean, bathroom and kitchen, but she gets a little extra cash, which I like helping them cause AJ and Lisa have two kids and they just moved into their own place and things are a bit tight for them right now. Every little bit will help.

It’s a win/win situation!

Two people, red and flustered, we just kissed and that's about it...

Today at work, I was talking with a friend of mine. He's a good guy, a cool guy, fun to be around. He's also about 24 or so, and I think he's cute, but that's really neither here nor there.

At any rate, we were sitting around talking and he said he had this video game I'd love to play. I told him I didn't play video games. He says, "You don't play video games? Really?" I replied really. And he says, "Polt, you suck."

Without missing a beat I said, "Why yes I do. And quite well I'm told." then I laughed and asked what the video game was. He just sat in the chair and looked at the floor, and got red, and kinda sputtered a bit. He laughed nervously and said, "I don't really know what to say after that." And then we both laughed.

I've said things like that to him before, and he gets all flustered each and every time. And it's so funny. And cute. He really was flustered. I had to ask him three times what the game was, and, actually, I still don't know what the name was.

He's okay with me being gay. But I don't think he's known anyone gay before and he's not used to hearing someone say those things. He certainly isn't used to hearing ME say them. I don't have many opportunities to say things like that, we're rarely alone. but when we are, and when i can work them into conversation, I love doing it, just to watch his reactions.

TMI TUESDAYS
These come from http://tmituesday.blogspot.com.

1. Did you have to pay or did you get money back? State taxes came out even, as always. I'm getting $1100 back from the fed.
2. What was your biggest financial mistake? Using my Credit Card like it was a debit card and running up$7000 in debt over a few years time. I have since paid it off, but damn, that made things tough for a while.
3. Are you a screamer? Only when I'm angry. In bed, it's more of a moaner, dirty talker.
4. What part of your body, other than your genitals, do you love to have touched? What part of a partner's body, other than their genitals, do you love to touch? Holding hands has always been quite a turn on. I love running my fingers through my partner's hair, if it's long. Any place anyone wants to touch me is good for me, except for the bottom of my feet. Too ticklish.
5. What commercial catch phrase best describes your life? He who dies with the most fun, wins. It was some kinda Lottery promotion thing.
Bonus (as in optional): What was the last thing you took without permission? What was the last thing taken from you without your permission? I dont know honesntly. Some people at work wasted my time on something stupid that I shouldn't have even been involved with, I think they took my time without permission.

With adventures for the stout of heart...

My adventures with Mama Polt.

This past Saturday, when I was at work, I got a call from Mom. She said her car's battery was dead. It left her sit at some store. She wanted me to drop by the house after work so we could deal with this. I had misunderstood her a bit, but what I said above was what she meant. What we needed to do was to go get a new set of jumper cables as her's were no good. So I took het to Advanced Auto and she got a set. For my troubles, I was rewarded with a home cooked meal of baked ham, baked potatos and peas. Yummy,

Sunday, I went over for lunch. And we decided to go to the Outlets in Gettysburg so I could a few things at the Fat Man's Store (known elsewhere as Casual Male Big & Tall) and look for some shoes. And that's what we did. I got a pair of jeans, a pair of shorts and two shirts. I was only in the store for like ten minutes, cause I just wasnt feeling it. I have to be in the mood for shopping. When I am, I can go mad in a Fat Man's Store. But when Im not, eh...nothing.

I looked in a couple shoe stores there, but I refuse to pay $50 or more for a pair of shoes. I can get TWO pair at Payless for that price. I can't justify spending that much on shoes when I can get shoes that are just fine, cheaper, elsewhere. Course, as mom pointed out to me, I'll spend $55 on four action figures, and $30-s0me dollars a week on comic books, but not $50 on shoes. And yes, its true. And that all makes perfect sense to me, so shut up about it.

So then, after helping ourselves to a soft pretzel at Aunt Annies, we drove through Gettysburg and to the Chambersburg Mall, where I got a pair of brown work shoes and a pair of sneakers for the grand total of $44 and some odd cents.

After this we returned to her house. Once more, I misudnerstood what she had said. I thought I was going to jump her car and then follow her out to the mechanic's place that works on Volkswagens that night. Then she's call him first thing Monday morning about fixing it. So when we got to her place, I hung out there. Later, she fried up some hamburgers, which were delicious, of course. And i hung around there for a bit longer, watching something about WW2 on TV...which she and I both napped through. After that, i said I guess I was ready to go home, did we want to go take the VW out now? And that's when she told me she wanted to do that Monday morning, AFTER she called him. Okay...well, that made a bit more sense, I suppose. She said she'd call me in the morning. Only then did she realize she didn't have a car to take her to church Sunday night. So I left mine there, and she just used it, and she kept it there overnight.

Monday morning, then, at 8:15, she called and woke me up and told me she would take my car down and jump hers and I could just meet her there. 8:15...on a Monday morning, my day to sleep in....grumble grumble. But I got up, threw on some clothes, and walked over. When i got there, she was trying to jump the car, but her battery was too dead. I mean it was dead dead. Deader than a doornail. The volkswagen was going nowhere.

She called the mechanic, who said he'd be in when he got everything there organized. An hour later, there was no sign of him. She asked if I had had any breakfast yet, and I told her no. So she said she'd make me some, and he'd come while she was doing it. She was almost finished frying the eggs when she saw him pull up to the garage. So off she went. I finished the eggs and ate them.

Her car fixed, she went off to work. I came home, got online, napped shortly, then showered and prepared to actually start my day.

It's always an adventure with Mama Polt.
