When I left work yesterday at 4:00, it was the last time I'd have to work until March! Today is my regular day off. I have the annual training at work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Then, since Monday is my usual day off, but I'm in training, I'm switchin it to Friday, so I have off Friday. A co-worker is working for me Saturday, and then I have my regular days off Sunday and Monday.
In other words, I have the next nine days off from actual work. Which is kinda awesome. the downside is, of the next 12 days after my nine off, I have to work 11 of them, which sucks. And I'm sure at that time, I'll really be hating it. But for now, I'm kinda excited about the nine day no work vacation without having to use a minute of leave.
What I'm also not too keen about is the fact that I now have a phlegmy cough. Not a real bad one, but I'm really hoping this isn't the beginning of something worse. I mean, that would be SO typical: I get four days off in a row, and I get a bad case of the hacking flu during it. I popped some Mucinex and am hoping that takes care of it.
And, the dinner date with the female coworker went much better than I anticipated last night. We had great food, awesome conversations and lots of laughs and fun. Afterwards, we decided to get a bottle of Asti and bring it back to my house to drink it. She was here for over two hours while we talked and drank. I came out, officially, to her, although she already knew. Or was pretty sure. but I mean, how could she NOT be? she's not stupid or brain dead. And i got to thinking how much it was like a REAL date cause a) I bought the meal, b) I bought the Asti, c) I brought her back to my place but d) we didn't have sex. Sounds like a typical Saturday night date for some straight men, right?

whats in a name....
Due to the poll to name the new car being closed, I think it's time to announce the car's name. It will be Sebastian. Sebastian got over one third of all the votes cast. Incidentally, it's also the name that was my first choice for the car's name as well.
My second choice was Gabriel. My third choice Oliver. I threw Goldie in because of the color and just made up Juan to make an even five choices. So now Sebastian has name. And if my old latptop hadn't up and died on me ten days ago or so, I'd include a photo of him here. But since I can't, I'll instead include a photo of a generic 2008 Nissan Versa and we can all pretend it's Sebastian himself.

BITS-N-PIECES
After work today, I came home, dropped some things off, grabbed my iPod and took a walk. It was a short walk, only about 20-25 minutes. It was a chilly walk but it was a sunny one, and that's why I went. I felt getting a little sunshine could not be a bad thing.
I went to mom's at the end of the walk. We talked a bit and I played with the dog. Mom said she too was feeling pretty blah earlier in the week. Last night, in fact, she told herself she was going to clean the house today no matter what. So, this morning, when she got up, the first thing she did was shovel a batch of snow off the sidewalk, and then she spent the rest of the day cleaning the downstairs. And when I was over there about 4:45 in the afternoon, she still had not taken a shower for the day. She laughed when she told me this, saying, "I thought I'd take it when I was done cleaning, but then I sat down to rest and watched the Olympics and then I thought, 'Shoot, it's 3:00, why bother now?' " Ah, Mama Polt, a sense of non-stop smiling is she.
*********************************
Tomorrow night, after work, I'm going on a dinner date with a cute little female co-worker. Although it's not really a date, as she has a boyfriend who could easily kick my ass. He's an EMT or a firefighter, I forget which, but he's gonna be workined 36 hours straight through and she wants to get out and away from the empty house. And who better to get out away with and have a wonderful boyfriendless evening with but ME?
*********************************
I'm not really sure why, but I'm really kinda jonesed about seeing this movie.
Probably because it deals with Greek mythology. I've always loved Greek mythology, ever since I was in middle school when we first studied it. I don't know that I'll go see it in a theater or wait for Netflix, but it does interest me.
*********************************
As I type this I'm watching a Matrix movie on Bravo. I said it when I saw first saw it, and nothing changed my mind since: the freeway scene from the second Matrix film is the most exciting, action packed scene I have EVER seen in ANY movie.
It's just too bad so much of the rest of the movie was vapid, nonsensical, claptrap.
*********************************
And now, onto the obligatory Bits-N-Pieces eye candy.

