Where was you when shorty turned two?...

Yesterday, my mother hosted a small 2nd Birthday Party for my cousin Javion. We had my grandmother, an aunt, an uncle and his wife, two cousin, and three kids of those cousins including the birthday boy.

Mom made hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill. yeah, she kept running outside on the patio to check on them, cause the wind kept blowing the fire out. But she kept at it and we eventually ate. And then had ice cream and cake. Although the birthday boy was quite a bit more interested in Angel, mom's dog. He followed her around the house most of the time, crawling after her, or walking along behind her, calling her name as best he could, holding and squeaking her large orange toy pacifier.

I got stuck at the kid table again, nothing really unusual about that, actually. Javion didn't eat much of the meal, but he was all through the cake, trying to cut it with a spoon and then just grabbing it with his hands and shoveling it in. And despite attempts to clean him up, today we discovered a few area's of Angel's fur that were stuck together in small patches, probably from sticky hand petting her.

Naturally, I have photos:
This is Javion on the right, with he orange squeak toy, his brother Tereek on the left, and Angel on the floor, captivated.

This is obviously me with the boys.

Mom wanted a trash bag, she keeps them in the stairwell to the basement. She got a hold of the roll of bags and then dropped the other end, which proceeded to roll all the way to the basement. She stood there laughing while I snapped a photo...always an adventure with Mama Polt.

The boys with my other cousin Lexi.

Near the end of the day, anytime a camera was pointed in his direction, Javion would through his arms in the air and yell, "CHEESE!", or at least his approximation of the world. He's quite the ham, eh?

I love kids birthday parties, they are such a hoot! Kids are so special and innocent, just makes you want to hug and kiss them, then they become teenagers.