"A Little Bit Of Fashion"

(I got nothing from Dave S. or Chazz overnight, so this will be a solo review. If they send me anything, I'll update the post with their comments!)
Make a look for a little girl and then, surprise, make a complimentary look for a model!
Just some observations first:
Jonathan's scared of children? really? He did finally shine this episode, he came out of the woodwork and developed a personality.
A dog at Mood??? I LOVE Mood!!!
"If I was a little girl, I would wear green." - Anthony
Ben and Jay using purple, Jesse and Emilio wearing purple! This could possibly be my favorite episode ever!
Jay in white short-shorts? Yes please!
Tim says - "You're rockin' Halloween" and "Stop the show or clown clothes!"
The looks:
Anthony: I don't think they're compatable, but they're well made
Amy: Looks sloppily made, girl's looks thrown together
Ben: Don't see them as compatable, but well made
Seth Aaron: Matched, looks good but a bit out there
Jesse: Like it all around, chic
Jonathan: Too many ruffles
Maya: Nicely matched, looks good
Mila: Works together but too 60's-ish
Emilo: Love it! Both extremely well made, could see them at a wedding
Janeane: Matches kinda but very drab and boring
Jay: Matching ruffles are awesome, nice look
My top three: Emilio, as the winner, Jesse & Jay
My bottom three: Janeane, as the loser, Amy, Mila
I think the judges were way off on the winner. I thought Seth Aaron's girl's dress was do-able, but the model's one just seemed too..gimmicky. I totally agreed that Janeane needed to go.
Next week, we have Hardware, screaming, hammering, cheesefests, and dirty vacuum bags. Sounds like any Saturday night around Casa de Polt! Be-da-DUM!

Curling? Seriously?

How in Phelps' name is this a real sport? C'mon, we all know, just like cricket, curling isn't a real sport.
Sometime in past, in Northern Canada or Norway, or somewhere like that, there was a group of guys sitting around a frozen lake getting frostbite on their curling sticks and balls, and were bored out of their minds. So one guys found this flat rock and said, "He, watch me slide this across the ice!" And after he did a few times, two of the other, who had just finished sweeping out the igloo but yet were still bored, said, "Hey, why don't we use these brooms and sweep the ice away in front of the rock!"
And thusly was born the...*snicker*...sport of curling.
And people wonder why I have no interest in the Winter Olympics.

Give it away now....
Doing better today, much better actually. Smiled quite a bit during the day, didn't seem as down. Was as if the clouds that had been following me were broken open by sunlight, beams of which hit me all day. Or something equally pathetically poetic.
At any rate, on the way to work today, the song, "Give It Away" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers came on the radio.
I was quite surprised to find that I could still sing it, every stinking word, as it played. This particular CD, BloodSugarSexMagic, had nearly constant play on my stereo and in my car in...I think it was 1991 or 1992. I remember the time because me co-worker, and best friend at the time, Jeff took a three hour road trip to pick up our friend and former co-worker, Heather, from college and bring her back to the area. And we listened and sang along to this CD almost the whole way up.
Plus, I loved this video. I always thought Anthony Kiedis (who's almost 50! How much does THAT freak you old) was hot, and I got no problem watching weirdly attired hot shirtless guys run around in the desert. Plus, there a quick scene at 2:10 where Anthony and Flea quickly kiss. I taped this video off of MTV once for the express purpose of trying to pause it just on the kiss to actually see them do it (this was before Will & Grace or Ellen, remember. Hell, not even Elton was officially out yet)! And VCR tapes NEVER pause perfectly, so I sat there going backwards and forwards repeatedly trying to zero in on that exact kiss. I don't know how long over how many days I tried that. Course, here on YouTube, it took me all of two tries (once to find it, rewind, then to catch it). Ah, technology.
Anyways, as I started off with, I surprised myself by actually remembering all the words to a song I used to sing 20 years ago and haven't listened too much at all in the last ten years. And yet I couldn't tell you what I had for lunch on Monday.
The memory's a funny thing.

I'm still in a funk. Not depressed, really, just apathetic, lethargic, blah. I just don't give a damn. And I know anyone still reading the Palace is probably sick and tired of hearing me whine about this, but, well, I don't give a damn.
Today at work was really bad. I had little motivation or desire to do anything. Oh I got things done, I had to, cause next week I'm in training all week and won't be there, so I gotta get stuff wrapped up this week as best I can. but man, I just didn't care about anything. And the longer the day went on, the worse it got.
And then after work I had to go for my cut-n-color. My hair was all raggedy, my sideburns were all bushy and grey. I looked like an old Wolverine. It was horrible. And Linda (the lady that does my hair) could tell something was wrong. I told her some things that had been stressing me out. And then I just wanted to be left alone. But God love her, she tried to cheer me up. She told me about her dogs, showed me photos of them in the snow, related funny stories to me. If fact, what she was doing was really just pissing me off more as I didn't want to talk. But she's so good natured, I didn't say anything. I just suffered in more or less silence.
Then I came home and showered, making sure I washed any residual coloring off my forehead near my hairline, laid on the bed, got off to an old porn DVD, and took a 15 minute nap. Then I was up dressed and one my way.
my friend Michelle invited me to a party at a new Mexican restaurant here in town. There were going to be about ten of us. One of those ten would be Todd. I met Todd in January of 2009 when a group of went to a hibatchi restaurant. I thought he was cute, he seemed like a nice guy, BUT we sat at opposite ends of the table and didn't really converse much at all but to shake hands and say goodbye. Through last year, there were at least three attempts to get us at another function, but things came up. I couldn't make it, he couldn't make it, the weather, what have you. But tonight, we were hopefully gonna sit next to each other and be able to talk. At least that was MY hope.
So where did Todd sit? Opposite end of the table once again. We never did get to talk. So when I got home, I sent a Facebook message to his good friend Colleen, who was there also, and told her to just give him my number or have him friend me on Facebook, if he was interested, and we'd see about getting something to eat or drink or whatever. I know it sounds all Middle School-ish, but I was tired of all the pussyfooting around.
I was actually excited and had a good time. I dont know if it was because of the short nap, or cause I was getting out of the house or what. But I'm glad that I was feeling much more..enthusiastic about it all. Now that I'm home, I don't feel as blah as I did most of the day. Although I am tired, and probably will go to bed soon again. To read again. The comic books I got today. I don't know why I'm so fatigued so much now. Maybe tomorrow after work, I'll just go for a walk before the sun sets. Maybe the exercise and being outside will do me good.
Or maybe I'll just not feel like it and come home and plant my fat ass on the couch like I have been doing. Only time will tell.

I haven't watched a second of the Winter Olympics.

Granted, I've been having issues since they opened, mainly with the old laptop and having to get a new one and the resulting stress overload. But I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been watching much of them anyway. i don't like many winter sports. While I can find ice skating a beautiful and graceful thing, I hate watching it scored because it's all opinion. I prefer sports that are not won subjectively. I mean, if you're the first one across the finish line, then obviously, you're the winner. It doesn't matter what the Soviet judge may think of you or your performance. First one across is the winner.
I've never been interested in skiing of any kind. I still just can't seem to think of snowboarding as a sport. I mean, when are they gonna get skateboarding in the summer Olympics, right? Hockey's fun, but I hate watching it on TV, I always lose the damn puck. I much prefer it live, where I can follow the puck AND joing in the rousing cheers and shouts and chants of the crowd. And really, curling? How the hell is THAT considered a sport? It looks like shuffleboard on ice.
Plus, the really big disadvantage for me is this: the athletes are wearing too much damn clothing! Gimme the Speedo in swimming or diving or water polo, give me the tight wreslting singlets, give me the short shorts and clinging wife beaters of gymnastics and running and track showing off those muscular thighs. Even if I have no interest in the sport, I can at least be interested in the athletes.
I have no beef with someone who's into the Olympics and enjoys watching them. more power to ya. for me, though, I think I'm just sit this year out and wait until 2012 for the London Summer Olympics.

TMI Tuesdays
These come each week from http://tmituesday.blogspot.com/The Valentine's Day Edition.
1. Have you had sex with another person in 2010? Have you passed on an opportunity to sex with another person in 2010? I have had sex with two people so far this year. I have no passed at an opporutnity 'to sex with antoher person'. Like I'd ever do that. 2. What is the funniest thing you have ever said or done during sex? (Orgasmic facial expressions do not count.) Hmm, I'm not sure. I know when Freddie had on the edible undies we were both laughing so hard we couldn't do anything but laugh. They were so sad and pathetic and silly looking. I was crying I was laughing so hard, but so was he.
3. What is the first thing you notice about a member of the opposite sex? I know we've had this question before and my answer remains the same: The cuteness of their boyfriend.
4. What is the best pick-up line you have ever heard? Every used? Ever been used on you? The best one used on me was a guy who came up can said, "Guys with glasses are so hot! When you're fucking me later tonight, you will have to keep them on the whole time!" I did fuck him later that night, but I didn't keep them on the whole time, just part of it. They fell off. I don't generally use pick-up lines. I find the best thing is to just smile and say HI. And depending on their reaction, go from there.
5. Where is the most unique you have ever had sex? An outdoot swimming pool in broad daylight? The top of a parking garage at night, but with buildings overlooking the place? While driving a car while on an Interstate near Baltimore (although with this one, we soon stopped the car to continue so we didn't wreck)? And to be totally honest, all three of these were just oral sex, not fully on, full body sexual fucking.
Bonus (as in optional): Do you pee in the shower? If so, has any SO known that you pee in the shower? Has any SO peed in the shower? I do pee in the shower, and I know Freddie knew that but I'm not sure any other boyfriends have known. Nor am I aware of any others peeing in the shower, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

Feeling a bit better today. I went to bed last night about 8:30 an read some comic books. That took my mind off everything. That's my safe, happy place. Reading comic books, even ones that I've already read, is quite relaxing because, honestly, it takes me back to my childhood when things were easier and the worst problem I had could be solved by a soothing word from mom.
I went to sleep actually sometime around 10:00 I think. I got up this morning and out of bed about 9:30. Today I tried to keep a bit busy, I went with mom to Wal-Mart, did a load of laundry, did some surfing on the blogs I hadn't been able to visit over the weekend.
But I'm still in a funk. The last year or so has been a good year, don't get me wrong, but it's been a very stressful time as well. And I gotta tell you, if someone spends a lot of their time in a stressed state, I can totally understand how some people just go off. This sucks.
As I sit here, I'm worrying about this new laptop, am I gonna be able to get it set up the same way my old one was, do I have sufficient anti-viral stuff going, do I relaly like the Toshiba or instead of getting one right away, should I have ordered another Dell online and waited for it to arrive. I'm worried about the snow that's falling, cause I don't know how well the new car will go through it and how well it performs in snow. I'm worried about the new car, but I don't know why, cause I've already got the car. i'm worried about something breaking in the house and how pathetically incapable I am of doing damn near anything myself around here. Painting, hanging pictures correctly, redo-ing the bathroom, etc...I have no confidence in my ability to do any of it. I worry about something happening to mom, cause she's gonna be 67 years old next month, and she's not gonna be around forever, and I have no idea what I'm gonna do when she's gone.
And that's the kind of stupid shit I'm worried about. I think I'm having problems now because of so much that's happened within the last ten days: Two record breaking blizzards and the resulting aftermath, Miss Cleo dying, having to go through the process of buying another one (even though it was quite easy and painless), and then the loss of the laptop and having to get a new one and deal with it as I mentioned above.
I know, I know, in my head I know that this stuff is not all that bad. I'm not injured. Mom's still alive and healthy. My house didn't burn down. I was able to afford the car AND the computer. In my head, I know all that. But my head isn't what's causing me stress. I don't know what is. I really just wanna get into bed, crawl into the fetal position and just lay there until I feel better.
I'll come through this. I've come through worse...at some point in time, I'm sure. Its just something I need to make my way through. I'm almost looking forward to work tomorrow (if I can get there in the snow) because surprisingly, it's the one place right now where I have little stress. Course, I haven't been there much in the last ten days, only about three days. So maybe I'm just having a case of cabin fever.
Whatever...right now, I'm feeling a bit better than I did yesterday. I just hope tomorrow I feel better than I do today. And so on and so forth.
UPDATE:7:45 pm
Corey called me and told me that 1) my anti-viral stuff was satisfactory. He recommended I get two other things, things that I'll look into soon, but right now, I'm okay. And 2) After I described what was going on with the old laptop, he seems to think he'll be able to isolate whatever the problem is an eliminate it. Both of these things made me feel quite a bit better.
Also, after this, my Toronto Buddy Michelle called me. A friend of hers is having a birthday party at a newly opened restaurant on Wednesday. And Todd will be there. Last January, Todd was at a dinner I was at with Michelle, he's gay and I thought he was cute. Over the ensuing year, there were three occasions when there were attempts for us to be at the same place again, but each time, something came up to make it not happen. So hopefully this Wednesday, Todd and I will both be there and get a chance to talk. Just to see what, if anything happens.
So after all of this, I'm doing a bit better than I was when I first posted this. yay for me.

So after all of this, I'm doing a bit better than I was when I first posted this. yay for me.

I hate Valentine's Day, and always have, even when I've been dating someone.
This year, though, I'm in a funk. Not because of Valentine's Day specifically, but because of everything. Ya know, there's been a LOT of changes since last VD.
Last February 14th, AJ was still alive, I was living in the apartment, I had two computers (a desktop HP and a laptop Dell), I had Miss Cleo, I did NOT have to deal with frequent blizzards dropping insane amounts of snow.
And NOW, this year, AJ's dead, I'm in a strange house, I only have the one laptop that I just bought less than 12 hours ago, I haven't owned the new car a week yet and we're supposed to get 4-8 MORE inches of snow tomorrow night.
My whole life, in the last year, in the last 6 months specifically, just seems so out of control. Like I'm riding on a andless roller coaster, with no brakes. It's a very disquieting feeling. Depressing too.
Even though it's not even 8:30 yet and I didn't wake up until 9:30 this morning, I think I'm gonna just go to bed. Things always look better first thing in the morning.
Nite all. Oh, and if anyone is actually celebrating Valentine's Day, well, have a good one.

Thanks for Toshiba, Best Buy and Discover Card, I have another laptop. Corey hasn't yet checked into the problems with the old one, but he will soon. In the meantime, I have this new one. I'm still trying to get the hang of Windows 7, and I'm pretty sure I've gotten the Norton anti-virus set up correctly. Or more accurately, I PRAY I've got it set up properly.
I've managed to get back to Farmville and do a bit of clean up there. I'm promising myself that I'm going to be a good boy with this particular laptop and lay off the porn sites. And I'm gonna try to NOT download every stinkin' photo of a hot guy I see, not only because of potential viruses, but because of space considerations. I'm not really sure what I'm actually going to DO with a computer if I'm not downloading porn or watching porn vids, but I'm sure I'll find something somwhat productive.
In addition to the thanks above, I want to thank A Local Celebrity, Mr. David ParisPeking for allowing me access to his laptop last night and in help with harvesting my crops, even the whithered one.
So hopefully, I'm back for a while now.

Well, kids, last night, my laptop went all crazy-bonkers. I don't know what the hell's wrong with it. I spoke to Corey over the phone (his job is dealing with computers) and he said it sounds like I got some malware on it. *SIGH* After work, if he's home, I'm gonna take it over for him to look at and tinker with.
So, until it either gets fixed or I buy a new one (just what I need after buying a house in August and a car just 6 days ago...I guess that's why God invented credit cards, eh?), there won't be any new postings here. And I'll only be able to reach my email and your blogs at work or when I'm at moms. I'm hoping to get this resolved this weekend, one way or the other, so hopefully I can be back in full force early next week. We'll see.
Continue to carry on in my absence. And the last one to leave the Palace each night, please make sure the doors are locked and turn off the light, kay? Thanks.

Frenching Fridays
Due to the fact that the area I'm in has more snow and cold than Buffalo, New York and Denver, Colorado (possibly even when added together), this week's theme is "Men Kissing Outside...Where It's NOT Snowy And Cold!"

Take it to the runway (Part 16)...
"Run For Cover"

And now, onto this week's episode:
Shirtless Seth Aaron? NO! Jesse with a line of facial stubble? Yes please!
Ben, the colors...I hope they don't come out garish.
Jonathan's hair is much better as a fauxhawk than combed down.
Mila, arrogant much? Perhaps that's why no one congratulated you last time.
Why are Mila and Janeane wearing the same yellow/black/white splotched top?
Now, the runway:
Amy: a floppy mess
Seth Aaron: Disappointingly, I really like it.
Jesse: A corset? Not sure, but it's okay.
Anna: Not cohesive at ALL.
Anthony: Messy, looks amateurish
Janeane: Ok, but bland colored.
Mila: Too short, the bottom arrow looks like it's emphasizing her hootchie
Emilo: Looks like a nightie, but ok.
Jay: Train too long and flowing, not sure.
Jonathan: 1970's Farrah Fawcett, nononono
Maya: Not keen on the collar but okay overall
Ben: Like it. Not garish at all, the colors work.
My top three: Seth Aaron, Maya, Ben, with Ben as the winner
My bottom three: Anna, Anthony, Amy, with Anna going home
The judges choices: Anthony wins, Anna leaves. At least I had one correct, but man was I far off on the winner. It was asymmetrical and looked almost unfinished. Clearly, I'm not meant to work in fashion.
And now for Dave S.'s take:
Okay, Mila, you're starting to get on my nerves. How can you possibly whine, "Why don't they like me?" and then turn around a minute later and be all "I'm wonderful and everyone else sucks!" While you're designing that bland, colorless dress why not take a quick break and get a snack out of the clue machine?
And what the hell was in Anna's head when she came up with that three-piece disco costume? Good lord. It's not Teen People that's Heidi's going to be on the cover of.
Okay, so I moderately agree with the top and bottom groups that the judges chose. Though I absolutely hated Amy's flowery-patterned gross-fest, highlighted by a massive strange coursage stuck to the shoulder like a giant gay hissing cockroach. Yuck.
Anna, goodbye. You're a nice girl, but you're way out of your league at this point. The judges made the right choice.
But Anthony as the winner??? Really? The dress was a nice concept, but the execution sucked. It was a mess of layers that were laying all wrong. Ben's was by far more compelling and beautifully done. The judges definitely got it wrong this time.
And for a younger perspective, Chazz:
Anthony's dress was boring boring boring! Maybe Heidi's just getting more dull with each child she has, because Emilio's dress was far more striking. And Anna got kicked off? Who's Anna?

Glad to see we all three agreed on Anthony's dress. And Chazz's Anna comment made me laugh out loud! Thanks guys. Next week we have little girls, Romper Room on crack and cheap mall outfits.

Sliding the slopes....
Today I was out trudging around in the remains of Snowpocalypse, Part Drei. Naturally, i got some photos.

This slope, this ski range, was what previously was known as my front steps. I managed to shovel out about half of it and then said screw it, cause honestly, there was no place to put the snow.

The as-yet-unnamed new car (don't forget to vote on it over in the sidebar if you haven't done so already) in the space I shoveled out for him. I had to get the snow out from UNDER him that somehow had blown under there and got packed in. Yeah, that was fun.

These are the deathtrap icicles hanging from my balcony roof. The nearest one are right over where I exit the house in the back. It's an adreneline rush just trying to get out to the car each day.

The unplowed alley.

I walked up another unplowed alley. I was following one set of footprints already there. Obviously whoever made them was also walking a dog, because the little set of prints broke off by itself for a short bit. Made me chuckle watching it.

The sidewalk is plowed with a snowblower. The car space has been kinda shoveled out. It left an interesting wall of snow standing between them.

Mom snow-blew a section of the snow in the grass away so that Angel could go to the bathroom. What she left behind was a mushroom shaped mound.

Mom's back porch. Somewhere under there is a round picnic table, four benches and at least two chairs. That picket fence is about halfway between by waist and armpit, so that shows you how high it is.

These were deathtrap icicles hanging from mom's deck roof. The longer ones are close to a yard long. Thankfully, they're not hanging down on an area where anyone walks.

I attempted to get Angel in the 'piddle-walk' area mom plowed, but you can't really see how she disappears when inside it.

I took my photo in front of another large snow dune. It didn't turn out as well as I planned, but the dune, where is surrounds the tree, is just about at my shoulder length. And I'm 6'1" tall.

And I had a neighbor get a photo of me next to a mound in the backyard. This is where we threw a whole bunch of the snow, as there was really nowhere else to put it. And one again, you see that it's up to my shoulders.
Now, I've always said I love snow, and I still do. But frankly, I'm done with it for this year. No more, Mother Nature, thank you very much.

Once more it's time for...

Okay, last week, i had no time and no inspiration for an HNT. So this week I give you two HNT's. I had plenty of time (what with being snowed in 5 of the last 6 days), but still very little imagination.
However, today, on a trip to a local store in the second blizzard, I took these two pics that I'll use for HNT.
Firstly, as I approached the store, there were mounds of snow piled up around the edges of the parking lot so high, some were several feet taller than my six foot one inch height. So I took the following photo:

Unfortunately, I didn't really get the mound of snow in it. But if you look to the left of me, you can see the beginning of the mound of snow. It extends behind my huge noggin...sorry it's blocked. Oh, and yeah, you can see just how happy I am with the second more than a foot of snow in a week.
And then on the way home, I snapped this one:

I'm wearing boots on my feet. Those boots are entirely covered in snow, as well as several inches of my pants leg.
I'm sorry this is all I got for my 200th HNT post. Hopefully I'll have a more celebratory photo for the 300th HNT post.

Well this town has closed down, way too early and there's nothing to do...
We all know this is a bad storm that's burying us under all this snow, but just how bad IS it? I just found out a short while ago that today, the county closed. I've worked for them for 14 years, and for 3 years before that as a contractor, and I've never heard of the county closing, although they may have done so back in '96 when we got 33 inches in one storm.
However, I just found out the county has decided to remain closed tomorrow! That's two days in a row! That's entirely unheard of!!!
And since I'm non-essential personnel, that means I've got two snow days off! Suh-WEET!
And thank you, Laura, for informing me of both these things.

I know it's several days late, but I've been busy (car buying, snow shoveling, etc) but this is my favorite commercial from the year's Super Bowl.
I LOVE Betty White. I always have. From her days as Sue Ann Niven on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, to her appearances of Match Game and Password to playing Ellen On Mama's Family to, of course, Rose Nyland on The Golden Girls.
I also love her cause she reminds me so much of Mama Polt. Granted, Betty is 20 years old than mom, but they still kinda look alike, and they act alike, especially when Betty was playing Rose. I just can't help but see mom when I see Betty White.
Watch the commerical again and then look at this photo of mom from a few weeks back. Tell me thay don't look alike!

Well, in THIS photo she doesn't look all that much like her, but trust me, they look VERY much alike!
